Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
"Fear Street Part One: 1994" Review, Fighting the Terror of the Scary and Thrilling Shadyside City
The first minutes of this film are immediately opened with a tense atmosphere. Opened with terror in a mall that attacks a bookstore employee, the audience seems to have been given a guarantee that this film will provide a scary experience.
Even at the beginning of the film, viewers who haven't read the novel may feel a little surprised by the mysterious figure chasing the employee. The description of the atmosphere, starting from the musical score to the small details presented successfully made the audience feel tense.
From what I have seen so far, almost a number of Netflix original films have started to dare to raise LGBT issues. For the author himself, it feels quite disturbing. Viewers who are not used to watching this themed film may feel a little disturbed. Fortunately, this film focuses more on horror and thriller nuances than romance.
In this first series, it appears dominantly and becomes the main premise of a story that is quite bold by putting forward the two main protagonists of a lesbian couple. But in practice, the sexual elements in the first series are still quite shy, and almost their relationship is explained through a dialogue. Fortunately, the romance portion is presented sufficiently without looking too much. This is what made the writer decide to continue this film.
In addition, like American teen films in general, the language and words presented tend to be dirty and rude. This film is indeed intended for teenage and adult audiences, compared to "Goosebumps" which can still be watched by children.
The three killers carried out their actions with sadistic and totality. So that the teenagers who try to fight it also have difficulty, even many have become victims. How their costumes, voices, and movements succeeded in making the audience feel the creepy atmosphere in the film.
Yes! This horror thriller film is a film that relies on a fairly dominating musical score. Almost in every spooky scene and when the ghost comes, it is always given tense music. So the atmosphere in this film feels less natural.
In addition, the soundtracks of 90s songs also make this film more colorful.
Unfortunately, although the thriller and horror elements are quite good in this film, there are still aspects that make this film feel unsatisfactory. One of them is the characters in the film. All the characters in this film seem to just be "victims" of murder and the audience will not feel sympathy for the players.
In fact, if this film lengthens its duration a little and makes a little flashback or deepens the characterization of the characters, the audience will definitely feel emotional. Like conjuring films or other western horror films.
The cinematography presented in this film tends to be dark. The depiction and set up of the 90s location actually looks not very realistic. Some of the highlighted spots look too modern for the 90s.
Overall, "Fear Street Part One: 1994" is quite qualified to be a summer rollercoaster thriller that is suitable and enjoyable as a spectacle for entertainment, without requiring us to involve excessive reasoning.
"Fear Street Part One: 1994" managed to open the parade of Netflix's horror trilogy quite well. Scary and suspenseful but less satisfying for Horror movie lovers. Hopefully part 2 of this film can be better in terms of storytelling and horror aspects.
Fix You (2020)
Learn to Know Health and Mental Illness through the Korean Drama "Fix You"
This drama brings the theme of a psychiatrist's life in curing his patients. There are various kinds of mental illness presented in this drama, such as borderline personality disorder, excessive hallucinations, alcoholism, and even pornography addicts.
With a duration of about 30 minutes per episode, this drama successfully brings the issue of mental health neatly and accompanied by complete information. So, we as viewers will know various mental illnesses that we may not know about at this time.
This theme was also taken by "It's Okay to Not Be Okay". However, in my opinion, this drama is more clear in raising the issue of mental health than the drama "It's Okay To Be Not Oka"y.
If the IOTBNO drama focuses too much on the love between Ko Mun Yoong and Moon Gang Tae, and only focuses on autism. Meanwhile, in the drama "Fix You", even though there is romance, it is not conveyed excessively and does not make the themes raised just disappear.
Watching the first episode alone made me cry. The first and second episodes tell about Cha Dong II who dreams of becoming a police officer and he always fails the test.
Due to his excessive desire to become a police officer, he takes other people's police uniforms and wears them for patrolling even though he is not registered with the police.
However, the doctor, Lee Shi Joon, was able to heal him in a unique way and deserves much appreciation as a doctor.
He is able to make his patients as friends, and make his patients comfortable when talking with him.
