Interview with the Vampire: ... After the Phantoms of Your Former Self (2022)
Lestat. Just that. Lestat.
I was greatly concerned about the interpretation of Lestat, who's one of my favorite characters in media. I've always wanted to see him portrayed the way it should be and unfortunately in the books Louis was too unreliable to give us that.
BUT with this episode I can see all the sweet layers of who Lestat is, also... Sam? Daaaaamn I was wrong, the media has been giving me twink drama club Lestat for too long and I needed my jock drama club Lestat from the books.
I also really enjoyed how this story of Louis is going and I'm shipping these two harder than any other couple out there. I know I'm setting myself up for heartbreak but oh well... it's the price for good media I guess.
Interview with the Vampire: In Throes of Increasing Wonder... (2022)
Proven wrong, thank goodness
I'm a huge fan of the books, especially the first 3. I actually really really liked the movie and when I read about all the changes I was scared and already thinking this show was going to be AWFULLY adapted.
I'm soooo happy I was proven wrong. Within the first few minutes, it was clear to me the show wasn't an adaptation but it was INSPIRED by the books, and I feel that's exactly how it should be done.
I finally not only like Louis but love him. I understand him and I see him. I was a little afraid of this new interpretation of Daniel because I know where the books went for and this ain't it, BUUUUUUT I love him so much, he's funny and gives me an Anthony Bourdain vibe which I freaking love. Interested where they'll go with his character.
Cruella (2021)
Live action remake done right
When I first heard of this movie I dread of it, but I wanted to see how they dealt with this villain without making her completely sugar-coated. And my mind was blown away. The script was fantastic (the dialog, the storytelling), the soundtrack was on point, the costume design was fantastic, I felt completely immersed in this fashion universe, the acting was on a other level, they wasted no character, everyone felt special. I particularly loved that they didn't shy away from cruellas true nature. I also loved the punk reference of it all. Simply put, everyone should take notes. This is how you do a live action remake RIGHT.
The Walking Dead: Diverged (2021)
Emotional but in the right way
These episodes have been very character-centric which a refreshing thing, because it gives us the depth these characters needs in a show that has a lot of characters. This particular episode and Find Me are amazing because it's been annoying me that Carol and Daryl's relationship continued to be all good after everything that happened and I love that we're finally at that point of conversation, they need to vent out their frustrations because we need the growth that these relationship deserves. We need these two badass being the best the OG group has. And I feel we're going in the right place. Carol needs to heal, she needs to make amends and Daryl needs to realize that he carries with unnecessary burdens.
