Avatar (2009)

Another movie spectacular by James Cameron

When I first heard about this film I was looking forward to it a lot but I must admit when I saw the trailer it didn't really do it for me. It wasn't what I thought it would look like. But as I like every other James Cameron film I thought I would check it out and I must say it is spectacular. I didn't think I would like but it is one of the best films I have ever seen.

The visual effects are just amazing. There is no other word to describe it. Pandora actually felt like it was real. It was that good. The attention to detail was brilliant. It just looked so realistic, visually stunning. The scene where Jake learns how to fly looked amazing. The dragon like creatures looked very real and were very well designed. I loved it when Jake and Neytiri were racing down the side of the mountain. The camera angle they got on that was brilliant.

The last 30 minutes of the film was just breathtaking. I mean it was all systems go. It was non stop action the whole way. James done a great job of putting that together. It was just so well done. They had some great moments when it went slow motion. That was brilliant. It was just so mad with all helicopters and the navi in the air taking each other out.

Colonel Miles who was played by Stephen Lang was the best character for me. He played him so well that he really made you hate him because he was just so brutal. He just didn't really care about anyone. He just pretty much wanted everyone dead. The look of his character was spot on, making him big and mean and having those scars across his face.

Also the navi looked really good. I mean loads of people were saying they looked rubbish in the trailer but on the big screen they looked amazing. It was just amazing how they got the facial expression looking so good. I mean when Jake jumped in the lake when he was being chased it looked so real when the water was dripping from his face.

James Cameron can definitely be happy with this film. He just never disappoints. Some of his camera angles were brilliant. They were just so clever. I mean the end battle must have taken him ages to film, let alone edit.

This film is definitely one was best films I have ever seen and gets me really excited to see what the film industry could be like in a few years to come with technology like this. It is so entertaining and will have you glued to the screen throughout the whole film and wanting to see what Cameron can come up with next. I can't wait to see what the sequel will be like.

Adulthood (2008)

Brilliant follow up to KiDULTHOOD

Having loved the first one, I wasn't sure if this one would meet the mark of Kidulthood but I have to say it did. I wouldn't say it is better than the first but it is still really good. It was good to see they had a lot of new faces in the cast who played their parts well. I thought Scarlett Johnson who played Lexxi was brilliant. She played her role really well and was very convincing. Was very weird seeing her face again since the last time I saw her was in Eastenders and I thought she was good in that.

The groups of youths were good apart from Dabs played by Plan B. I didn't think he was a very good choice for his character. I know he was a part of the soundtrack but he just wasn't very good at acting. Sams brother was very good and I was very impressed with his acting. Adam Deacon who plays Jay and Femi Oyeniran who plays Moony gave great performances as well. Especially Adam who shows his acting abilities at the end scene.

Neol Clarke does a excellent job acting, directing and writing. I can't believe he done all of that. For first time directing he does really well and yet again he does a great job at writing. The story over all was really good. Makes you see how much Sam had change and how he wants to get on with life and how he portrayed the different life's of Jay and Moony. He writes some brilliant scenes like the scenes where Sam meets his Mum, where he meets Alisha and her daughter and where he speaks to his brother. Really well written.

And like the first film it had a great soundtrack thanks to Ashley Thomas aka Bashy. He chose some great songs and artists for the soundtrack. They had some great songs like Kidulthood to Adulthood, Who R U, F Ur X and many more. I really wanted them to use the MySpace winner song by Dot Rotten because it was very good and would of gone well with the film. The cinematography was really good as well just like the first and i really like the way they did the split screens. Thought that it was really clever.

If you have seen the first, you really must see this. Although I think it has it's down falls like the first, it is still worth watching and it will leave you shocked by the end. A very Enjoyable film but you must see the first to see this one.

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Wow!!! the film the first wished it was!!! brilliant

I have just got back from watching Incredible Hulk and just had to write about it. After finding out that Louis Leterrier was directing the film I new that this film would be a lot better than the first. He produces some amazing action sequences such as Transporter and Unleashed. He also has a brilliant eye for where the camera should and gets some brilliant shots in the film.

I was also very impressed with the acting. Edward Norton, Tim Roth and Liv Tyler give brilliant performances as the leading cast members. I had doubts over Edward Norton but he really does give a brilliant performance and proves that he was the right man to play the Hulk. I thought the way Tim Roth played his character was very good.

People were saying the Hulk CGI was rubbish but when they watch this on the big screen thy will see how good it really looks. The Hulk in the first one was good but this one was a lot better. It just looked more realistic, showing stretch marks of the skins and all the veins popping out of him. Abomination was also very well made from CGI. It looked brilliant with all the bones sticking out his back. Made him look more menacing.