The same plot, how he heals patients and heals his own trauma, is delivered consistently until the final episode. Although it decreased slightly in episodes 20-25, in episodes 26-30 it was again consistent with the plot that was presented from the start. The script is carefully crafted so as to make this drama memorable for the audience.
In this drama, various mental illnesses, ranging from minor ones such as stress to major symptoms, are presented well and are not exaggerated. The audience seemed to be invited to get to know the various kinds of mental illnesses that exist.
The plus in this drama is that when the doctor mentions the name of the disease, he is also given a brief but clear explanation to tell what disease his patients are facing.
This makes the audience no longer need to wonder and can enjoy the drama in peace.
This drama also raises the romance genre where a psychiatrist falls in love with his own patient.
The portion of the romance scene, how when they started and went through a relationship, was very fitting and very mature. Unlike the love in the drama "True Beauty" which is full of love triangles, the drama "Fix You" actually shows that simple and mature love can be an interesting story to pick up.
In this drama, even though they are dating, they can still focus on their respective careers. When someone fell or was sad, they supported and comforted each other. Simple but meaningful.
The acting of the players here, especially the acting of the players who act as patients is very commendable.
How he deepens the patient's character, makes me also get carried away in the drama. Almost every episode I cried, and the story changed my mindset.
At first, I thought mental illness was only experienced by certain people. But in this drama, I finally understood that we can all get mental illness. We just haven't been diagnosed yet, so we don't know what disease is inside us.
Often, people who come to a psychiatrist or are admitted to a psychiatric hospital are labeled as "crazy people." In fact, not all those being treated are insane, in fact most of the patients are normal people like us.
The problem lies in the mental and heart, many people who look fine even though they have various problems in their hearts.
This drama also teaches how we can heal the mental illness that exists within ourselves. As doctor Lee Shi Joon, one of the main characters in the drama "Fix You" said:
"Each of our wounds will become a map for our lives. So instead of trying to heal the wound, how about you try to accept it? Because our wounds are like GPS, which gives us the right direction in our lives."
This drama is very suitable to watch, especially for those of you who are sad or have a lot of problems. By watching this drama, you will feel like you are counseling with a psychiatrist.
This drama is also suitable to watch with family and friends. So, for those of you who need a soothing spectacle when you are sad, you must watch this drama!

"High-Rise Invasion" Anime Review, Trapped in a World Full of Masked Assassins
High-Rise Invasion has an interesting premise and a very strong start, full of mystery and suspense.
This anime series opens with a slick but slightly tiring story. How he builds a tension in the series, but ends up bland. The audience was not given an idea why Yuri could enter that world. Fortunately, this is only in the first episode.
The second episode onwards, this series starts to get more interesting. Moreover, when Yuri met Mayuko, the writer could feel the build up of Yuri's character and how Mayuko's character changes, who previously only cared about herself to care about others.
The supporting characters also make the atmosphere in this series even more exciting. Moreover, each character has a different power. Like, Yuri who was good at shooting, Mayuko was good at using knives, and Kuon who could shoot railguns through tall buildings. Many other characters are the main attraction in this film. So that the audience can feel a strong solidarity among the existing characters.
The masked humans in this series are also unique and diverse. There are four categories of masks, ranging from angry, smiling, flat, and expressionless masks. Each has its own advantages. Each mask character from episode to episode is shown in stages and has a different level, so the audience will not be bored with the action of the masks.
Even though they are evil, masked humans still have a human side and still have human traits and skills in general. The difference is, human skills are used as a sadistic way to fight their enemies. Such as volleyball masks, swimmer masks, chef masks, and others that attack humans with their respective skills.
Not all masks in this series are evil. There are some masks that don't attack, like the flat-faced masks. Also the mask is broken, which will allow the human who wears it to remember who he is and can get the mask's power without being evil.
The background of the place shown focuses on the roof of the building and inside the building. I don't know what the cause is, none of the characters here go downstairs or onto the highway. It was as if there were no stairs in the building. They have to cross a rocking bridge to move from one building to another.
The strange world they entered was also very similar to the real world. There is rain, heat, food, and more. There is no stark difference between the worlds.
