A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
cut the length and we may have a decent film
I went to see this film knowing that it was the one which Kubrick had wanted to make yet could not get the necessary cooperation to do so. While the film was good around the hour and a half stage my bum was getting numb, like many other viewers I felt the film should have ended at the stage where the blue fairy was discovered! Jude Law put in an excellent performance as Gigolo Joe and added some much needed comedy. The highlight of the film for my friends and I however, was not the gorgeous Jude but teddy.....where can I get one :)
Beautiful Mistake (2000)
wonderful musical adventure through Cardiff...
This film shows a wonderful portrait of Cardiff as it stands today. Scenes shot around the city (in particular the newly developed Bay area) are displayed along with the music of the incredibly talented John Cale as performed by Wales big stars (Catatonia, Big Leaves, Manic Street Preachers). If you know Cardiff at all then this is the film to watch as it shows the city without over glamourising it but still portraying it's beauty. Added to this is commentary in the beautiful Welsh language...my only question is when will they release the soundtrack and video?
The Virgin Suicides (1999)
What an excellent film...
Wonderful film and not just for for the wonderfully gorgeous Josh Hartnett (Trip Fontaine) and the excellent soundtrack and 70's costumes. Having read the book I went to see this film thinking that it could not possibly live up to my expectations - however, apart from a few minor emissions it followed the story wonderfully and was well acted and directed. The director dealt with a difficult subject and did so with class and understanding!
