Yes I know the movie makers butchered Koontz book. Thats not the actors fault. They just do what they are told. If the makers had given them more to work with, I'm sure they would have nailed it. This script doesn't explain much lol. We deserve a remake that explains in detail wtf is going on. Like how they can heal self heal, how pain connects them, how they came back connected, How TF did Vassago come back in general?! Was Jeremys body in a coma then awakened when Hatch was brought back? How does the Resurrection machine work? How dark was Jeremy in his childhood? How & When did the serial killer attach himself to Jeremy? How did Jeremy come to worship Satan? WTF happened? If you'd like know, go listen to Hideaway on Youtube audiobooks.e Or read the book. I listened to the audiobook & WOW! Koontz brought his A game with this book. So, while I love older movies. I hate that the box office determines if a movie is good or not. There are many reasons a movie doesnt sale. Economy, Bigger Movies selling on the same time, Bad movie, ETC. Sure the ending blowed but I'm going to give a young Jeremy Sisto credit. He would make a good joker with that character. We have to remember that the directors & producers control a lot of the acting & expressions of the actors. Jeremy couldve went further had they let him. He def has the look & the voice. Older movies hold a special place because they are like time capsules. The beginning was pretty cool for that time. I just wish we could get a remake 2021 but with Rob Zombie & Quentin T handling the script. They would really expose Koontz books details. Any ways, If you like oldies but goodies, you'll love this one. If you hate older special effects. You will hate it. ALicia Silverston is adorbs. She always played a cute helpless teen. But if they had given her more to work with, she would have nailed it. 1995 was a time where all the teenage blondes were in need of saving. So glad to see that has changed now days. But yall know we ate that Serial killer after a teen girl stuff up. Look at Twilight, Fear etc. Jeff was allowed to bloom in this movie. He has a great sense of acting. Bt they held him back here. I still enjoy watching this on Hulu.
