Cool Hand Luke (1967)
Cool Hand Luke is the original
There was a scene that popped out at me in Cool Hand Luke. It comes relatively early with his arrival to prison. While he works the ditch, his large adversary Dragline is watching a young country girl as she wash's a car. While she Wash's the car, she presses her breasts against the wet window. The shot is brief, but I have seen it in so many other movies. This was the first to use the shot.
Another thing worth commenting on is the wardens high pitch souther accent. I have also seen this portrayed in some of the goofy Naked Bullet type movies and shows. Also the guard who is known as 'No Eyes.' He wears his reflective sun glasses at all times and has no lines in the movie. He remains a main character by his position and being a great shot with his rifle.
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
International man of comedy
What do you get when you cross Benny Hill with Monty Python? Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.
This movie is a goof on those lame James Bond spy movies. The evil Dr. Evil has come up with a master minded plan and has taken the world hostage! Who better to stop Dr. Evil then his rival Austin Powers. Trained by the British Spy Infantry, Austin looks to set off to find Dr. Evil. After finding him in a 70s swingers club, Dr. Evil escapes with his cat Mr. Bigglesworth. He cryogenically freezes himself in a Big Boy shaped space rocket. Austin has no other choice to be frozen himself.
Dr. Evil makes his return to Earth in the 90's. His evil henchmen are all still loyal and there are some new faces. After the British Government hears of this, Austin is also brought out of his frozen coma. Problem for Austin, its not the 70's. No more swinging or promiscuous sex with other partners. He also seems to have a thing for his partner in crime, Ms. Kenzington. Dr. Evil thought up of a new evil plan and once again holds the world hostage. Our only hope is Austin Powers.
Taint of Greatness: The Journey of Beavis and Butt-Head, Part 2 (2006)
True Taintings
If there was one cartoon in the mid 90's to make a splash, it was Beavis and Butt-head. Taint of Greatness: Part 2 picks up where the 1st Taint of Greatness left off. It goes more in debt of the influence and the ideas that Mike Judge got for the famous teenage duos. It also makes famous appearances by the creators of South Park expressing the influence that Beavis and Butt-head had on South Park. Mike Judge also goes into detail on how he came up with the ideas for his music video parodies. Please don't let me forget to mention that Snoop Dogg has a few good things to say about Beavis and Butt-head. Along with praises from David Letterman. The only reason I give this a 7, is because I have to get the 3rd one separately.
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)
Borat: The international conspiracy
Are you sensitive to offensive comedy? Are you offended easily? Then don't see Borat! That is a warning! I am not sure if I have ever witnessed something that made so many people laugh, and make so many people walk out. I remember while seeing it, the girl next to me had her hand over her mouth in shock the whole movie. Of course she laughed a few times, but she was more shocked that this movie was released to the public.Further more, offensive to other country's. We find Borat in his own country as he exposes you to his own home life and culture. After you get to know his country of Kazakastan, we find him getting shipped off to New York. Here is where the movie gets good. He interviews all sorts of people from African American hoodlums, to a women's rights activist. This is where he watch's a repeat of Baywatch to find his new found love in Pamela Anderson. He finds out through a book store that Pamela will be having a book signing in California, but he's in New York! He some how talks his producer into going cross country to meet his love. There is a whole mess that contains: Bears, ice cream truck, Baywatch guide line, Bed & Breakfast, and frat boys. You have GOT to see the movie for the ending, it will have you rolling the whole time. I honestly don't think I laughed this hard in a while. 10, no doubt.
