The Rookie (2002)
Classy
Wow, for the most part this was a great movie. With the exception of too many errors in the scene shot at The Ballpark in Arlington, this was a great all-around movie. I expected Disney Cheese, but instead it was just a great story that was presented beautifully.
Hudson Hawk (1991)
You could be swingin' on a star...
This is one of those guilty pleasures...you should probably hate the irreverence of this film, but it's goofiness is rather original and I'm proud to say that I enjoyed this movie. Yes some scenes do run long and some are just annoying, but if you don't analyze this movie to death, and don't look at it as a classic movie, you can just watch; don't think and enjoy.
Rear Window (1954)
Nothing new to add...
I'm not going to say anything that hasn't been said before. This is a classic, more specifically my favorite movie. I would recommend this movie for anyone, whether they like older movies or current. It's a Hitchcock classic and it has many of Hollywood's finest in it (Stewart and Kelly look fantastic together, and let's not forget about Raymond Burr). To me this is the standard for all suspense movies. The sound tells the story wonderfully and the lighting keeps you looking in the shadows, not knowing what will happen next.
X2 (2003)
Alright, now that the introductions are out of the way...
We can finally get to a much richer story than the first. Now that people have already been introduced to all of the main characters, you can really start to lock in to all of the action, comedy, and drama that makes the x-men story line so good (in both comic and movie form). Just like in the first one, you surprisingly don't have to be a historian of the comic to understand the movie, but granted it helps (especially with all the cameos...beast!!) Anyways, if this trend keeps up, the x series of movies can only get better and better, which says alot considering that it already has a solid foundation.
The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
Up to par w/ the first one
Ok, what can I say, this is a good movie overall. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was definitely enjoyable. The FX were great, but I'd liked to have them appeared a little smoother. The one major complaint that I had was that the dialogue of the main characters however didn't quite seem to match the first movie quite like I'd expected. But don't get me wrong, it works in the evolution of the series. It's intriguing to see how the characters are growing, and just like everyone else, I'm eager to see how this all 'wraps up.'
SLC Punk! (1998)
It's not very often
It's not very often that a film comes along and grabs you and takes you through that emotional roller coaster, and when your done...you look around and say hey fighting against the system is just as superficial as being passe about the life you live. Lillard and Company nail the angle of the young teens in great angst and struggling to live the lives they want despite what others have planed for them. The director (who says that the inspiration for the movie comes from past stories) also besides approaching issues that allow the characters to have their own opinions he also allows them to grow-up as the film develops. It ends in my opinion as a much finer coming-of-age movie than the top dollar movies like good will hunting. I don't feel that everyone will enjoy this movie as much as I did, but at the least you should laugh and cry with the characters.