This series becomes even more interesting with the emergence of the term "God Candidate" where later, people who become god candidates and succeed in becoming gods will be able to come out and destroy the world. The antagonist character that we thought from the start is a mask, turns out to be an ordinary human who feels superior and wants to dominate everything.
The fight scene at the end is also very satisfying. The intense tension coupled with the anime effect that is not stiff makes the audience feel nervous when watching it.
However, this series is not without flaws. Many scenes that may not need to be highlighted. At the end when the fight scene is over, it feels too rushed, so it still raises various questions in the minds of the audience.
This series shows that with courage and togetherness, we can face the various challenges that exist. By strengthening each other, we will be able to develop ourselves into better people.
This anime indirectly describes the world today which is filled with ambition to achieve the highest power. Many people use humans as masks to gain power. But behind that, there are still people who fight for the truth and uphold justice.
The author feels, "High-Rise Invasion" is not suitable for those of you who don't like sadistic scenes to watch. Every murder scene that is shown is really clear and will probably make some viewers feel scared because of it.
Overall, the author himself hasn't watched anime this much fun for a long time. With a theme similar to the series "Alice in Borderland", coupled with sadistic scenes as well as various characters, and various masks, you will feel the tension in every episode.
The author highly recommends this anime series, especially for those of you who like anime with short episodes.
You can watch "High-Rise Invasion" on Netflix. The series has 12 episodes and is 25 minutes long in each episode. Suitable for those of you who are looking for an exciting spectacle in their spare time.
Will this series continue into season 2? I don't know, there has been no confirmation from Netflix itself. Looking at the ending, the author himself hopes that there will be a season 2, because there are still many things that can be explored more deeply in this anime series.

Review "Rain Behind the Window", Rain Can Also Come to Erase Memories
Maybe you are already familiar with the love triangle story. However, this film is different from films with a love triangle theme in general. When another love triangle story is about fighting over a partner, they try to pay attention to each other in order to get the lover's heart. In fact, this film offers something different.
This film proves that loyalty is a hard thing to do. The love triangle relationship here is also not exaggerated. Dika came as a healer for Gisele's wounds, and when Gisele managed to conquer her trauma, she finally realized and tried to stay away from Dika because she didn't want to ruin their relationship. This film is not the type of actor-themed film that makes the blood rise.
This film is also a little satire about people who still work in companies that don't give room for ideas from their employees. Employees must comply with all the wishes of the company and make them as corporate slaves. Dika, who used to work there, because she got motivation from Gisele and her anxiety about the company's behavior that was detrimental to small farmers, finally decided to leave the company.
The events of 98 are also raised slightly in this film. How a Gisele traumatized leaving the house because of her boyfriend who died in the 98 riots. She never left the house since that day until Dika finally healed her trauma.
The sound of the piano chiming is enough to dominate this film. In every scene, especially sad scenes, added with piano sound that has a tone according to the nuances of the film. When you are sad, the sound of the piano adds to the melancholy of this film. However, the sound of this piano is too over so that it makes the feel less natural.
As a romance drama, "Rain Behind the Window" is supported quite well by the performance of its cast line. Bio One, who plays Dika, is capable enough to bring his character to life, how he expresses the longing and regret on his face, is successful enough to attract the attention of the audience.
Yasamine Jasem who plays Alda, and Clara Bernadeth who plays Alda, all three are able to display a fairly responsible performance, even though the background of the characterization is only shown briefly through a series of dialogues.
But instead of feeling shallow, Bio One, Yasamine, and Clara still provide enough energy for their respective character ranks. Besides that, fortunately the directing of "Rain Behind the Window" was quite good and capable in translating the script into a dynamic visual presentation that flows comfortably to watch.
In this film, we can see that love is never predictable. When we are in a relationship with a partner, we can fall in love with other people at the same time. The most important thing is to take care of the heart. Honesty with your partner is an important thing to note.
The rain behind the window shows that rain can not only wash away dust on the road, but also can erase wounds and memories. This describes Gisele who is injured and has bad memories, until Dika comes as rain that heals her wounds. However, the rain can stop at any time and it can't rain forever.
