Cowboy Bebop: Tengoku no tobira (2001)
Great, but could have been better
First off, let me say this: Loved this movie, though I only saw the dub on the big screen. I guess I'll have to wait to see the Japanese language version...
Anyway, I liked it quite a lot, but in some parts it just feels like the spirit of the show is lost - sometimes it feels like the characters have merely become
overused catch-phrase spouting devices, and the ending's a bit anticlimactic.
That aside, the movie progresses well and there are some great action
sequences. Not to mention the music's great, as always. I give this one a 9 out of 10.
House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
A waste of time and money
In short, this movie was a plotless crapfest. How so? First of all, the plot was too sketchy - sure, a group of teenagers stumbles into a family of homicidal maniacs out in the middle of nowhere. But many of the story's elements felt like they were just tacked on - it kept trying to be like "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", but it even failed in that aspect. Worse yet, it was boring!
My message to Rob Zombie: You lose, buddy, you lose. Do the world a favor
and stick to music.
Spider-Man (2002)
Tee-hee!
Wow! What else can I say? Not a dull moment in this film, folks.
Excellent casting, that's for sure... although Aunt May is kind of creepy... I must say that this is the best comic book adaptation I've ever seen. Keep up the great work, Sam Raimi!
Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994)
Lestat is GOOOOD! (gasp and drool)
Okay. Now that I have that out of my system, here is my review. This is an excellent movie. You can't really say that either the book or the movie is better, because they both have their good points. The movie, for instance, has a plot that moves along smoothly, great acting, and it just has this whole irrisistible feel to it. Like you want to be there. (And it has Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in it!! What else could you ask for?) cough, cough. I mean, it's a really spectacular movie! So go watch it before I go into convulsions!
Dracula 2000 (2000)
Terrifying...
...well, the horrendous acting is terrifying, anyway.
Basically, this is just a really really bad movie. Bad. Bad movie! Bad! I could have fallen asleep in the theater. Someone very well could have taken their anger over having wasted money on this horrendous film out on me!
It has bad acting, a bad plot, horrible writing, it's very predictable, filled with plot holes and plot devices, and Dracula looks like Donny Osmond. Well, my friend thought so, anyway...
Whatever happened to original horror movies, like the ones Wes Craven used to make? Anyway, don't bother renting this or buying it. All it will do is bore you, perhaps make you cry. I mean, over the bad acting. It's not like anything in this movie can cause you to feel emotionally drained...
On a lighter note, it can be really fun to tear apart this movie, if you're one of those people who loves Mystery Science Theater 3000...