The action sequences of the film were amazing. Although there was only three, they lasted a long time and produced brilliant action. The part where they trap Hulk at the university was really good. Just how Hulk should be smashing things all over the place and causing havoc. But the end action sequence was amazing. At first i thought people were over exaggerating that it was 20 minutes long but they really weren't. It did last that long. It's how the last film should of ended with cars being thrown all the over the place and building get destroyed. Abomination and Hulk really do cause havoc.

Overall this is far better than the first one and should not put you off this one. It is loads better. You will love the action sequences and the action from the main cast members. This is defiantly one of the best comic book film made and the most enjoyable. You will love this film even if aren't to keen the the comics. Go see it. you won't be disappointed.

The Replacement Killers (1998)

Roller-coaster ride from start to finish

From the start of the film you know what to expect. This is Chow Yun-Fats first film in America and I think he does a brilliant job. Gets his character spot on. The directer Antoine Fuqua did a brilliant for his first feature film and can't wait to see his films in the future.

The shootouts he produced were brilliant and reminded me of some of Chow Yun-Fats past films. They lasted a good time and were not boring at all. Chow Yun-Fats movement with the gun is just like he did in "The Killer". He moved like some kind of ballerina with guns which reminded me of him in "Hard Boiled". I love shootouts and the ones in these are some of the best I have seen. The shootout in the car wash was brilliant. Loved the way the made it look in there.

The story was OK. Not great but OK. I no the story has probably been done before but most stories have been. I liked the way they made Chow Yun-Fats character to be caring person, not someone who goes around killing people for fun. Mira Sorvino acted her role brilliantly which showed she was a Academy Award winner.

Overall I really enjoyed this film and thought it was a brilliant action film. I'm sure this will be a great film for action fans to watch and also for you Chow Yun-Fat fans. The shootouts will blow you away

Universal Soldier (1992)

A great action movie

This is a brilliant action film, with brilliant action sequences. It a shame action movies from today aren't made like this. OK the story is a bit ludicrous but i think they do a good job and they defiantly got the lead roles right using Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundren. They did a really good job being tough. The fights scene were good between the both of them, especially the end fight. I thought that was brilliant. I really like the chase when Dolf Lundren was chasing JCVD in the jail truck. That was very good and ended very well. It's a shame both action stars don't make as good as films as this any more, because if they did i'm sure they would be up there with the action stars.

I found this film very enjoyable and they always had brilliant action sequences to keep you occupied. They weren't too long or too short with was good. This is a must see for you action fans out there. You will enjoy all the action sequences they have to offer in this film.

A Better Way to Die (2000)

A brilliant action film

I didn't really expect much from this film. I thought it would be just some cheap movie that would hardly have any action sequences and a poor script. I was so wrong. From start to finish there was really good action and the script was really good. I mean Scott Wiper wrote, directed and starred in this film and i think he did a very good job doing all that. The story was good because it was a good and different. Most action films these days will have the same story as other films but this didn't which is good to see.

All the action sequences that occurred in the film were really. Weren't over the topped or went on for ever just right. The shootout at the beginning and in the supermarket were both really good. As for the second explosion that was just mad. You could see the sonic wave from it was that powerful. The acting was good as well. Was a bit wooden at times but that hardly occurred. I really like Andre Braugher character in it. I thought he portrayed him really well and acted brilliantly through out the film.

All in all this is a really good action film to sit in and watch with popcorn. It a shame it didn't get released in the cinemas because i'm sure if it was more people would of herd of this.

Rollin' with the Nines (2006)

A Brilliant London Gangster Film

There was only really one thing that made me give this film 8 stars and that was the acting. Sometimes it was good but most times it was bad. The only actors that was good through out the film were Naomi Taylor, Vas Blackwood and Robbie Gee. Apart from that i thought it was a really good film. For Julian Gilbey first film i thought he did a brilliant job. Told the story very well and kept it fast paced at all time with shoot outs and chases. The car chase was brilliant. Got all the right angles, especially when they did the shots in the helicopter and the chase that happened after that was a really good on foot chase with good stunts at the end of it. It was brilliant. The shoot out in the house was really good. The effects for the bullets was good and when they found those bodies, that was rank. looked really real. I mean for a low budget film they do a really good job which with all the stuff they did in it. One of the best features of the film is the brilliant soundtrack. Artist such as Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Shy Fx, Sizzla and many more produce some really good songs to go with the film.

