The Michael Jackson Interview: The Footage You Were Never Meant to See (2003)
A Must See
I gave this documentary 10 starts not because of its excellency in film-making, but because it really reveals how and in what ways media has for many years distorted the image of the greatest entertainer of out time, Michael Jackson. Those who have seen Bashir's Living with Michael Jackson, regardless whether you believed it to be a true or false portrayal of Jackson, needs to see this documentary which shows how answers and comments were either distorted, taken out of context or simply cut (needless to mention that these were the comments that showed Jackson in a positive light). The documentary allows one to juxtapose two angles of the same interviews and the making of the final product (the film) and to really judge for oneself what to believe in. Personally I think it is profoundly sad to see how an absolutely, spectacularly great artist has suffered in the hands of the media-craze and money hungry people.
Shoot 'Em Up (2007)
Please don't waste your time!!!!!!!!!!!
Pepole of the world!!! Please, please, please, I am absolutely begging you, Do Not waste you precious time on this complete piece of garbage. I can not believe Clive Owens and Monica Belucci play in such a god awful film. No, sorry, we can't call this a film, because it simply does not have the right to be called a film. It is so horrible, so disgusting, so pointless, aimless and just terrible that I can't even find the right words to describe the degree of its awfulness. there are simply no words to tell you how awful this piece of junk is. So please, watch anything else, but this. one of the worst movies ever made! No, what am I saying, this is The Worst piece of junk I have sat through for 1-2 hours.
Children of Men (2006)
God Awful movie
I can not believe IMDb has a rating of 8.2 for this film. Believe me it is not even worth 5 points, let alone 8.2. And I can certainly not believe that some people would actually like it. The plot of the movie is nonsense. There is nothing connecting to another thing. The director tries to touch on issues like discrimination against illegal immigration, killing of innocents, end of future because of our own destruction portrayed through infertility, but all these important issues were not brought out in a manner to provide any thought provoking of any kind. The idea of infertility for 18 years and a sudden pregnancy had a great potential to be a very good film, but it is lost in incomprehensible fight scenes and sentimental crap, like the Messianic scene of the mother and child going through stunned soldiers and civilians. Oh, and it is also quite sexist. For some reason women are the infertiles. And Luke, who becomes the leader of Fishes after Julian Moore dies, thinks that the child just must be a boy. It's like the waiting of the second coming of Jesus (which, by the way, the name of Jesus is used constantly in the movie). But, guess what! The baby is a girl. The gender of the child shouldn't even have a place in the movie, because the whole theme of infertility and then pregnancy is a hope of continuation of life. Anyway, my disappointment was great especially after watching The Pan's Labyrinth and Babel (the films of the other two Mexican-American directors) and being in love with those movies, this one had a promise of being at least a decent film. BUT IT IS BAAAAADDDDD. If you want something good, watch either Pan's labyrinth or Babel. Don't be fooled by the rating. Don't waste your time.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
Do not waste your time on this movie
And I mean it. it is a complete waste of time. it is awful. The first one, as I recall, was very entertaining, but this one is a total failure. All it has is a bunch of special effects and long fight scenes which are unnecessarily put into the movie. It is painfully long and boring. The acting is good. Depp is, as always, brilliant. But the plot itself is not very engaging or interesting. The plot serves the special effects and the fight scenes rather than vice versa. it seems as if the movie was about what and how the actions took place, then a connector story was built to put all those special effect scenes together. If I didn't have guests in my house watching it with me, I would have turn it off in the middle of the movie and I hardly ever do this. Not worth spending your valuable time on this film.
O Pioneers! (1992)
Very disappointing adaptation of a great novel
I watched the film right after I finished Willa Cather's novel. The book is very beautifully written and I highly recommend reading it. But the movie is a failure in my opinion. Although Lange and Aldrich are brilliant in their acting, but the rest of the characters not only are chosen improperly, but also are pretty disappointing in their acting. The portrayal of Marie and Frank are not accurate enough and do not explain things such as why Alexandra wanted to help Frank get out of jail. The scene of the murder was very generically done, especially after one reads that same scene in Cather's description. In other words I would like to highly encourage the reading of the novel itself, but beware of the disappointing film. Do not waste your time on it.
