Pearl Harbor (2001)
Good film except for Affleck
The cinematography is very good and convincing with only a few errors. The story line is good and the build up to the attack is very interesting, the actual attack sequence is very good with lots of explosive action. The ladies playing the nurses are convincing in as much as they are very young and inexperienced but come through fine with few exceptions, Kate Beckinsale is a great pleasure to behold and for that matter so are the other medical staff. This brings me to the total negativity of the affleck character, self opinionated, arrogant and totally gung-ho, truly pathetic, a different lead would have been so much better.
Hope Street (2020)
Parts just OK
The idea is potentially good, but the script writing is poor and so predictable, the acting talent apart from the main policeman is, at best, wooden and unconvincing, the landlady of the pub is talentless as is the young copper. The nosey argumentative old woman doesn't convince me. She is an add on to try and liven up the poor unimaginative script. The setting is wonderful and is the only reason I gave this 2 stars. The Indian lady has no charisma whatsoever and oscillates between frown and wide eyed disbelief in an attempt to look believable. Whoever is in charge please do not make any further episodes, consign this rubbish to the bin.
Primeval (2007)
Great idea
Unfortunately, as usual, this ran for far too long, two and a half series too long. The early characters were believable in their reactions to situations, however latterly all became laughable.
Executive Decision (1996)
Could have been much better
This piece of entertainment would have greatly benefitted from the omission of Steven seagal, a weak actor with little ability. Kurt Russell is much stronger and gives a reasonable performance, whilst Halle Berry the eye candy.
Bergerac (1981)
Great scenery ruined by Bergerac
The setting is fabulous, the early episodes were good, however the later ones were ruined by the over acting and self centred attitude of Bergerac. Charlie Hungerford and the other stalwarts deserve praise supporting that wooden actor Bergerac (John Nettles). I've watched most of the episodes purely for the scenery and the supporting cast.
Without Remorse (2021)
Unbelievable rubbish
Everything about this film is biased and ridiculous to the nth degree. Obviously made as a 'so called' homage to black lives matter absolute tripe having such an insipid female as a superior officer in an elite team and the overplayed 'white people cannot run a unit with clarity and vision' demeanour of gung-ho American crap.
Ultimate Force (2002)
Sort of OK
This is certainly no Strike Back (first 5 series only) it is fairly well made but suffers from the ineptitude of the main character (should have stayed with soaps)
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
Unbelievable rubbish
Poor plot, poor acting especially cruise. An all round failure for me.
Father Brown (2013)
The idiot inspector
Who on earth made the character of the inspector played by jack deam such a bumbling twerp, it is demeaning the novels by G K Chesterton which are very well written. If it wasn't for the rest of the cast being good to very good and the fact that the aforementioned inspector has been good in other productions, I would not have awarded so many stars on my rating. So, whoever wrote the part for Jack Deam wants some seriously intense criticism.
