After the Flood (2024)
There is one major reason for scoring 8
If there is any question about why it should be rated an 8 it's the leading actor/actress Sophie Rundle.
God, how can a heavily pregnant woman, in a police uniform to boot be so bloody gorgeous.
The story line isn't that bad, a combination of local tragedies due to flooding, distinct overtones of corruption and council indifference to the needs of the locals and climate change, and some sinister goings on in the background that have people killed.
But again I come to my main point, put the gorgeous Sophie in front of a camera dresses in a scarecrow and I need extra blood pressure tablets to get through the whole series.
Air Collision (2012)
Oh please stop the griping and enjoy
Just for once I can honestly say that I have watched a US disaster film and enjoyed it! For all the moaners, you need to remember something. Most of the C movies (one step down from a classic B movie) really are painful to watch. The 'mega shark v mega shark' and 'environmental disaster' films made at the rate of 5 a day are REALLY bad! They usually start off with a bad environmental situation, something a lot of Americans deny anyway, and take a nose dive when incompetent and hung Ho US service personnel get involved and screw everything up!
But this film is a whole lot different. The ONLY characters missing from it were Bruce Willis and Laurel and Hardy, Bruce because he would have refused to give in and taken over single handed from Laurel and Hardy who were determined to destroy everything in sight because they are so incompetent and zany!
It really was a roller coaster of accidents waiting to happen and doesn't leave anyone with a positive opinion of American technology or military discipline or general intelligence for that matter.
Airforce One has so many faults onboard that one could be forgiven for thinking it was an ex Airplane aircraft after it had been beaten up by Leslie Neilsen! Everything that could go wrong did, including the onboard security system that zaps anyone trying to help the pilots, the onboard missiles that are fired at a civilian aircraft and the C-130 designed to rescue the President and wife by means of a tube connecting the two aircraft that breaks away when a ceiling bolt comes adrift and drags an airforce officer behind the Presidents plane with the First Lady, only to lose his grip and fall back into an engine of the C-130 and brings it down.
Meanwhile onboard the civilian aircraft one passenger goes berserk when he loses his papers and has to be strapped down, another huge man has a heart attack and is left dead in the aisle. The missile hits the plane but stops short of leaving through the other side and sits on the aircraft floor until the passengers lift it out of the hole in the fuselage and drop it accidentally on a fuel station on the ground and kills everyone there! Another passenger dies after asking for her tablets that are in her luggage that is part of an emergency seal filling up the hole made by the missile. She dies frothing at the mouth as another passenger prevents another from getting her medication.
On the ground air traffic controllers attempt to get through to each aircraft until a falling piece of satellite destroys the control room. Another woman has the answer to all the problems and unable to finish her journey when a bridge is blown up by ANOTHER bit of satellite buys someone's mountain bike and cycles to the air traffic control centre only to be held at gunpoint by an over zealous guard.
With lasers zapping everyone on board Airforce One the rescue finally comes when the Presidents daughter gets into the cabin and uploads the necessary codes into the computer.
At the end the civilian aircraft (a true credit to its manufacturers) when it hits several buildings without so much as scratching the paintwork finally lands on a road and blows up after everyone gets off.
What's not to like? It was a great watch and I may actually buy a copy if I get the chance, a great mental lift during lock down.
