Lost in Translation (2003)
A perfect movie
If you were to go out hunting "the perfect movie" this must surely be it. Sofia Coppola shows the story of two people living in an alien world (in this case Tokyo). Bill Murray gives his greatest ever performance a character you can truly believe in, whereas Scarlet Johansson plays the woman who is bored with this travelling lifestyle seeking friendship and culture, while battling insomnia.
From the score, the story through to the cinematography this is the perfect movie for when you are feeling low.
Colin (2008)
Struggle in the kitchen
I'm sure the film is indeed a feet of filmmaking with its £40 budget, but I genuinely thought this was awful. The scene at the start is the most laboured thing I've ever seen. It seriously could have been wound up in 15 minutes, but as we all know short films seldom get the attention of features.
Great for breaking a mould, but bad for not doing it well enough.
Aleister Crowley: Legend of the Beast (2013)
Truly awful
I had the misfortune of triggering a double bill of Dom Lemoir films, the first I saw was this, a truly abysmal film, poor direction, camera work and acting. This guy seriously should just be a runner or something. Both his films 6 years apart were truly horrendous.
I Care a Lot (2020)
A struggle morally
The film is reasonably addictive, the score is epic, the performances pretty good. But the morality was just so misjudged, you need someone in a film to root for, this film had nobody you could like, the morals were all off whack too, it's like a guide on how to destroy old peoples lives, I feel it went too far off par.
Winter Ridge (2018)
The best thing is the trailer
I was aware this was a low budget british movie, but the trailer seemed awesome. It's literally where it ends though, this was terrible, poor script, poor performances.
It's Always Been You! (2020)
Pretentious
Saw this film as part of a festival and it seemed really promising at the start, however after 15 minutes it turned into pretentious drivel. The colour was great, Camera at time bumpy, but the script was abysmal.
