The Limited (2000)
Interesting Sci Fi Flick
A young Dad runs to the market for milk but he looks down for a moment to avoid the eyes of a homeless man. This leads to a head on collision. Suddenly, he's in a train station which feels very twilight zone, people are running by him and no one is willing to answer the most basic questions. He's told he isn't dead, but "his life is over" and to take "The Limited" train. His seat is located across from a rather disgusting, fat lady who won't stop talking. She convinces him that he is dead, and somehow he turns that into the old idea of a tunnel and a light and that he can convince the person at the end of this train ride to send him back. What happens next involves a twist and leaves you thinking about your own life.
Destiny (2002)
Heartwrenching view of abortion
This is something you never see on TV or on film, for that matter. "Destiny" tells the story of Jen (Jerri Manthey of Survivor fame) who as a photojournalist has a fling with a good looking cop she meets on assignment and finds herself pregnant even though they used a condom. She waits several weeks before telling anyone and when she does, her best friend seems to suggest she really doesn't have a choice but to terminate her pregnancy as a young, struggling career woman. The cop seems sad that this has happened, so he offers to pay for it, without even the idea she may decide to keep it. She tries to get counseling at a clinic but instead gets the impression she might as well, neither she nor the fetus will feel pain and it'll be over soon. So she does it, but isn't the same. She's hearing music, and her best friend thinks she's lost it because she's taking photos of kids all the times. No one else hears the music she hears so one night she decides to follow it...I won't ruin the ending but it is haunting.
