PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie (2023)
It isn't my review, it's my kid's
Of course it's be silly for a grownup to write a review on this movie, so I'll write what my kid thinks of it.
But before that, I'll need to write a background.
My kid is 4.5. He's brilliant and speaks fluently 3 languages. His fun is going to the children library, and kids science shows are his favorite. He has never used a mobile or tablet till couple of months ago when homework's started to flow on the school platform. He has never gone to cinema, so this is his first experience with his favorite "super stars".
With all the hype and excitement, we booked the ticket on the first day of the movie. It's a kids cinema. He loved it while in there, and even got excited in some scenes.
After the hype is gone, on the way home, I asked him about the movie, and what was his feeling. I asked him after a day (yesterday) and this is his answer combined:
"Daddy, you know, this is not a kids movie. I got scared a little bit when the meteors hit the tower."
"You know daddy, that woman is so evil. I hate her too much. I was almost going to punch her through the screen".
"Daddy, you know for a bit I thought the meteors were going to hit us. The cinema feels like real"
"The sound was too loud. I don't like loud"
And that's the summary of his review.
My conclusion, it is fun, but it's more violent compared to the other Paw Patrol franchise. Of course with extra powers to pups, an extra powered evil character was needed, but why the extra power in the first place? They could have grown up a bit (maybe).
Anyways, we had fun evening, and I am happy that I shared my son's first movie experience.
Ghosted (2023)
I could give it a 4 or 5, but....
Imagine Captain America is a goofy boy living with his parents, The Falcon is an outlaw, but the low end kind, the Winter Soldier is even a lower assassin, and (surprise surprise) Ryan Ronalds showing up as an extreme looser boy for less than a minute. Did you imagine that? The next question in your head should be: so who is the super hero? It is "Marlyn Monroe", the beautiful and amazing Ana de Armas. She is the hero and the bad girl there, who's protecting the goofy Captain America. Illogical.
That's the big reason behind me giving only 1 star. I'd give them a big zero if I could. The movie makers (Apple) literally selected the wrong characters in the wrong roles. I'd have accepted Scarlet in that role, but not the sweet Ana. (why not? They casted the falcon, the winter soldier and Deadpool. They should have completed the collection).
There are many occasions where you loose the connection in the movie. One of them, Chris plays the role of a goofy farmer, who has never left the US, and has no adventurous tendencies nor experience. Suddenly, his inner Captain America emerges, and now he can jump out of a private jet into the ocean (with parachute obviously), in one hand a heavy biological briefcase, and the other hand holding Ana who is tied to his body. He doesn't only land safely on a tiny island, but he sets a survivor camp in, wait for it, Socotra. A 1,500 SQMiles island in the Arab Sea between Africa and Arabia, yet in this genius movie, it is so tiny and inhabited!
(A bonus observation: they were suppose to fly from Pakistan to the US. A route towards the north, and doesn't even fly close to the island the landed on!?)
That and this happens, and they CIA rescued them and took them to the US. A flight of at least 16 hours, yet they appeared in CIA HQ still in the same clothes and dirty!?
The illogical and disconnecting scenes keep flowing in, till I said that's it, it's definitely a 1 star movie. The great Ryan shows up for less than a minute, with one eye, speaking none sense in the middle of gang fire exchange!??!!!
The movie is really bad. I enjoyed watching the pretty Ana, but unfortunately I couldn't digest the goofy Captain America, the low end assassins, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
BTW, guess the name of the grandfather of The Falcon in this movie? Yes, you guessed right. It is Sam, his name the the MCU. Unrelated information indeed, but the director thought it's a good idea for this great actor to say "Sam" so to remind us that they spilled the money on the "Avengers" band!!
Bad movie. Really bad movie. I truly felt sorry for Adrian to play such a bad role. He is a magnificent actor.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)
The kid is growing up, while Shazam...
....while Shazam is suffering from Benjamin Buttons syndrome.
WTH with you guys!?? Shouldn't Shazam character grow up with the kid growing up?!! He's almost 18, but Shazam is 7 with his moves, conversation, brain, talk, acts. We couldn't relate both as we did in the first movie.
But the director chose to show us that he grew up by Shazam trying to hookup with Wonder Woman!! He's almost 18, didn't you notice?!! Of course we didn't. Shazam acts like my 4 years old son.
The story isn't flowing smooth. The bigger sister turned against her sister in a blink!?
The third sister looks too young next to her sisters?!!
It is a very confusing movie, making no sense in story.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
I was really surprised
This movie is the new low of Marvel.
I cannot always remember the names of the actors, but you'll get me.
