Definitely avoid trailers! Pleasently good horror/thiller

I'll add the spoilers at the end.

I've read someone else suggest you should avoid trailers before seeing this and I cannot agree more! Thankfully, I saw the trailer a while back before I watched the movie. So as I went in tonight to watch it I forgot all on what the movie was even about, and what a treat that was as things were revieled as the movie went on.

I thought the cast was pretty good, with a good mix of personalities. The big strong guy had some surprisingly funny moments, making the wife and I laugh out loud at different moments which is saying something for us. In saying that, the movie had plenty of serious moments too, with plenty of action and gore.

Overall we loved this movie, and will watch again with friends no doubt.

Here's the spoiler comments.. There were a few plot holes like one vampire returned to normal after killing the vampire that turned them, but this didn't happen for another guy in the exact same scenario.

Checking her pulse after giving the tranquilizer would be pointless. She's a vampire, therefore undead so wouldn't have a pulse right?

And finally her father showing up right at the very end. Seemed a bit late, the movie was done. Abigail said that Joey was there for her when she needed someone. Her father said he was there when she needed her... Maybe just 20 minutes earlier he could have shown up when she was in great danger, and not now as her only ally was about to depart??

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)

Feels like we're just ticking boxes now..

At no point did these characters pull me into this movie, there was just zero connection. I have no idea who any of them are! How is that possible for such a big franchise such as Transformers? Is this all they could find when casting? Mirage was the only entertaining character and carried the movie.

Also is it just me or did it feel like it took a long time for the movie to take off? I understand we need to develop characters but at times in the first part of the movie I forgot I was even watching a Transformers movie.

I felt like the CGI was a little overdone too. I feel like some parts the bots looked almost cartoonish compared to the grungy look from previous movies.

Willow Creek (2013)

A hidden gem!

We were digging around looking for a good thriller/horror and stumbled upon this movie. Decided to give it a go and we're glad we did! It's slow going with a bit of humour throughout the first half. But it ramped up toward the end, one scene built up a lot of suspense for us, it's been a while since we've enjoyed a thriller like that.

Was good to watch if your into these reenactment movies. Acting felt a little strange at first but got better as it went on. Part 2 continued to get even better!

This was my favourite of the 2 part series. Very interesting watching things unfold, seeing how he rose to power against the odds. I wish the was a part 3 to show him handling the war but I get this is only "The Rise of Evil".
