Rush (1974)
A Distant memory from my childhood...
I'm here trying to find the wonderful theme music, written by Geoff Harvey, which, along with the entire series, seems to have disappeared completely from the internet!
I was ten years old when the series was released and I watched it very late on Sunday nights in the HTV Region of South Wales (UK) and enjoyed the show but loved the music! Alas, I'm still searching for clips and longer versions of what little of the thee tune is available online.
Strange how a popular show can simply...disappear....
Holby City (1999)
some good moments and a request for a name....
Holby has become one of those shows that perhaps overstayed its welcome and as I haven't been in the UK for a decade or more, this is not really a review and more of a request to the fans: Going back to the early days, there was an episode concerning a patient, a large Welshman, who had fallen into a grave! Now, this might possibly have been Casualty but my brain tells me it's Holby, but by the by, the point is, the actor who played the patient gave an awesome performance...and I can't remember his name or indeed, if he went on to have the career he deserved! I can't even remember the name f the episode, sadly...anyone out there on the interweb remember the talented actor?
Two more honourable mentions and perhaps, I think, Holby at its best: David Soul gave outstanding performances, especially in the tense, office conflict scenes and finally, can anyone tell me the name of the well-known british actor from the 50s and 60s, who gave an incredible speech during the period of Remembrance, November 11th. He played a Normandy Veteran I believe and if I remember correctly, the actor himself was a veteran of the same campaign. The names are driving me nuts but as I'm in late middle-age and its been over 30 years,,,guess no real surprise!
Ultimate Force: Violent Solutions (2006)
The worst episode ever made..?
Nearly twenty years on and I haven't forgot this episode: for the wrong reasons! I seriously don't know what happened with this episode; the entire thing, from start to finish, feels like its composed of out-takes from the rest of the series. Production values are the lowest I have EVER seen for a 'Prime Time' drama series (made Dr Who circa 1972 look classy) and the entire thing looks like it cost about $2500 tops. The story is laughable, the characters are paper thin cardboard cut-outs, the dialogue is actually painful and the entire episode is like something a drunk wrote on his way to the studio. Ruined the entire show for me, this one episode!
