My Best Friend's Girl (2008)
not for the faint of heart
I haven't seen this movie since it was released and I have no idea if it has aged well or badly. But here's what I remember.
My hubs picked it out and about 8 minutes into the movie I was so offended I could not continue. I was furious. We stopped watching it. Later my hubs watched it alone and suggested it got funnier and to give it another try. So we did. And it ended up being pretty damn funny. The end of the movie nearly went too far again- definitely some extremely uncomfortable inappropriate behavior. But, if you think Anthony Jeselnik is funny, or even Ali Wong, you'll probably be able to have a little giggle with this one.

I love this movie
This movie is filmed so beautifully. Watching it feels like remembering a cherished long past memory of my own childhood....though I grew up in the mountains of Montana and have never laid eyes on the Mongolian Steppe.
The storyline is like a haiku on being human. They are hurrying to the modern life, but we (the viewers) know how that ends.( Zoom meetings, traffic jams, pollution.). I truly wish I could stand on that grassland and feel the wind rush by chapping my cheeks red. The scenery absolutely haunts me.
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
Love it or hate it? ....Both
I feel like this episode is almost a test- something like a pregnancy test (preggo or not!- no in between)- but it's checking your affinity to weirdness. Not cool- fun weird. But frustrating, sad, weird.
Sarangeui bulsachak (2019)
Love it
I think CLOY will convert a lot of people to being fans of asian dramas. The pacing of many asian dramas is often so slow (with all the flash backs and 60 second stares when they "almost kiss") and it can feel a bit wasteful of your time to take 20 hours, or even 50 to complete.
But CLOY is engaging the whole time. It's worth the time. (Full disclosure, I'd probably happily watch 20 hours of Hyun Bin painting walls). Son Yejin is always amazing - and she is fantastic as usual here. Hyun Bin is great too, but his range isn't stretched much (watch him in Secret Garden) he is only being perfect.
Some of the best parts of CLOY for me are the scenes with the North Korean characters. I absolutely love the soldiers as well as the ladies from Capt Ri's village. Kim Sun-young is hilarious. The writing is great.
I think why I like Korean dramas so much is how they are full of just humans caring well for each other. And the banter. Koreans are masters of beautiful conversation. They leave you feeling full and happy.
Watch it! You'll love it.
