Mother of the Bride (2024)
Just too awkward
I don't know if I actually hate this movie or that I just very much dislike it. What a horrible storyline and so unbelievable. I think the only decent thing I have to say about it is that the quality of the shots is actually quite allright.
The actors who were supposed to be mother and daughter and who were supposedly father and son felt nothing like it. I don't have anything against the actors, they just did not match at all. They felt like the more believable relation towards eachother would have been as friends, but just with an age gap. And how weird was the story; all the events happened within seconds and the bride said her mother was a piece of work but they could not be more lovely people. There was no real-life drama and no trauma (good for them).
But finally; how weird and how horrible would it be if your mother and father-in-law got engaged. I could not see the fact that my mother got a relationship separate from that my mother is dating my husbands dad. That's just too much.
The Secret of My Succe$s (1987)
One of my favorite movies
This movie is an all-time classic, I love it so much; it is not only funny, but it is simply hilarious. And it's such an easy and enjoyable watch. I would say it's like a 13/14+ movie, so not completely for the whole family.
But it's also different from all the other movies, I've simply never seen anything like it. It starts with the classic story; small town Kansas kid wants to make it in the big city. But the way he tries to do it is absolute GOLD. And the ending, when they take over the company, is a written masterpiece if you ask me.
I'd say it's an absolute must watch if you love 70's and 80's movies!
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023)
If I had the time I would have watched it in a day!
What a delight to watch! It gives you so much more insight in how the Queen came to be who she is now (in the Bridgerton serie).
It is truly a great addition to the Bridgerton story/serie! And my; are the actors and actresses an amazing cast! They very well fit with the younger/older actors and actresses who they portrait. A truly must watch if you love the original Bridgerton series!
I was also very interested to learn more about the life of Lady Danbury. I believe there is still so much more to learn and tell about the world where the Queen and the Bridgertons live in and I can't wait to get to know them all better.
After the Storm (2019)
Suitable for all ages
It's a very wholesome movie to watch. To be honest; it did not at all feel like the movie was an hour and a half. It just felt like had been watching for about 20 minutes.
It's VERY family friendly movie, and although it definitely has clichés in it, I did not mind it at all.
There is not a lot that happens in this story and that makes it very easy to follow and it is great to watch while you're doing other stuff.
I recommend it for people who love a romance story and a happy ending.
And the actors did a great job. There also weren't a lot a faces that were important to remember, which again, makes it an easy watch.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018)
Great action movie!
What a way to start the movie! The first rescue mission is probably the best action scene throughout all of the three movies!
For this one counts the same as for the second movie; it's a great story, but it's 100% not the same as the book.
I love both stories (book and movie) separately and because they are so different I see them as two different stories.
It was a real relief to hear Newt say his two most famous lines in this movie; I'm really glad they at least kept that! But because of the way that Newt died it changes the characters of Newt and Thomas completely, and I wish to have seen that differently...
Overall it's an absoluut great action movie and I recommend (re)watching it!
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015)
I would re-watch it even though it's different from the book
Yes it was a great movie. Yes I would watch it again. Yes it's a good story. But I can't get over the fact of how 100% different the story is from the book.
I liked that the characters were kept longer in the dark of things in the books and I would love to see the story from the book be turned into a movie, but I still loved the story how they portraid it in the movie.
But as the stories are so much different it does not feel like there stories are about the same people, which might be better than hating the movie because it is so different.
Also; they used things from book two and three throughout this movie, which was quite strange to see.
The Maze Runner (2014)
Great movie!
This first movie of The Maze Runner Trilogy is the most book accurate of them all.
Yes, they still changed stuff, but I think the story is better off now that they left some details out (for example the speaking through each others minds from Thomas and Teresa).
I did, however, think that the story went too quickly. If I'm counting correctly; from the time that Thomas arrived in the Glade to when they escaped, it all happened in seven days. Which is weird considering they had been stuck in the glade for three years (in the book two years). But in the book Thomas was in the Glade for a total of 15 days, which is a little bit more believable.
I overal loved the characters and how they made the story into a movie. Great watch! And I have watched it several more times since my first time.
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries: King Memses' Curse (2012)
What a seasons finale
What a seasons finale! Throughout the first season I had noticed a common reoccurring thing. And it became more and more visible throughout all of the episodes. It was a good way to ease you into what would become these last two episodes.
I do want to say that this last episode was truly horrifying. Mostly I don't do well with that, and I did pauze it a few times, but it does belong in the story and thus I wouldn't have want it another way. (I also know I am just a scaredy cat, so don't mind me)
But I do sincerely hope that we have seen the end of mister Murdoch Foyle; I can only describe him as truly evil and just flat out mad.
Blue Water High (2005)
Great show
I loved most of the episodes of Blue Water High and I've loved all episodes of season 1. It's a great show to watch for teenagers and even adults. It's a fun, interesting and quick watch if you just want to chill. All the episodes aren't too intense and it's just great to follow these kids along during their school year.
But I do want to say that season 2 felt like a copy of season 1, and season 3 was definitely a copy. I didn't mind it as they did add some twists, but in the end I enjoyed season 1 the most and I would re-watch Blue Water High again, that's for sure.
It felt like the further you got into the series the less surfing you saw. And also, it's very noticeable that they hired different actors to do the surfing, but that's okay, you can't forget it was the early 2000's. I also don't get why they called the show 'Blue Water High'; I get that it sounds good, but Blue Water High was the highschool these kids attended besides SolarBlue and you don't see that much about the school. It's about the opportunity SolarBlue gives them and the house they live in during this year, so it would have been more logical to call the show SolarBlue.
