Joker (I) (2019)
8/10
A Different Perspective at the Gotham City
23 October 2021
I know Joker from the comics that he don't really have an origin story. There are various version on how he got to be the 'Joker'. So in this movie they really have the freedom. Throughout the film we see Arthur Fleck, the characters who have mental problem living in a very cruel society while also have to deal with personal family trouble that made the audiences to understand the action, the decision he made in the entire film.

Joaquin Phoenix's performance here is a top-tier for me. I really appreciate when an actor have such a dedication to the role they play. In this case, to give a mentally damaged, malnourished impression to the character of Arthur Fleck, Joaquin willing to lose his weight to look so skinny. Not only that, his acting was so excellent that every time Arthur made a terrible action, I feel terrified and also at the same time think it's the right thing to do considering what the character have been through.

Other aspect from the film also catch my attention. I like the scoring, some sound came at the right moment and time to elevate the tension. And when it doesn't needed the scene will just be very quiet and let the audience have time to processing what they just saw. I also like the theme they include in this movie with the tone and color they choose is very important to show the atmosphere of the city. For the pace, I feel like it was sometimes just to slow that almost got me bored.

But that just it, overall it's a movie about character study, where we got to understand the motivations behind all the character's action. It was a very unique movie experience for me.

A Heartfelt and Funny Family Drama.
22 October 2021
First thing I want to praise from this movie is of course, the stop motion. I really appreciate everyone who worked on this with such a passion and hard work. This movie feel so surreal, and that makes it unique with all the unusual concept. It feels like a moving art. The use of orange-ish color grading here is very eye-catching. It's also full of funny moments, every jokes lands perfectly, yet still manage to embrace a serious theme in it. Although I kinda felt empty with the storyline and the entire environment that the story takes place, I still consider this movie enjoyable.

Little Women (2019)

Enjoy the character's chemistry and the 19th century atmosphere.
22 October 2021
I'm watching this movie without any expectation. I don't read the book, i don't watch any previous adaptation. I really don't have any knowledge about what's about to happen in this movie. Some people complain about it being too short to cover the entire elements from the book, which I can't relate. I understand that an adaptation need to stay true to the source material. But maybe for people like me who doesn't read the book, we don't find that problem. It's a beautiful romance story blend with a family drama from an excellent performance by the cast.

Saoirse Ronan as Jo March really stole the show. The depiction of strong woman personality who have to deal with her personal career, relation with her sisters, and marriage that show her struggling with life while also still passionate to chase her dream which led her to make a difficult choices. The atmosphere of a happy family also warm my heart with the chemistry between characters. Maybe my little problem is on the editing of story's timeline. In the beginning of the movie we see what happens in the present day, and then a few minutes later they jumped back to 7 years prior (They show a black screen with the "7 years ago" as a mark) but then they never show again which scene is when they finally go back to the present day. But beside that this movie is basically a christmas movie, a movie to watch comfortably with whole family in holiday. Everything seems and feels well-crafted and wholesome.

Justice League (2001–2004)
8/10
One of the best DC animated show!
23 August 2021
This was my childhood cartoon back in the early 2000s. Justice League is the first superhero team I ever liked. And for nostalgia purpose, I decided to rewatched it in 2021. I don't really remember the stories, characters, so it feels like I'm watching for the first time. What a joyful moment I have for binge-watch this whole two-season series.

I'm a big fan of superhero movies/tv shows and this is one of the best DC adaptation I ever watch. In this series, they show how powerful the team, relationship between member, humanizing some alien characters. This is what the Justice League should be done in live-action too. The whole DCAU is actually can be a blueprint for DCEU and they blow it up.

I just can't wait to continue with Justice League: Unlimited.

Citizen Kane (1941)
8/10
Influential Classic Movie
23 July 2021
My thoughts [21/07/2021] This is the first time (I guess) I watch an American non-colored movie. It feels strange, because it's not kind of movie I usually watch. If saying this movie "a masterpiece" is become boring, then I'll say that this movie is one of the most if not the most influential cinema of all time. It was released in 1941 and people like me who was born in 2000s and loved watching movies still acknowledge Citizen Kane existence and it's impact.

Did the film's crew knows that they were making history back then when they shot the movie? Orson Welles is really the man. He produce, direct, write the script and even play the main character in this movie. And he was only 25 at production time. What a legend. His acting was incredible and the role he is playing is so iconic that it really influence many other iconic movie character afterwards. Also, gotta give credit to the cinematographer. Cinematography is the main aspect that I really appreciate from this movie. Every shot has a meaning. Every single shot tells a story. If only they have our modern camera, it will would be perfect.