All in all this is a very good low budget British gangster film. It is entertaining yet shocking at times when you think this stuff can be actually happening which makes it all the more gripping to watch. This is a must see for those people that really like gritty gangster films with a lot of violence in it.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

Not great but better than the first

The first fantastic four was OK but this 1 was a lot better. Although it were great it was better than the first. You saw more action than you did in the last one and you got to see the fantastic four use their powers more. The CGI was brilliant and made the end fight scene look brilliant. I think for this one they wanted to focus more on the action rather than story telling because in the it was mainly all about that and not much action to see which was fairly disappointing but this one made up for it with the action. I didn't think Jessica Abla was very good playing her role as the invisible women just like the first one. Also in the film it was quite funny at times just like the first one. I thought the script wasn't to good and they could of done better with that.

I thought this film was enjoyable to watch. my expectations weren't really running high but it was very enjoyable. If you like the first one and are a fan of fantastic four there i'm sure you will enjoy this. But if you didn't like the first you will probably not like this.

Aliens (1986)

Easily the best of all the aliens

When I first watched Alien i was really impressed and had to get Aliens. I wasn't sure if this could be as good because most sequels hardly ever surpass the first. But I thought this was a lot better. Don't get me wrong the first was brilliant but this was amazing. Everything was right. They had a brilliant cast, brilliant story, brilliant effects and brilliant acting.

The thing i was most impressed about was the design of it all. It looked amazing. They Made things look realistic and the aliens looked really good as well. The aliens home was put together brilliantly. For a 1986 film they made the effects look really good and the set. The king alien looked very good and the set of it's home was very good as well. Yet again Sigourney Weaver puts on a brilliant performance as like she did in the first one and Jennette Goldstien as Pvt Vaquez gave a great performance and is one of the best movie heroes ever.

With the first film it had a lot of parts that made you jump and had you on the edge of your seat. It was exactly the same with this one. There were lots of parts that made you jump and nearly the whole film had you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what was going to happened next and they had a lot more gore in this than the first which was good to see because i thought in the first it would be fairly gory but it weren't that much.

If you thought the first was good you must watch this. You will be blown away by the effects and design and the great action sequences they have with the aliens. It is one of the best films made and it will keep you entertained from start to finish.

Ghost Rider (2007)

The only thing worth watching is the visual effects

This wasn't a film i really, really wanted to see, i just wanted to see it because my friend told me it is really good. But i really wish i hadn't of listened to him. I thought it was awful. The only thing that was good about it was the visual effects which is brilliant, but apart from that it was crap. The action sequences were really short and weren't that brilliant anyway. The film was just going know where. For me it was just about ghost rider trying to stop Blackheart from possessing one thousand evil souls on to the earth and thats it. If i was you i wouldn't waste your money on this at all. Even if you were a fan of ghost rider fan i think you will be very disappointed. If you are looking for film to make go "wow thats was brilliant" look some where else because this is no where near that mark.

Equilibrium (2002)

One of the best Sci-fi Action film ever made

This film is amazing. It is truly stunning and very enjoyable. The story was really good. It was good to see a different story. David Wimmer wrote a brilliant script and directed brilliantly. Also the cinematography was brilliant as well. Christian Bale put in a stunning performance as all ways. Since the poor Reign of Fire, all the films he chooses after that seem to be huge successors and very good. Taye Diggs was good as well and played a very good villain. The gun fights they produced in it were amazing. Especially the end one.

The only thing that annoyed me a bit was the fight between Christian Bale and Taye Diggs at the end. I was looking forward to it thinking i would be brilliant but it only lasted like 10 seconds which was disappointing. They could of made it much better and longer. It's a shame there aren't other films that produce such brilliant gun fights like this. Most films these days go over the top an make gun fights last for ages but this film just made them just the right length and made them thoroughly enjoyable to watch.

This film is a must see. Not just amazing gun fights but has a good story towards it. For people that loved the Matrix you will love this. If you thought the gun fights in the Matrix were good check this one out. They will blow you away.

Torque (2004)

Speeding out of control

I love bikes and great chases, but for me that doesn't make a good film. The rest was crap. I mean Bike Boyz wasn't very good but it was actually going somewhere and had some kind of story towards it unlike this. I mean The story was crap, acting was crap (especially ice cube) and the CGI at the end was so bad. It looked like something out of a play-station 1. They could of made this so much better. I mean the cast was good but it's a shame the script wasn't. I only really liked the chases. They were just crazy. The stunts they did were mad as well. The chase in the woods place, on the highway and on the train are cool. You could just watch it for that. It's the only thing worth watching about this film. If you really like bikes and just want to see chases and extremely nice bikes then watch but if you are expecting more then don't bother.

