A mild and likable, early 60s, sleazy exploitation film.
21 March 2024
Joe Sarno's 'Warm Nights and Hot Pleasures' follows three ambitious college girls eager to make their mark on Broadway to New York City. After renting an apartment, in a building where the landlady poses for sexy pics, the girls are immersed in a lurid world of wild parties, men's clubs and sleazy casting couches. Soon, each one must decide how far she is willing to go for stardom.

Like many Sarno pictures, this one focuses on the women and their misadventures. Despite some simulated sex and brief nudity, the film plays out more like a drama than a straight nudie flick, with its tragedy, despair, debasement and betrayal.

So basically, what you got here is a 60s NYC sleaze-lite B&W exploitation drama, with some great trashy moments, and a jazz soundtrack that doesn't quit.

Possibly best horror 2022
27 October 2022
This was an awesome horror movie.

You shouldn't go into this move knowing any more than the basic plot line: A woman staying at an Airbnb discovers that the house she has rented is not what it seems.

This is not a slow-burner. You get a creepy feeling from the start.

30 minutes inn the psychological anticipation for what is going to happen next is nerve shattering and director Zach Cregger manages to keep the tension rising throughout this film.

On the graphic side it got some gore and on the psychological side it takes its toll.

And it does it good!

Great performances by Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård and Justin Long.

Any horror fan should watch this one.

Possibly the best horror film 2022.

ANOTHER SUPER-HERO FILM FOR CHILDREN, ONLY
12 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Super-Hero movies are popular these days. This is another attempt at just that starring Owen Wilson as a secret defender of planet earth. His son and some friends accidentally opens the door to the Defenders headquarters which invites villains and suddenly the world needs saving.

The special-effects are not bad. But that's just not good enough, by itself, to make an interesting movie.

This is basically a children's movie about young stereotypes doing annoying stereotypical things.

There are some daddy/son issues going on under the surface of this film... but you will probably not care because that's just one of endless cliches in this film that got nothing new to offer.

Im not even sure if this film will sit well with children.

The dissolution of the chemical wedding
14 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A family moves into an old house with Hebrew letters carved above particular doors. The letters Lamed (L), Vav (V), Yod (Y), Tet (T), Nun (N) spells Leviathan, which is the demon that is spoken about being the beast. When the daughter disappears the mommy starts connecting the dots and begin to realize that she needs help in order to save her family from an ancient demonic entity that uses the house as a gateway.

This occult themed movie got satanic and alchemical elements throughout and comes across more like a thriller than a horror. If you are expecting gore you will be disappointed. It builds up tension till the last horror-part concludes.

If you are into horror and the occult in general you will probably like this one.

NO ANIMATION - STILL PICTURES ONLY
13 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was going to be like other LEGO movies out there, only with a biblical theme, but it is not. There is no animation... only still-pictures with voice-over. If you already know the biblical story, this will become boring very fast with no satisfying visuals to feast your eyes on.

The basic biblical story included in this film:

The creation of Adam and Eve and how they ate from the Tree of Knowledge and got kicked out of the Garden of Eden.

Cain murdering his brother Abel.

Since the world got filled with more people it also got filled with more sin. God covers the earth with the flood but not before putting Noah, his family and all the animals in the ark.

Many years after the flood the earth starts to get filled with more people and more sin, again. Now God punishes the people in Babylon, for building a tower as high as Gods own kingdom, by confusing their language and scatter them throughout the earth.

God promise Abraham to make him into a great nation (the land of Canaan : Is-Ra-El). At this point Abraham's faith is so strong that he would blindly sacrifice his own son Issac if God willed it.

Joseph gets betrayed by his brothers and sold as a slave. Later Joseph becomes Egypts favorite slave for interpreting dreams and becomes a free man who takes care of business for Pharaoh. During the seven years of famine Joseph is reunited with his father Jacob and his brothers.

The Pharaoh is worried that the Hebrews one day will rise up agains him so he puts them to hard work and kills every Hebrew boy that is born from then on. But the Pharaoh's daughter secretly brings a Hebrew baby boy (Moses) into the Pharaoh's household.

When Moses has grown up he kills an Egyptian, for whipping one of his own kind, and escapes Egypt. One day Moses talks to a burning bush which tells him that he will lead Gods people out of Egypt.

Moses returns to Egypt but the Pharaoh will not listen. God through Moses then releases 10 plagues on Egypt before the Pharaoh gives up. Moses splits the Red Sea and leads the Israelites back to Canaan while the sea swallows the pursuing Egyptians.

When Moses reach the Desert of Sinai, where the Lord had appeared to Moses as a burning bush 40 years earlier, he receives the 10 commandments.

Meanwhile Moses' followers, having given up on him, makes a new calf god of gold but the true God forgives them. Through the desert they eat mana from heaven for 40 years.

Moses passes his staff to Joshua, so he can lead his people to the Promised Land.

END of PART 1. (There is supposed to be two more parts/films).

Virus Shark (2021)

AVOID THIS ONE!
21 April 2021
Another low-budget shark movie by Mark Polonia. This is the same guy who directed "Sharkenstein", "Shark Encounters of the Third Kind" and "Land Shark" ... so I think you get the picture in terms of quality. Yes... you can expect the same type of "quality" that the American independent film company and distributor, the Asylum, produces - really low quality stuff!

Trying to cash in on the ongoing pandemic by making a film about a shark bite that spreads a virus across the globe, turning the world upside down, while a group of researchers race against time to find a cure.

Even before you see the security guy, who looks like a wrestler in costume during the 80s, you know this film doesn't take itself seriously.

The special effects are cheaply done and really bad.

Acting is wooden and awful.

Script is ridiculous.

Avoid this one... even if you are into shark movies! This film is not about the shark, it's about the virus.

Go re-watch Steven Spielberg's "Jaws" from 1975. That's still the best shark-movie around. Or check out "Deep Blue Sea" or "The Meg", even they are leagues ahead of "Virus Shark".

Solid vampire movie.
22 December 2020
This is one of the better vampire movies out there.

For 30 days and nights an Alaskan town is without any sunlight, which attracts a bloodthirsty gang of vampires.

Starring Josh Hartnett (Lucky Number Slevin, The Faculty) as the small town sheriff.

The vampires are depicted great with sharp teeth and long sharp nails. They do speak their own language and look somewhat distinct from humans. They have plenty of screen-time and you see them clearly as opposed to movies where the monsters are confined to the dark parts of the movie only.

This is not a slow-burner and builds up tension pretty fast and holds it to the end. The special effects are good and there is plenty of blood in this horror.

If you are into horror and/or vampires you will most certainly like this movie!

I give it a strong 7 - almost an 8!
