So exciting as a kiss on a american movie
27 August 2003
Once again Guel Arraes and Jorge Furtado did it !

Lisbela e o Prisioneiro tells a story in the fifties of a young girl that loves american movies and a trevelling popular artist. Lisbela dreams with hollywood love stories and her story goes like this. Lisbela shows to the audience all movies clichés, but it doesn't mind, the audience loves clichés.

Smart dialogues, fast editing (more than 2200 cuts) and superb acting makes this film a real enjoyment for everyone.

Highly recommended

The seed of Fellini´s esthetic
18 November 2001
One of the earlier Fellini´s films, Lo Sceicco bianco show some of Fellini´s style: weird characters, bizzare and oniric situations, and abouve all a lot of lirism, showing how beatiful life can be.

The film is an acid comedy about fans and showbiz. A pure fan of printed soap operas met her beloved hero, a kind of Rodolfo Valentim. But the meeting will show her some of the truth about showbiz. Fellini transforms what could be an tragedy in a nice story of redemption.

A great surprise is the participation of Giulietta Massina as Cabíria. Cabíria appears as a common person, not yet as a prostitute, but adds a lot of lirism to film. In my opinion Nights of Cabiria and La Nave Va are the two best of Fellini.

Worth seeing

The Blade Runner of '00 decade
7 September 2001
I think Spielberg made the 'Blade Runner' of decade, i.e., a sci-fi deep philosophy film. A lot of intense human questions are discussed in this picture. Human feelings, fear, love, simulacro, god... are some of the questions.

Haley Joel Osment is a SUPERB actor. The way he develops the robot evolution towards a human being is fantastic. He never blinks his eyes, as a robot should do. This is a facial expression that adds a lot of impact to his role. He really deserves the Oscar this year.

The only thing I would change is the end. It´s a kind of sentimental (Spielberg style), but it doesn't compromise the film as a whole.

This film requires thinking for many days to be fully assimilated.
