Darkest Hour (2017)
Incredible Subject, Incredible Actor Playing Him
There are many reasons to love this movie. The first is that Winston Churchill is one of the reasons the British Empire still exists, and he shaped the modern world more than you'll ever know.
The next best reason to watch this - just in case you're not interested in this subject - is to watch one of the most gifted actors of our time perfectly play this man. What's amazing about Oldman isn't just that he takes on a different look in his films. He can also completely change his voice to match the character. Watch 1992's Dracula and then this side-by-side and tell me this is the same person playing both characters.
Oldman is one of the few actors I've seen who seems to become possessed by the character they're playing, whether it's a fictional character like Dracula or a real man like Churchill.
It was an honor to watch this movie and this once in a generation talent.
Tales from the Crypt: Yellow (1991)
This is One of the Best Tales from the Crypt Episodes
For people saying this doesn't fit into the Tales from the Crypt series, it's actually an adaptation of an EC Comics story called "Yellow" from Shock Suspenstories issue #1. It was written by Al Feldstein, who wrote many Tales from the Crypt comics. So I'm pretty sure he knew what would resonate with readers of EC Comics.
This is more of a real life horror story that maybe modern boys wouldn't understand because they're so far removed from the kind of devastating war that WWI was. If you don't find war, facing a firing squad, or having a human body fall on you "scary" or think it's "not enough of a twist," you are lucky and don't come from a generation who saw things like that happen in real life.
Anyway, there was a "twist" in this. And it's that the General tricked Martin. The moment when he died was the twist. And in the Comic, it's admittedly more effective than here. But the performances are beautiful, the war scenes are suspenseful, and it's true to the original story, save for the change in name.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
How Much Did Netflix Pay For Their Rating?
I love a good haunted house story. But seriously? This is not the number one horror movie/series ever made, and it's pathetic that anyone would have allowed Netflix Corporate to jack its rating up to #1 without stopping them.
This is mediocre pulp that only a young person who's never seen a real good horror twist would like.
Karla Faye Tucker: Forevermore (2004)
Grotesque and Completely Misguided
The writers of this movie are the reason that sociopaths have a career. There are people gullible enough to believe that a simple double murder is enough to make a grown adult grow a conscience.
In reality, anyone can say they found Jesus, and sociopaths are especially prone to say this because it helps them manipulate people who might help them. Show me a sociopath about to suffer the consequences of pick-axing two people to death and I'll show you someone with 14 years time on their hand and everything to gain by saying they found Jesus.
Only God himself knows if Tucker found Jesus. One thing's for certain, most people who really find him... don't talk about it to easily manipulated public figures who can go on a crusade for them.
9/11: Explosive Evidence - Experts Speak Out (2012)
Stop Profiting from the Grief and Gullibility of Others
I wonder how many terrorists contribute to these movies, perpetuate their lies, and continue to draw attention away from the real monsters of 9/11.
While the government response was obviously incompetent, it's preposterous to claim there was "no raging inferno." You're taking bits and pieces and half-truths and spinning it to make money from the gullible. It should be illegal, but unfortunately it's never going to be illegal to scam people with lies.
If you want evidence of a raging inferno: Please see any of the thousands of personal accounts on 9/11. Please see the fires raging for months after the collapse. Please SEE THE TAPES OF THE TOWERS COLLAPSING AND THE FIERY EXPLOSIONS AT THE TOP OF THE BUILDING, RIGHT AT THE POINT OF THE RAGING INFERNO.
Or maybe listen to the 9/11 calls of dying office workers describing, "black, arid" conditions and "lack of oxygen from smoke and fire."
