Holes (2003)
Worthwhile
I thought this was a very good movie in its own right, but I also liked the fact that it was true to the book, which I absolutely loved. The boys were all good and believable as juvenile delinquents. The weaving of the different storylines was handled well and helped keep the movie from getting boring. This is a movie that will let you leave feeling good, not only because of the happy ending, but because it was actually enjoyable and worth your time.
The Santa Clause 2 (2002)
OK, but just not the same
I absolutely love "The Santa Clause" part one. It really gets me into the Christmas spirit, and it's hilarious. But this second part isn't quite the same. Each actor's performance is not as good as the first movie. The one exception is Eric Lloyd as Charlie. But the plot is too confused, and things are just too rushed. It's missing the charm and humor of the first. It's not horrible, but it just doesn't give the same Christmas feeling "The Santa Clause" originally had.
Newsies (1992)
A Pretty Great Movie
"Newsies" is a wonderful movie. Although it may not be one of the great musicals of all time, it does have some awesome songs and memorable moments. The love story is a little bit strange, especially if you fast-forward the roof-top scene like I always do, but the friendships are nice. It's a good movie for kids and adults, if you can get past measuring it against all those other musicals.
RocketMan (1997)
Hysterical!
This movie is a family favorite. The first time I watched it I thought it was hysterical. The last time I watched it I thought it was hysterical. And the countless times I watched it in-between, I thought it was hysterical. It's not going to give you any life-changing message. In fact, it's pretty dumb, but it's incredibly funny, so that doesn't matter.
My personal favorite part of this movie is the monkey scene. If you've seen this movie, you'll know what I'm talking about. If you haven't seen this movie, and you like weird stuff, go rent it now. It's awesome!
