The Repair Shop (2017)
I used to live this program, but now it's very manipulative
Around Season 9, this program started going downhill. I know that may items belong to deceased people, but ever item!, plus let's show the item when it arrived, but deduce the saturation, so everything looks all washed out and dreadful, and now Wow wee. It is still worth watching but it's lost some of it's sparkle.
Person of Interest: Firewall (2012)
Spoiler
Started watching the whole series again and it's so amazing things that you don't notice, like ms Turing has a yellow box around her as she walks in the street with John, a dead giveaway that she knows about the machine and not just a victim needed to be saved.
Around the World in 80 Days: Episode #1.1 (2021)
Well we got a balloon into episode 1 doh!
Moral of this episode is don't go to France. Let's face it a majority of 19 and early 20th century we're white male orientated and so having - mix is ok, but it seems that we are not content with jules vernes' story, we have to add extra bits to it because the producers and directors are better story writers than jules. The arrogance of these people, either it's jules vernes or it isn't. And this clearly isn't. If you are so clearly better thanks jules, write your own bloody story and stop standing on the shoulders of the greats. We shall see if it improves, but with 1D characters, flat is the name of the game.
The Madame Blanc Mysteries (2021)
Episode 1 review
I started to worry when I saw the titles, which were dreadful and looked like a cheap el dorado sequence
Then we met the actors and actresses and my fears were confirmed. My wife and I used to rank murder mysteries from murder she wrote, where within 5 minutes you knew who was going to get killed, who was going to get blamed and who the real killer was (level 1 crime) and up at the high end with monk and Jonathan creek where you sat. Had to stop watch talked about all the clues and still couldn't work it out. I never thought there could be a lever zero crime. I might move the score up if that woman who sat next to mrs white isn't the killer, but I fear that she is, this is not a spoiler because I haven't seen more that one episode, I actually expected this to be revealed in the first episode, but it seems that the writer is going to reveal this block buster in another episode, at lease this show has few episodes that broadchurch, where we worked out the killer in episode 1 and then had to sit through boring episode after episode while nothing happened)
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
This isn't the ending I wanted, but issues had to be resolved.
It was a story of loss
Lord varys tried to get jon to take over and failed and we lost him.
tyrion tried to stop the deaths and failed
Jon had hope that carnage would not happen and was powerless to stop the madness from dany and grey worm.
Grey worm lost control
dany lost her mind.
Arya lost a friend but gets a new name to add to her list.
Grey worm is going to be trouble, I don't think jon snow has the ability to kill him.
Jaime has gone (maybe) he never really redeemed himself.
We are now down to one dragon,
The hound killed the mountain and we lost him.
predicted last shot, a clutch of dragon eggs, cracking....
The Life and Adventures of Nick Nickleby (2012)
spend it on this rubbish, or get your hands on the RSC Play - no contest.
I had high hopes for this version, ok a modern day up-to-date version, but it failed on so many levels.
it was a typical 'we writers know best' we can write our own story and produce wonderful day-time faire - well you are so off the mark.
The depth of the original was plastered over and we were left with a soap-opera style holby city meets the chuckle brothers.
The casting was wrong, the storyline dreadful and acting way off.
The humour and tragedy, the dread and misery of the original were missing.
Give yourself a treat and watch the RSC Version - this is not going to be a way for new viewers to find out about Charles Dickens

Torchy, the Battery Boy (1959)
I remember this program from long ago and it brings back happy memories
My only niggle-noggle is that the episodes seem to be out of order, I don't care that they were shown in the order listed, in one episode, torchy is on topsy-turvy land, then he is marooned on earth with his rocket still on the planet. Bossy-boots seems to jump from earth to the planet and back again without explanation, perhaps this is just me being picky. I will watch the episodes again and see if I can resolve this issue. but I have some space patrol to watch, which is a far better series and one that I would recommend to people, with hard science based stories. just don't call me Pop
Father Brown (2013)
Defective Detective!
First of all Father brown isn't a detective and isn't a sleuth, he is closer to a psychological profiler. He puts his head into the head of the person who performed the dreadful deed, he is not interested in whether the culprit is caught or not, but really only if his soul is saved. Who knows how many murders he 'let go', but on the whole I would think that he manages to get them to turn themselves in, after all he manages to redeem Flambeau, no easy task.
As for this series, I was rather disappointed, Mark Williams is nice enough and he is certainly not the best actor by description to play the good priest. What lets down the series are the stories and the writers, who have no idea what makes a good crime story.
If you are going to make a father brown series and call the episodes by the name of a GKC story, you could at least try to stay faithful to the plot. I really don't care much what they do with the new stories, they are poorly written and full of holes, but I do object to the episodes 'The Hammer of God', 'The Flying Stars', 'The Wrong Shape', 'The Eye of Apollo' and 'The Blue Cross', which for some strange reason have been edited beyond recognition. They would have a much better story, if they had been left alone. I know the series is proving very popular, and my views will not be held by many, all I can say is read the books and then decide if my comments are unfair.