That's my review of the film "Rain Behind the Window". Are you interested in watching it?
Overall, this film is very worth watching, especially for you fans of romance dramas. Romance here is not shown excessively. The sad atmosphere and the tinkling sound of the piano add to the melancholy in this film. The ranks of the players are also able to liven up the atmosphere in this film.
The author himself really likes Yasamine Jasem's acting, and the author hopes that he can become a new face for the Indonesian film industry. So that the audience is not always bored because of the same movie players.
For you fans of romance dramas, for those of you who want to learn to be loyal, you must watch this film!
Yes Day (2021)
"Yes Day", When You Are Allowed To Do Anything In One Day
This film takes a theme that is quite relatable to today's family. Where families who used to be full of adventure, go here and there, but because they have had children for a long time, they are getting busier and busier.
Like families in general, mothers are always considered as "monsters" who control all their children's activities. Maybe because the father is in the office more often, the mother in this film plays the role of the mother who takes care of everything, so that the children feel bored and think that their mother is not fun.
Finally, her mother can also prove that she can be a fun mom. After going through various challenges in "Yes Day", his mother was finally able to show that she too can be a fun friend for her child.
Each character in this film is described very well. Allison, who has 3 children, is described as a mother who is fun and exciting but still firm and very dear to her child.
We can understand why Allison often says no to her children, because she has great concern for her children.
The eldest child, Katie is described as a 16-year-old teenager who begins to experience teenage conflicts. For example, wanting to be free to play with friends, wanting to be free from their parents, thinking that they could be fine without the help of their parents.
The second child, Evan is described as a child aged around 9-10 years who likes science. He has a great curiosity so he likes to make experiments, but because his mother often does not allow it, he becomes a child who likes to argue.
The third child, Ellie is described as a child aged 4-5 years who is innocent and doesn't really understand what is allowed and what is not. He just followed what his brother did. Naturally, he was still small and did not know anything.
The character of the father in this film is also clearly described. Viewers are told the reason why his father often says yes to his son and is always a fun dad.
It turns out that in the office he is someone who is often considered unattractive and often interferes with the enjoyment of his employees due to work factors. Despite the complexity of the work he does, when he comes home, he can release his burdens by playing with his children.
The ranks of the cast, such as Jenna Ortega, Jennifer Garner, Edgar Ramires, and others, successfully brought the characters of each character well.
The writer can see their natural acting, so the writer feels that they are like real family. There is no acting that feels stiff. The feel given by each character is also conveyed well and is able to build a warm atmosphere in the film.
Behind the excitement and warmth presented in this film. The author himself feels that there are some things that don't make sense in this film, such as visiting various places in one day, then going out of town using an ambulance just to do "Yes Day", and the people in this film seem to participate. Celebrate their family's "Yes Day".
But indeed, it is also what makes the characters in this film develop. How did the children finally realize the reason why their parents often did not allow them.
The development of the father's character in this film is also very pronounced, where in the end his father can become a firm father in several ways. Because not always being assertive is bad.
The film's ending was closed warmly and succeeded in causing a sense of emotion in the eyes of the audience. How can mothers finally show their love for their children? The presence of singer H. E. R also enlivened the atmosphere in this film.
This film proves that sometimes, we need a day where we spend time with family, so that there are no rifts and misunderstandings.
Children actually only need friends, and when parents can be fun friends for children, then the family will surely be more harmonious and fun.
Every parent has their own way of educating. But behind any way of educating them, the goal remains the same. They just want to be good parents who can educate and protect their children from the dangers that are outside. The family is the protector as well as the main foundation in building a child's character.
That's my review of the film "Yes Day". Do you also want to try doing "Yes Day" with your family?
Overall, this film is highly recommended to be watched with family. With its unique theme and supporting cast, this film is one of the must-watch family films in 2021.
You can watch this film on Netflix. With a duration of 1 hour 26 minutes, it seems this film will be suitable if watched at night with the family.
For those of you who want to watch a light, fun, and entertaining film, you must watch this film!
