The Lake House (2006)
Typical Keanu Reeves...
I shouldn't need to say anymore than that, Typical Keanu Reeves. How does this guy continue to work as a successful actor? How does he get roles in movies opposite Al Pacino, Lawrence Fishburne, Dennis Hopper, etc.? How does 95% of the American female population remain captivated by an "actor" who may be easy on the eyes, but couldn't hold his own in a high school drama club? Kathy Ireland may be hot, but the first time you hear her speak you think "why couldn't you just stay on the pages wearing the swimsuit?" Same for Keanu, just hearing him speak makes the sound of nails on a chalkboard seem like the New York symphony. And pair him with one of the worst actresses of our time (Sandra Bullock) and you have unbelievably horrible cinema.
As far as the movie goes, it may have been slightly entertaining with people who could act. As it were, it had me wishing I had some paint to watch drying within the first 5 minutes. My wife actually talked me into watching this garbage instead of a football game. 20 minutes later, she asked me if we could watch the game instead...she couldn't stand this movie either. If you are a human being, with a brain, don't waste your time, money, and sanity trying to watch this. Keanu Reeves will forever be Ted "Theodore" Logan, and nothing more!
Necessary Roughness (1991)
Can't help but like it...
First of all, I'm going to say that this is definitely not American Cinema at its finest. Better movies have been made, better comedies have been made, better football movies have been made. With all that said...I just can't help liking this movie. The acting is decent, with assistant coach Riggendorf (Robert Loggia) being the funniest character. The halftime speech at the climactic "big game" makes me laugh out loud every time. If you're the "hoity-toity" movie critic type who appreciates nothing outside of Oscar-worthy pictures, why are you watching a football movie anyway? If you know how to have a good time watching a movie, and laugh at the eccentricities and vulnerabilities of realistic characters, "Necessary Roughness" is more than worth a look! 7/10
EuroTrip (2004)
Chill out...and enjoy
I've read many, many negative comments about EuroTrip, mostly from uneducated morons who would actually let a movie of this ilk affect their stances on people and social issues. Anyone with 1/2 of a brain can distinguish between this, and say..."Schindler's List." Eurotrip is FUNNY!! It sets out to be nothing more, and delivers nothing less. All the comments about how this movie bashes the people of many European nations obviously come from people who are offended way, way too easily. The stereotypes portrayed are far from realistic, and anyone who takes them seriously should maybe spend a little time away from their TV sets and computers and get out and experience a little LIFE!! To those who have a sense of humor, and just want to watch a movie that requires little thought but will deliver a whole bunch of laughs, check out EuroTrip!!!