Blue Water High: Episode #2.26 (2006)
Not great
This final episode of the season was a serious let-down. A season finale should always be the peak episode; the most interesting one out of them all. This was the opposite; I feel like this was the most boring one of all. It didn't feel like this was the moment their lives would change forever; it felt like a normal day at the surfing academy. It's hard to prove yourself without a surf, but they didn't make a big deal out of it. The competition was watched by none, absolutely no one except the coaches and the jury. That's not the right way to finish the season.
When they announced who won the rest was only happy for them; they showed no emotion to their losing the competition. If you ask me then this was a very lame final episode of the season...
Blue Water High: Episode #2.9 (2006)
Before it's time
I feel like this episode of 'Blue Water High' is so much before it's time. I was quite surprised by the theme of the episode, but I think they handled and spoke about it perfectly!
I sincerely love this episode and love that there was no gender shaming. The schoolmates of the Solar Blue kids were just upset about them not wanting to participate, and they didn't mention they possibly thought a girl should just participate and a boy should not. I love how Corey came up with a solution and I love that everyone was so supportive about it.
It was really great to watch this episode, it creates such a good vibe.
Wednesday (2022)
Recommend!
I was (and still am) very excited when I heard they were making a series about The Addams Family, and especially about Wednesday. It is such a weird and quirky family and I love that they made this world bigger with this series!
However, they changed a lot from the movies to this series. Not perse bad, but there are things that aren't matching. Because of this I see this series more as a new story than that it is actually about Gomez and Morticia.
All of the actors did a FANTASCIC job in playing their characters! And I absolutely LOVE that the actress who played Wednesday in the movies is in this series! I would have loved to see her play Morticia, but am not mad she played someone else.
I did however guess the monster and who was behind it correct since episode 1. Oeps.
Falling for Christmas (2022)
Another Christmas movie
Although the story is not one of a kind (at all), it is sometimes nice to watch the same story in a different movie.
I think it was a great movie for Lindsay Lohan to get back into acting scene again. She absolutely did not do a bad job, however, I think that it was really weird how such a 'worldwide famous' person is not missed for such a long time and is not recognized by so many people. Even her boyfriend who wasn't as known as her; people would ring alarm if they haven't heard from him for several days, but he normally is on Instagram about 50 times a day.
It's just not very realistic. Sorry.
A Princess for Christmas (2011)
Very good movie for the Christmas feeling
This movie is such a heart warming story. They don't tell you much about the past; they don't go too deep into it, but you can feel the depth of it.
A movie like this I would call a 'feel good movie'.
I like that the story is different from most 'royal Christmas movies' where most of the time one of the main characters has royal blood but hasn't told the other or one of the main people is a spoiled rich brat and the next one comes into their life and they learn what real love is. Both main characters are sweet and humble; they go great together!
And I loved the scene where the grandfathers tells the rich brats off; that was great!
Never Let Me Go (2010)
Great movie
Never Let Me Go is a great movie who lets you stand still and wander in a world that could be ours. It is an amazing story filled with sadness and grief.
However; they followed the big lines of the book, but there is so much more that goes on in the story than just what they put in the movie. Yes, these are the biggest lines of the story, but they did mix up some of the stories, sadly.
I highly recommend you read the book as well. It doesn't really matter in which order you do it, but it felt like one and a half hours is just too short to tell this tragic story.
They did portret the characters really well in the movie! I am very happy about that.
Knives Out (2019)
Agatha Christie Vibe
I absolutely love movies like this! It gives me an Agatha Christie story vibe. I love that it's obviously fake and they don't make it as scary is most murder stories. In that way it's perfect for people who love a mystery but can't handle the scariness. I always love it when I can solve the mystery alongside the movie and they try put you on different paths and theories every time. The story is creative and I thought the reveal was very good, although I had my doubts about her being guilty and Hugh being so innocent from the beginning.
If you like of love this movie you could also watch 'Murder on the Orient Express (2017)' Although it is a tiny bit more scary.
'Death on the Nile (2022)' Was also a good one.
Angel Falls Christmas (2021)
Angel Fails Christmas
I thought it was refreshing that for once the main character didn't fall in love with someone she just met and actually went back to the guy she broke up with in the beginning who was a great guy. But for the rest of the movie I basically begged Chad Michael Murray to just talk normally and not in this creepy voice. I really enjoy him as an actor and he plays (in what I've seen) his characters well, so I was sad to see him play in this movie. I also just think this whole story was a missmatch.
I didn't enjoy how the main angel just kept popping up everywhere. Normally I don't mind it, but this was just creepy.
Along for the Ride (2022)
LOVED IT
Oh Man, I absolutely loved this movie!
It is such a sweet and innocent story, but shows how difficult life can be and how hard it can be to fit in and how great it is to just be yourself instead of wanting others to like you. You don't need many friends, just a few great ones.
I'll totally watch it again and it really made me want to read the book (so I can't wait to do that!)
Love & Gelato (2022)
Seen better movies
A lot of things about the movie didn't feel right; how the characters didn't feel like they were 18 at all. How it didn't fit with the main character that she would suddenly change her mind about drinking wine, while in America it would have taken her three more years to be allowed to.
The movie was not too interesting, more boring I would say. I wouldn't even call it a feel good movie. The acting was fine, but nothing more than just fine either.
Would not perse recommend it.
A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
Not bad, just not like the book
I saw the movie years and years ago for the first time. I read the books a while back and decided to watch the movie again. Bad choice. It's not that it's a bad movie; the opposite of that. However, you should not watch the movie after you have read the books. From the beginning till the end; everything is different and I keep comparing the movie to the books; very frustrating...