Saehae jeonya (2021)
Korean film "New Year Blues", 4 different love stories that are related to each other
New Year is synonymous with festive and fun celebrations. But what happens if 5 days before the new year your girlfriend suddenly decides, takes her wedding money, or suddenly gets divorced? Surely this will make the end of your year not as pleasant as you think.
What's interesting in this film is how each character can solve their problems before the new year arrives. The conflicts that exist with 4 different stories make the atmosphere in this film diverse, ranging from happy, sad, baper, and others.
Even so, this film is still interesting to watch even though it's not in the new year. Because the new year is only a decoration in this film. This film focuses on the love conflict of each partner who has different characteristics and problems.
Ji-Ho (Kim Kang-Woo) used to work as a detective in a serious crime squad. He was demoted and worked in the general civil service office. Hyo-Young (Yoo In-Na) is a rehabilitation coach. She is in the process of divorcing. He went to the civil service office to request a restraining order. Ji-Ho happens to keep Hyo-Young away from her husband.
Because Ji-Ho looks after Hyo-Young, he starts to feel comfortable and comforted. Because he has been busy blaming himself for the divorce he did a few years ago. Meanwhile, Hyo-Young herself seems to be getting comfortable with Ji-Ho.
Jae-Hun (Yoo Yeon-Seok) suffers from exhaustion. He went to Argentina and now works as a wine delivery man. He happens to meet Jin-A (Lee Yeon-Hee). He was dumped by his girlfriend for no reason. His ex's travel savings were taken in half and he decided to calm himself down by going all the way to Argentina.
Jae-Hun becomes Jin-A's guide in Argentina. Unknowingly, they managed to heal their respective wounds.
Yong-Chan (Lee Dong-Hwi) runs a travel agency. He is about to marry Yaolin (Chen Duling), a Chinese, but he has a big problem. He was conned for money for his wedding. Yaolin was assigned to the Korea branch, prior to their marriage. Yong-Chan's older sister, Yong-Mi (Yum Hye-Ran) is uncomfortable with Yong-Chan marrying a foreigner.
Rae-Hwan (Yoo Teo) is a national team player in the Paralympics. He always feels sorry for his girlfriend O-Wol (Sooyoung), who faces people's prejudices because of him. Whereas Rae Hwan has a broken leg on the right and uses a prosthetic leg, it makes him feel small in front of O-Wol.
From the 4 different love stories, they are still related to each other. Hyo-Young is Rae-Hwan's virgin and O-Wol is a friend of her brother Yong-Chan. Yong-Chan himself reports his fraud case to Ji-Ho. So, the audience will not be confused because the characters will be interrelated.
The interesting thing in this film is also when the characters are in different places. We can see how Ji-Ho works at the police station, while Rae-Hwan is one of the skaters, Yong-Chan who works at a travel agency, and Yaolin who is from China. With their different work backgrounds, this film becomes more complex and more interesting to follow.
No less interesting was when Jin-A went to Argentina. The author himself doesn't know if he really went to Argentina or just CGI effects like Vincenzo. However, the author himself feels that he really shot in Argentina so that the atmosphere and culture of Argentina is very close in this film
The thing that should be appreciated in this film is when the director and screenwriter were able to make 4 love stories in this film in detail and not in a hurry. There are many romance films out there that only carry one story but seem rushed. The audience can understand the core problem of this film clearly, and the conflict resolution at the end will make the audience feel the emotion and warmth that is presented in the film.
There is no doubt about the cinematography that is displayed. The beauty of Korea and the country of Argentina can be described well and tastes sweet. The acting of the players such as Yoo Tae O, Lee Yon-Hee, Yoo Yeon-sok, and others were able to bring the characters to life well and make the atmosphere in this film feel emotional.
Korean songs and music featured in this film also add to the warmth and excitement of this film.
Indirectly, this film teaches many things about acceptance, love, courage, career, and others. Unlike most films that include poetic words, this film actually conveys its
message implicitly and does not seem patronizing.
That every conflict that occurs in a romantic relationship must be faced wisely. That sometimes, conflicts make our relationship even closer. When there is a problem, try to spend time with yourself and go somewhere, it can calm you down and make you more relieved.