Alien vs. Predator (2004)

Humans vs Aleins and Pedators

This film is nothing like the game. I mean they call is Alien vs Predator but it's not. There is only one proper fight between aliens and predators. I mean don't get me wrong it is a wicked fight but it is a shame that they didn't do more than one. In the Game it is none stop fighting. In the end it is just killing the humans. I suppose we new that would happen but the whole idea of the film is to see the Alien and Predators kill each other.I thought it was stupid when Alexa befriends one of the predators.

The only positive things i can really give about this film is that the CGI is really good, the fighting sequences are good and the story is OK. If you love the game and are expecting to be non stop fighting between the aliens and predators then you will be disappointed but if you haven't played the game and don't know what to expect you will probably like it.

The Parole Officer (2001)

A brilliant comedy

This a very enjoyable film and is a great family film as well only if the kids are older than 12. I first watched it on video finding it at a car boot sale. I was defiantly glad i got it because i couldn't stop laughing through out the whole of the film. Since i have had it i have watched it about 8 times and still laugh each time. It has a great cast in it as well, such as Ben Miller, Om Purin, Lena Headey and many more. They all put in great performances that keep the audience laughing thanks to Steve Coogan who wrote the film himself. This a brilliant British comedy and will keep you laughing through out the whole of the film.

The Marine (2006)

An OK action movie

I had wanted to see this movie for a long time because it looked really good. When i finally saw it i was impressed with it and also disappointed. I thought for an action movie it had a hell load of action which was good with great stunts. The car chase was brilliant and so was the fighting. The only thing that spoiled it was that they kept using CGI for like everything. It looked good but they shouldn't of used it as much. The story is OK but not brilliant. I think the ending of the film is good because they use great action sequences and stunts and they don't really use CGI. Some of the acting was good and some was bad. I don't think John Cena should do any more films. He could be a good action man but he can't act. All round this is an OK action movie but should only be watch if you just want to watch things get blown up, crazy stunts and great fights, otherwise you probably won't like it.

Undisputed 2: Last Man Standing (2006 Video)

One of the best fight films i have ever seen

At first i didn't think much of this film but i just wanted to see it and i am defiantly glad i did. It is such a great film. i really enjoyed it with it's amazing fights scenes. Some of the moves they use are brilliant. I hadn't seen some of them before. All the fights scenes were brilliant and none of them used wires, which was good to see because most films use them now a days. Michael Jai Whte and Scott Adkins produce some amazing fights scenes, show some amazing moves and both act very well. The choreography is brilliant and make all the fights scenes look so realistic. The story for the film is very good and the the location of the film is the perfect place. This film is great to watch with it's amazing fights scenes which will keep you amazed through out the whole of the film and it is the perfect film for people that love martial arts and fighting.

Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

Now this is what i call a proper action film

Having loved all the die hard films I wasn't sure if this was going to be anygood. It had to be amazing to be like the others......and it was brilliant. From start to finish it was non-stop action. The stunts and action sequences were brilliant and some of them left me on the edge of my seat. In most action films you will have most action sequences wrecked by CGI e.g The Marine. Nearly all action Sequences, they used CGI which just spoiled it. I am glad Die Hard 4 didn't do that. I mean the part where the police car flies into the helicopter was unreal. Most people thought that was CGI but no they actually did that. The part at the end with the jet destroying the bridge was brilliant. Timothy Olyphant play a great villain and i am looking forward to seeing him in his new film Hit-man. Justin long plays his character really well as does the rest of the cast. Over all this is a fun filled action packed fananza which will keep you hooked till the end.

Simon Sez (1999)

Deffintly not worth £2

I saw this on DVD for £2 and i thought i would check it out and see if it is any good and............it's crap. Seriously this is not worth £2. It is a load of crap. They make so many mistakes. At the beginning this bike does a flip and on 1 shot he faces the wrong way but in the second shot the bike amazingly turns the right way. The acting is rubbish. Dennis Rodman can't act to save his life and neither can the others but i must admit that i found Dane Cook funny at times. The action is poor and ruined by special effects and the gadgets are just stupid. What ever you do don't watch this film. It is rubbish from start to finish.

