The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Horrific
A very moving and Horrific film. Telling the last hours of the life of Jesus Christ. Words fail to Explain the true nature of this film. (Words I thought I'd never say regarding a film)
The true BRUTALITY of some of the scenes are just unbelievable, To think someone actually went through a similar experience is....... Beyond comprehension.
Before I go off Subject, this is a good film and worth seeing. BUT be warned, and I can't stress this enough some of the scenes are inhuman, especially the chastising scene.
Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment (1985)
Drop in standards!!!
Police Academy 2, what can I say? It just went pear shaped after the first Police Academy film. The story in this film goes from BAD to very BADDDD to Extremely BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.
The Actors in this film, Can't act basically. I've seen 7 year old kids put on better performances in their school plays.
Don't bother with any other Police Academy film their like watching PAINT DRY.
Police Academy (1984)
Best of the worst
Police Academy! The best of the series by FAR. The writers should have known better and never made any sequels.
The story is great and the acting by some of the cast is good (Steve Guttenberg). Most of the other cast members put in average performances, but the story makes up for it.
This is the only Police Academy film worth watching. The acting in the other films is PATHETIC and the storylines are a carbon copy of the 1st film.
Watch Police Academy a few times and you can say you've watched all the series!!!
Stand by Me (1986)
A Classic film
Right from the start this film hits the spot. The four actors River, Wil, Corey and Jerry act as though they'd been in the business for years when in fact its very early on in the careers.
The story just keeps you gripped all the way through and I could watch the film over and over again. The four young actors used this film as a launch pad for their careers, but tragically River Phoenix's was cut short.
Richard Dreyfuss makes the film complete with his portrayal of the Writer and the Narrator.
Stand By Me is just a CLASSIC FILM DON'T MISS IT
Battlefield Earth (2000)
Is that really John Travolta?
How did John Travolta get messed up in a flop like this? The story-line is rubbish. I watched the film so I could say "I've seen it". But anyone thinking of doing the same. "DON'T" watching Battlefield Earth can seriously damage your sense of humor. Every character is too un-real. Very Very Very Bad MOVIE.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Bad job
This film has you thinking, "Whens the action going to start" all the way through. There is no action, and no real story. Its just a Porn film. If you like that sort of thing then this is for you. No real acting is needed because most of the movie is sex. Certainly not what you expect from the actors/actresses.
Zulu (1964)
!!!!Excellent!!!!
After discovering that 1500 of their fellow soldiers have been slaughtered by the Zulu's, a Welsh regiment of 139 men are lead by Lt John Chard (Stanley Baker) in defence of a small outpost. On the way to attack Rourkes Drift are 4000 Zulu's. At first Lt Chard is hindered by the man he's just relieved LT Gonville Bromhead (Michael Caine), but as the film progresses Bromhead realises Chard is the man to lead the men.
Baker portrays Chard excellently. As does Caine with Bromhead. All the cast make Zulu one of the finest British films ever made. James Booth is also worth a mention as the idle Private Henry Hook. The Film is Well worth watching.
Brubaker (1980)
Powerful
Brilliant story and just as good an acting performance by all concerned. Especially Redford.
The prison set is so cold it real puts a chill inside you. Its just a shame the film has to end.
Its nice theres a write-up at the end of the movie though, thats always a good way to finish a film.
Sahara (1995)
They shall not grow old!!!
When I first purchased this movie I just got it because I'm into war films. But after I watched it I was really pleased.
James Belushi puts in one of his best performances of all time. Helped along by the rest of the cast including Alan David Lee and Jerome Ehlers.
The story is a little slow to start off. You get the impression its about a group of soldiers against the desert. But soon the Germans enter the picture and the true plot of the movie becomes apparent.
The best part of the film is the ending sequence. Sgt. Gunn (Belushi) is knelt praying over the graves of his fallen comrades. The poem and the tank driving away is just classic.
Top quality film and one of my favorites!!!!!
Escape from Sobibor (1987)
10 out of 10
This is one of the best films I've ever seen. When I first saw it many years ago I was about 12 or 13 and after the first viewing I watched it again and again.
All the cast put in award winning performances. Especially the German characters. When you watch the film you get the feeling that you want to attack the tv because you just HATE the German portrail.
The location of the film is really authentic. Right down to the gas chambers.
The escape scene near the end gets the hairs on your back standing up. And the elation you feel when the Jews achieve their goal at the end is unreal. Definately one of the greatest films I've ever watched. I can still watch it today and enjoy it everytime.
Heroes II: The Return (1991)
Great depiction of the horrors and brotherhoods of war!!!!
When I first saw the film it really made me feel great and sad at the same time. All cast members are exceptional in their portrail of their characters. The locations are brilliant and the soundtrack is up there with the best of them.
One of the things that improves the quality of the film is the write-up at the end. It gives you a sense of closure on the film. So many films are left open with you thinking well what happened to him or her etc.