Overall, with a duration of 114 minutes, this film is able to convey its message well. The acting of the players who are immersed in the role, plus soothing songs and cinemathography, is able to make the audience feel at home to sit for 2 hours while watching the film.
This film is suitable to be watched with a partner or loved ones. If you want to try watching a different love story, you must watch this film!
Nagwonui bam (2020)
"Night In Paradise", Revenge Against the Sadistic, Brutal and Emotional Mafia
This film opens with a fairly slow plot, it takes 18 minutes for the introduction of the story and then enters the opening title. Even so, this film opens quite well, it's just that it leaves the audience with questions. "What exactly is Tae-Gu's job?" That's the question that will stick in the minds of the audience.
How the chemistry between Tae-Gu and his brother and nephew is only shown briefly, after leaving the hospital. Then suddenly an accident occurs and Tae-Gu seeks revenge.
Unfortunately, according to the author, it would be better if a flashback was shown of his past with his brother, so that the audience could feel deeper emotions.
Although the first half is quite slow, this film manages to open the film quite well. The introduction of Tae-Gu's character, his work, and his motive for revenge can be conveyed well.
Entering the middle of the film, when Tae-Gu meets Jae-Yeon and Kuto, many new plot twists appear. Some viewers may have guessed that from the start, as well as the writer.
Jae-Yeon's unique character also adds to the excitement and stimulates the emotions of the audience in this film. He who has a deadly disease and can die at any time makes him feel free to do anything before death picks him up.
So that his "observantly stupid" character, when combined with Tae-Gu's character who tends to be stiff and quiet, makes the chemistry of the two feel unique.
The boss character of each mafia gangster is also interesting. The bosses here seem to describe the various characteristics of the mafia. There are those who are cruel but keep their promises, there are those who look good even though they are treacherous and want to survive themselves, there are also those who don't want to be bothered and only support from behind.
In terms of cinematography, the color grading and lighting in this film tend to be dark. Like other dark themed films. Even though it is dark, the lighting in this film and the color grading feels right and makes the audience comfortable to sit for a long time while watching the film.
The cinematography that is pleasing to the eye, coupled with the sound effects of bullets and fight scenes that make the audience shudder in horror, is very capable of reviving the dark atmosphere in this film.
The author really likes it when this film does not rely on the soundtrack, does not rely on the sound of music like other crime films. This makes the atmosphere of the fight in this film feel very intense and natural.
The thing that makes the writer really like this film is when the fight scenes are shown clearly and not much censored, when the scene is surrounded or ganged up, Tae-Gu is shown bleeding and doesn't seem like he's acting.
Really, when watching this film, the audience will feel the battle is like real. Sadistic totality, that's the point.
The acting of the players such as Um Tae-Goo, Jeon Yeo Bin, Cha Seung Won, Park Ho San, and others successfully brought the characters of each of the characters they played. Their acting is able to bring the characters to life and doesn't look like they're acting.
Jeon Yeo Bin's acting who also plays Hong Cha Young in the Korean drama Vincenzo is also interesting to watch. While in "Vincenzo" his character tends to be sloppy and cheerful, in this film he is able to change his character into a woman who is filled with sadness and revenge.
If the audience of "Vincenzo" watched this film, they would no longer see Jeon Yeo Bin as Hong Cha Young, but Jae Yon who was filled with anger.
For the ending, the author himself was very satisfied. Even though it's predictable and the plot twist isn't too "wow", all the characters have a fair ending.
The ending they get is in accordance with the consequences of their actions. You could say the ending is quite realistic and doesn't seem to force it to be heroic.
This film is not a typical festival film, more inclined to thriller and crime genre films.
That's my review of the movie "Night In Paradise". Are you ready to watch it this weekend?
Overall, this film is highly recommended to watch, especially for fans of the crime genre. With a duration of 2 hours, the storyline is slow at the beginning but the intensity is getting higher at the end, coupled with the fight scenes that feel real and without a music soundtrack, make the atmosphere in this film so tense.
For those of you who want to watch a movie on the weekend, it's a must to watch this film! Especially if watched in a dark room, the cinematography shown will really spoil the eyes of the audience.