Wake of Death (2004)

Easily Van Dammes best film

I have seen a lot of Van Damme films and his recent ones have been pretty poor. I didn' think he could actually make a good come back. The last good film he did was Hard Target. I didn't expect a lot from this, expecting this to be like the other he has done but i was wrong. This had to of been one of the best action of 2004. It was brilliant. I think Van Damme has finally realised what a good script is and a good film is. I have never really seen Van Damme act properly and in this film he really shows he can act. He gives a brilliant performance.

It has a lot of great things in it like brilliant cinematography, great music, brilliant action sequences and great acting. I thought the storyline was very good. Good to see a different story. As for the action i thought it was brilliant. They didn't go over the top with it and have rubbish action sequences. They were all really good and were well balanced. I would of liked to of seen more fighting from Van Damme. I thought I was going to see plenty of but probably saw about 1 minute of it. That is the only criticism i have about it. Everything else about the film is brilliant.

This film is must see action film and a must see fr all you Van Damme fans. You will be pleased to see that Van Damme has made a good film. It ashame this film didn't go to the cinemas because i'm sure it would of done well.

Snakes on a Plane (2006)

Crazy ass snakes on a plane, with Samuel L Jackson - Love it

From start to finish i was entertained. The title may sound a bit lame but forget that. It was probably the best title for it. It makes a great action, horror, thriller. The action was really good. I like jumpy films and i jumped a lot of times but i did kind of expect that. The CGI for the snakes was really good. Some people say it is crap but it is so hard to make snakes look good and vicious. i mean they ain't exactly going to use real snakes. The gore was good too. I liked it when that massive snake swallowed that posh prick. Samuel L Jacksons great tag-lines, somes up a great film. If you don't like snakes you will probably hates snakes even more but for everyone else see this film.

Drive (1997)

One of the best martial arts film EVER

If you are looking for a film that is a proper action film with non-stop action, stunts and fights scenes then you have come to the right place. The action is quality, especially the ending and the stunts are brilliant and they look so dangerous and crazy. But the fights scenes...WOAH. They are amazing. The choreography is brilliant. The moves Mark Dacascos are breath taking. You might think he used wires to do some of it but no he didn't. He did all his fight sequences on his own. Kadeem Hardison and Mark Dacascos are good partnership and they add Britney Murphy in to give it some more comedy in which she does. This film will blow you away with it's amazing fights scenes. It is a must see for action fans with great action.

Wolf Creek (2005)

Bloody scary

There is some scary sh*t that happened in this film. It being based on true events which make it's worse. I'm not a major fan of horrors, i mean i like them but i don't watch them all the time. Some of the horrors i have seen in the past were crap but this one is no way near that mark. At the beginning it is a little slow but when it gets into it, it is quality. It keeps you on the edge of your seat all the time. At some points it will make u cringe because it is gruesome and the acting is just brilliant. They make it feel so real. This horror is one of the best of 2005 and is a must see for horror fans. I am sure this film will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Batman Begins (2005)

Easily the best comic book to film movie

This is defiantly better than the old batman films. They were good but just lacked the action and acting. The new batman brings a new look to batman. I think Christian Bale plays batman really well and he is a lot better than previous batman such as George Clooney, Val Kilmer. Micheal Keaton was the best one from the previous batman. The action sequences from batman were very entertaining, especially the car chase in the new bat mo-Bil and thought they did a good job the car. The story was brilliant because it showed us a new villain those that didn't read the comics or watch the cartoon. Cillian Murphy played the scarecrow very well and i'm sure scared a few people with his performance. This movie is very entertaining and i'm sure everyone will be glad to see batman back at it's best and good too see they have found the right actor for the role of batman.I am defiantly looking forward to the Dark Night hitting the cinema June 2008.

Ronin (1998)

A great action thriller

This film has to go down as one of the best action thrillers of all time. It has everything in it. Some action films lack the acting and have the same old story but not this one. Robert De Niro and Jean Reno are among the cast and perform really well. The film was well written and well directed. This film will mainly be known for it's great action scenes and it's memorable car chase. It has two car chases but the second one is the one to look out for. The first chase is still really good tho. You will be hooked on it till the end and will love the the action scenes. I would advice any action fan to watch this because i am very sure you will enjoy.

Blast (2004)

An average movie

There are some good points and bad points to the movie.

Good Points:

1. Good special effects 2. Great action scenes 3. Funny at times

Bad Points:

1. Acting at some points isn't great 2. Tries to be like die hard 3. Eddie Grifin ain't an action man

It is a very different film for Eddie griffin. Most of his film are comedy but to be honest action man is not his stile. He does do OK but not good enough. So if you are looking for the spectacular you are looking at the wrong film but if you want to just watch a action film watch it.
