Basic Instinct (1992)
It's So-So
After 30 plus years I finally sat down and watched this movie from beginning to end.
I was an older teenager when this movie first was shown on the big screen.
Well anyway I was feeling a little nostalgic a couple of nights back, so I queued this movie for a watch.
As I mentioned before I never actually watched the entire movie only in bits and pieces.
So I was anticipating a thrilling crime drama with a flair for sexiness too.
I was disappointed in both the lack of drama and the disjointed love affair between Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone. They had no chemistry and the whole plot of the movie was bland. The love making scenes were okay but they seemed awkward and the iconic leg-crossing scene was cool but cringey at the same time.
I thought the whole movie was unbelievable.
Douglas' character Det. Nick Curran was a boozing, bully and somehow he's the good guy here? Sharon Stone's character leaves behind mountains of DNA evidence but she's allowed to run free. There is an obvious conflict of interest between former lovers Detective Curran and the police psychology shrink but let's all take her unbiased words, when Det. Curran is suspected of killing an Internal Affairs officer.
Sigh...then somehow he again gets away with basically running a suspect off the road to her death but again, let's look elsewhere.
Sigh....
There's a forceful sex scene involving Curran and the shrink but he's a policeman so nothing to see here.
All in all, it's an okay flick that's stood the test of time to iconic statue. But if you're looking for a real crime drama, find "Chinatown" with Jack Nicholson or Denzel Washington's "Devil in a Blue Dress".
Red Flags (2022)
Probably the worst movie ever made
I wasted 76 minutes watching this free movie on Freevee. It's a Saturday evening I felt like watching a movie so I chose this one. Big mistake.
It was poorly acted, poorly written, poorly directed, and the sound and lighting were just miserable.
The plot of the movie was just plain dumb.
So you're going to tell me a woman is going to marry some strange man in two weeks based off his driving a G-Wagon.
Then the newlywed husband suddenly goes on a killing spree and there's absolutely no suspicion on the wife's part? Even though all of the evidence points in his direction.
The police actors were the most frustrating thing about the whole movie. Unbelievably the lead detective spends more time eating reheated take-out and talking about his home life instead of solving the murders.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Spiraling Down (2011)
Really
Really? The dad is upset that ONE out of 200 johns get acquitted? I usually like SVU but this episode was too meandering and full of holes.
For the life of me I can't understand why the dad is so upset at the end? Also the 14year old is suddenly a choir girl clutching her pearls. Unbelievable.
Gunsmoke: There Was Never a Horse (1959)
Excellent episode
I loved this episode. Probably the best episode for the 30 minute time slots.
