Ghosts of Mars (2001)
So bad it's watchable!
I was mistaken for thinking this was a comedy at one point, it's cheesy and laughable in places, but watchable for all that. Fast enough paced to keep you watching and the flash back story line kept me wanting to know how the main character managed to survive.
To me it was The Long Kiss Goodnight (Geena Davis and Samuel L) crossed with Trick or Treat (80's rock horror movie).
The bad guys look like they should be auditioning for KISS and it has a great rock soundtrack which works particularly well in the fight scenes. I think this film would really appeal to teen metal fans who like their horror on the light side.
Gangs of New York (2002)
Mostly a let-down.. but with moments of brilliance
Having read the other comments I have to say i agree with the majority... too long, Cameron character was shallow, Leo had a dreadful accent... However I think DDL's portrayal of Bill was outstanding, he sent shivers down my spine.. evil personified, quite brilliant.. and the only thing that kept me watching to the end.
However, I may be thick, but was I the only one not to understand what he actually does to Leo with the knife??? I was expecting some sort of deformity, perhaps I just missed the point there.
Very Annie Mary (2001)
In the genre of Little Voice
I got this out having heard nothing about it and having no clue as to the subject, so I approached it with no preconceptions!
I thought it was great, by turns quirky, tragic and hilarious. This film is totally bizarre but a great way to pass an evening with a few mates and a curry!
The Breakfast Club (1985)
16 Years after I first watched it,I'm still watching it!
My favourite film of the 80's, I actually like the soundtrack, it's part of the whole nostalgia trip.
The quotes from this film became part of everyday vocab in my teens, I have spent the interim 16 years looking for boots and nailvarnish the same as Clare's!!
I have seen this film somewhere in the region of 25 times... I know most of the script off by heart... but the best thing is, I notice something new every time, even now.
As a kid, I always wanted a sequel... but that would have ruined it (like Grease 2)... so I'm happy to keep watching, drooling over Bender (he's SO cool)and pretending I am not in my 30's!!
Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang) (2001)
Lock Stock meets Kindergarten Cop
By turns funny, poignant, violent and energetic, this film has many faces. In the same vein as Lock Stock, but not your usual London underworld flick the film includes gritty reality and, bordering on far fetched, sentimentality. Could become a cult classic.