Firstly, I truly want to know why have they changed the daughter character. I will never forget the meeting of ant-man and his daughter after he gets out of the quantum realm in Endgame, neither the view of them with his girlfriend and his daughter at the end celebrating the victory. How do expect me to connect to this new actress?! Not to mention she was over acting and truly bad (sorry for that lady, but you were so bad).
The continuous references to avengers and the other heroes shows truly how the makers know for sure that they screwed up in not letting the fans connect to this MCU movie. So it was their way to connect the movie. Big fail.
Kang demolished worlds, but couldn't beat ant-man alone?!!! Interesting plot.
What's the point of the hugs between enlarged ant-man and enlarged daughter in the middle of the battle?! To connect us to the character they screwed it up by changing the actress?! Had no place.
CGI is one of the best in the MCU, but unfortunately there are so many failures in the story that even such marvelous CGI couldn't cover.
Since Endgame, only Spider-Man movies were the consistent ones. Wrap it up Marvel, or establish a new universe.
Bolshoe puteshestvie. Spetsialnaya dostavka (2022)
Trying my best to be fair in my review
As an animation movie, it is a bad graphics movie.
Scenario wise, it's horrible.
The effects and musics are so dimmed.
Overall it feels like a project of media school student.
Now to the story.
Why the makers of the movie thought that the political landscape of the United States of America would apply on a movie that supposed to be distributed internationally, let alone it is made for children?
Why the name is the united state of woods?
Why the political corruption and under table deals are shown in a kids movie?
Why there are horrible language like "loser" or "kill" in a movie for kids??!
Trust me, if I keep going I won't stop. Very horrible movie. Thankfully I am watching it for free, but never 2nd time.
Glass Onion (2022)
My hopes were high...but :(
I expected an evolutionarily development of the main character who Daniel plays, unfortunately we got a "smoother" and confusing idiot version of this character.
Why did the writers saw it appropriate to show him so confusing and "smooth" (and has a boyfriend/partner)?! Because he was locked during the pandemic? So you are saying that he was sane, but the lockdown made him insane that he has a boyfriend now?!
Note to the writers: psssst...electricity doesn't work like that. If there's a fuel of any kind that generates electricity, there will be plant, so the fuel doesn't run all around the place. My kid knows that. Respect our intelligence.
Finally, you ruined a character that has too much potential By portraying it weak and confusing. You focused on portraying the character inline with a certain agenda that you forgot to make a good movie.
Thankfully I watched it at friends home, and didn't pay a dime to watch this horrendous movie.
I hope that you will turn things around with the third installment of this movie, and not to include agendas that are irrelevant to 99% of the rest of the world.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Watch it only if you have nothing more to watch
I am a very disappointed MCU fan.
In the past, marvel used to make movies, and at the end, they connect it for a sequel, avengers, or another new movie. In this movie, so many scenes are doors for another movie or show, and they made it so obvious. They focused so much on this purpose that they missed the opportunity of making a great movie with the presence of great actors like Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. One completely was not given the chance to reflect the true Gorr, and the other one was a complete joke.
It seems like marvel loves to keep loose ends (now, beginnings, middles ends) for new movies and shows. It's nice and profitable from their point of view, but it's boring and disconnects the fans and audiences that they gained during the 10 years of infinity war saga. Since end game, they came with nothing good (except Spidey), and this movie is no exception.
The storyline wasn't well connected. You'll get lost in the middle easily.
Except Thor and Jane, which are the core of the story, and their relation is strongly connected with the movie storyline, bringing up the private lives of other characters is completely irrelevant. Why would I need to know that Korg the tough warrior settled with a tougher "man" somewhere?!!
Moonfall (2022)
It hurts if you have the minimum human iQ
Firstly, watch it on TV not in theater, just to truly see the film. It is then when you will realize that it seriously hurts your brain.
The story of godless and the existence of ancestors/creators is so damn consumed, and was presented in so many movies and series before.
The AI taking control.... the same.
The 1998 "Armageddon" style saving...the same.
If you are going to present ideas that were presented before, you've got to have an amazing plot, and this movie doesn't have one. Predictable in every second of it.
CGI is great, but in the absence of a good storyline, it's worthless.
Halle Berry lost it, but Patrick played good role.
Advice; watch it when you have absolutely and definitely nothing to watch at all.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Too mythical for an MCU Movie
I rated it 6, just for the great acting of the father and main character, otherwise, the movie's story is so predictable, already consumed in the anime and previous asian-myth movies.
Wasn't for the show up of Wong (and one other minor clue) no one could relate this movie to MCU.
Don't get me wrong, it's a good movie, but not MCU-good. Unless....the story is still to be connected, making this movie only a bridge to a greater story.