I feel the impact. Because after I finished watching, I become more interested on watching more classic movie. Especially non-colored movie from 20th century.

Black Widow (2021)
7/10
Mid-Tier MCU Movie
16 July 2021
I love MCU, but actually I never excited to see this film for some reasons. First, even tho Black Widow has been around for like 10 years in the MCU, she still isn't one of my favorite characters. Second, because they released it after the character have died in the previous movie (Avengers: Endgame). This movie could make me more excited if they released it on the same timeline as the movie take place, 2016/2017. It just feel kinda weird that they put this as the first movie of MCU Phase 4.

The film starts off very strong with establishing Natasha Romanoff's childhood and her family. And reveal how Nat ended up being a Black Widow. Actually one of the best opening from all Marvel movies in my opinion.

Many people don't like how Marvel use Taskmaster in this movie. But I'm actually agree with that. My problem with the villain is that he just got small screentime and seems not threatening at all. I thought Taskmaster will be the next Winter Soldier kind of villain when I watch the trailers and then I was wrong. For the third act, yeah Marvel really have a problem with this. CGI fight scene is fine, but if they fail, it makes the whole scene and sequence look terrible.

But beside all of that, this movie was doing great on telling the backstory of Nat and the way they respecting the character's death. If I'm making my version of MCU movie ranking, maybe I'll put this in number 13/14/15 out of 24 movies.

Superior Side-Story
23 June 2021
So I just finished watching the first season of this show and I think this show is great. I know this show because of Justin Roiland, which is one of the writer and voice actor in Rick and Morty. While not as-unique-as Rick and Morty, this show still worth the watch. Especially, the side-story "The Wall" that is so engaging with so many emotions and twists. I found it interesting that the side story is far more superior than the main story. I'm not saying that the story is bad, I just feel that I have a few problems with it that makes them less interesting. But at the end, this show have a big opportunity to expand for more elements in the 2nd season.

Most Lighthearted and Funniest Batman Film
22 May 2021
This movie is more aimed at younger audience and serve as a spin off to The Lego Movie (2014). Yet while doing that, they still manage to not removing some of the aspects that makes Batman special. I like how they pay homage to previous Batman adaptation from '60s Batman to BvS.

The opening scene was so awesome for me. It's establishing Batman's role for Gotham City that is a hero.

As a fan of Batfamily, at first I actually like to see Barbara Gordon being in this movie. But the more she appear in the movie, the more I don't see the importance of her being in it. They don't make Barbara a likeable character.

Overall, this movie is so funny and had a great life lesson. So you can enjoy it with all of your family members.

A Fun Watch for the Speedster Fans!
9 May 2021
I would say that I really enjoyed this movie. For people like me who liked character with super-speed power, this movie deliver what makes them special. Jim Carrey's potrayal of Dr. Robotnik is one of the best aspect of this film. Beside that, it has a simple storyline that is not a bad thing. It allows the audiences to be more comfortable to follow the character's journey. Many scenes that I would like to rewatch. And maybe this is my favorite film based on video games.

Setting Up for A Bigger Event!
8 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So many things happens in this second installment of the new DC Animated Movie Universe. Introducing some big name from the comics such as Justice Society, The Flash, and the multiverse theory. This film have similar vibe with Superman: Red Son where superheroes saving the world in the World War II era. There are many interesting relationship here, such as Barry and Jay, Carter and Laurel, Steve and Diana thag elevate this movie. I liked the animation style here, it looks clean despite having problem on some "unnatural" character move motion. But I think it still had some flaw which is one thing that bother me is how they move the focus from the Nazi's army to some big monster from Atlantis to be the big problem for the JSA in the final battle. That makes the introduction of Aquaman feels forced and the actual villain don't get enough screentime.

Eye-Pleasing Visual With Unique Concept
26 April 2021
Well, this is different than I usually watch and loved it so much. Creativity in this film is top notch. They blend comic book and video games concept into a movie perfectly. The plot, the comedy, the romance, and even the action is great. It's really a fun ride.

