Bob's Burgers: The Amazing Rudy (2023)
A sweet episode
This was actually a fairly refreshing episode, and I think one that showed some flex and growth from the writers. The episode follows Rudy as the main character, and shows how he deals with some heavy family stuff, and how a another (familiar) family and friends help him when he needs it, and stepped up again when they saw he bad was hurting. It's a cartoon, sure, but it felt genuine and sweet. Gene of course was present and focused on a lasagna of all things, which made for lots of laughes. But as a whole, it felt heavier, and Stevie Wonders Why Don't You Lead Me To Love was such a perfect song to end the episode with.
Once in a Blue Moon (1995)
Stuck with me through the years
I remembered seeing this as a kid back in the 90's, and it just stuck with me. In retrospect, it seems like a perfect blend of Bridge to Teribithia level friendship and adventure that you'd imagine at that age, and after having taken another look at it recently, I realized that's exactly what it was... a silly adventure and story told with low and high points. I remember writing stories just like it at 8 or 9.
I suspect this would hold up for any youngster at that age of they needed an hour and a half to burn on a trip or rainy afternoon.
As for me, I'm off to the moon.
