Bama Rush (2023)
Bama Rush Doesn't Even Show Rush! Complete waste of time unless you want to learn about a directors struggle with alopecia.
I wanted to watch this documentary because I was curious about the "Alabama Rush" process...but Rush isn't even in the documentary. In fact...the featured talent isn't even in the whole documentary. The director simply took a catchy title and said..."How can I make this about me?" The director has alopecia so she is bald, and you find that out pretty early in the doc because 1 of the girls innocently breaks the 4th wall and asks someone off camera what they do in the sun to protect their head. The director takes jabs at the girls throughout the doc for caring about what they look like. In doing so she always tries to set up a super artsy shot to talk to the camera...and her voice might be the most annoying voice I have ever heard in my life. I read one comment saying she puts a weird affect on her voice....no no...she is just trying to sound super cool and artistic. Netflix took a dump, they should flush it before it starts to stink.
28 Days Haunted (2022)
This is the best paranormal show Travel Channel has Never put out!
Cool idea! I am a much bigger fan of Ed and Lorraine than Hans, it sounded like they competed back in the day...he sounded like a nut job. Back to the show :) The producers and networks that rely on the paranormal as their bread and butter will not fake anything because they need to maintain their credibility in the "paranormal space." Netflix does not have that problem, therefore I can see how they do not care if they have to fake something to produce a decent show. After all, a paranormal investigation with no paranormal activity, makes for some pretty boring tv. (NOT A SPOILER BECAUSE THIS SCENE WAS IN THE TRAILER) While in the Lumber Baron Inn the investigators walk into a room where all the cabinets doors are open, but when they were in the same room before, they were all closed. IF this really happened, this would be the best evidence of the paranormal caught on a tv show, ever. But the talent's terrible acting pretty much told us everything we needed to know. It's okay though! You guys are not actors and we know that, it's not your fault. You are thinking too much about what the camera is capturing rather than being in the moment and having an organic reaction. But now let me say this, I don't care if a show is fake, the most profitable paranormal movies....are not real! Give us some good tv, but you might need to get some better talent to pull it off.
Ghosts of Devil's Perch (2022)
I Got Goosebumps...because it was so stupid.
It seems like The Travel Channel prefers to use talent that is horrendous on camera so that the audience doesn't look up their imdb, see that the talent has actor credits, and think the person is just "acting" on their shows. The on screen takes are bad enough, but the pick ups are so embarrassing to witness. It takes you completely out of the moment and makes you question how the people involved with these shows aren't cringing, knowing an audience....albeit a dwindling audience, is watching. Sure, some may question the credibility of the paranormal (in the show) if they see the talent has acting credits. But I think the credibility is even more in question when the talent is so unnatural that you can tell they are being fed lines....because if that part is scripted, what else in the show is? And yes, every "reality show" has scripted elements, it's the only way to make the story go from "A" to "B". However The Travel Channel's current "A" to "B" is taking an "Average" show and making it a "Bad" show.