Enjoyable Masterpiece from Spielberg
23 April 2021
Since the first 20 minutes i'm watching, I already know it's gonna be a fun ride movie. Such an interesting plot from a real life story of Frank Abagnale Jr. Steven Spielberg really prove himself that he's indeed one of the best filmmaker out there. The casting is also on point, DiCaprio fit really well in this charming, energic character. I like how they reference The Flash in this film. My only problem is maybe some character is just got wasted and didn't get enough screentime but it still acceptable. This film is also rewatchable which is why I'm highly recommend you to watch this.

Beautiful Story From A Genius
17 April 2021
In the first half of the movie, I'm so excited to see what's John Nash (main character) actually doing and the mystery behind that but then the twist happens and I'm like "okay, so it will go much deeper than I think it's going to be". We see the character struggle with his life because of the illness he had. But thanks he's not alone there are his friends and his love interest who is always with him. The story set in many points in time. We see main character growing up and see what he has been through over the years which is remind me of 'Forrest Gump'. It's all about acceptance and loyalty. I don't know anything about this movie before watching it so by the end when they revealed that this is based on a true story of John Nash, a matematician who won a Nobel Prize in 1994 makes love this movie even more. Great performance by Russell Crowe for depicting mental illness and of course there is Jennifer Connelly whose acting can't be doubted. Not surprised that she later brought home Academy Award's 'Best Supporting Actress'.

A Fantasy Classic from 21st Century
13 April 2021
First, I need to appreciate the people behind all these TLoTR movies for making one of the best if not the best trilogy ever. This movie is a culmination and payoff for the whole story. Peter Jackson really have the ability to adapt a long story novel into a total 12+ hours movie trilogy (ultimate edition cut). I'm impressed by the visual effects, I think it looks so good for an early 2000s movies. I rarely see a massive war scene in a movie and they doing it very well in this. So for everyone who read my review I really recommend you this movie with other two prequel because I'm sure you will get an amazing experience.

The fights are awesome, but they ignored the character
7 April 2021
Among 4 films in the Monsterverse, this is the first one that I fully watched. I love both Godzilla and Kong. When it comes to visual effects they really nailed it, but the plotline is just bland and boring. They really need to make some characters more interesting to watch. Beside that I like how they explore more about Kong and make him feels like the main character. I think the monsters are more likeable than the human characters. The dynamics between one of the character with Kong their relationship slightly raise the quality of this film.

A Good Show, But It Can Be Better
7 April 2021
I love Spider-Man, he's literally my favorite characters from Marvel Comics. And this show is one of my childhood so while quarantine I decided to rewatch it. I think it's amazing having Spider-Man work together with other heroes in a team.

Spider-Man can also interact with other popular heroes from Marvel. It's also very funny and comedic. But some stuff like Spider-Man using Spider-Bike (I don't remember the actual name) on some mission is bothering me. That thing is cool but too overused. Beside that I really thank this show for fill my childhood.

Epic Fantasy Stories from Peter Jackson!!!
5 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The second movie of the trilogy and they still deliver great movie. I need to praise Peter Jackson for this masterpiece. In this story, they introduced many places and characters with their backstories to me. Which is make me more caring and symphatetic for them. So many things happens here from battle of Helm's Deep, friendship journey of Frodo and Sam until the Gollum betrayal plans that make me more excited for the last movie of the trilogy.

Beautiful Show with Great Music
22 March 2021
People needs to stop underestimate cartoon. I mean some of them is just so good that can be better than some live-action show. This element of mystery with awesome twists reminded me of Gravity Falls which I really love. Great combination of dark tone with comedy. The story is short yet fantastic. I recommend you to watch this show in one sitting, because the total runtime is around 120 minutes so it ca feels like watching a 2 hours movie.

Now We Need the Sequel!
20 March 2021
First of all, this director's cut is obviously way better than the original movie in 2017. We got to see more of character development from each member of the Justice League. I can't believe so many beautiful and important scene being cut off to be released on theater. The story behind this is just make the movie better. Zack Snyder really knows what DC's fans want. But the movie has some cliffhanger that need to be explained. That's why we need the director continue the story. #RestoreTheSnyderverse

Unexpected and Satisfying Ending!
5 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Overall, this is a great ending for the series. This is what I loved about Marvel they can combine an action-packed but also full of emotion in an episode. A lot of fan theories has been debunked which is unexpected. But this episode raised some new questions from me like where the white vision go after getting back his real memories?, what happened to "Ralph"?, is Wanda's childrens still alive? But yeah I think I'll get the answer in later MCU's movies or tv shows. Lastly, I'm getting more excited for Doctor Strange sequel that I can't believe we have to wait for another whole year to see it.
