Willard (2003)
A Masterpiece Played to Perfection by the Magnificent Crispin Hellion Glover
28 March 2003
I have never seen the 1971 version of Willard, not have I read the book, The Ratman Notebooks, but I can't imagine any of them being any better than this version, starring the amazing-as-always Crispin Glover! This movie is perfect in every aspect.

It is about a lonely, sad, and extremely shy man who is teased and put down by most of the people that surround him including his mother, whom he takes care of and lives with, and his cruel, money grubbing boss. The character of Willard is so well performed by Crispin Glover that you feel as if Willard is a real person, standing right in front of you. His performance really brings Willards pain and longing right in your face with his twitches, the way he responds to anger, how he wants to say something but doesn't, and even by the way he walks.

So anyway, his mother hears rats in the basement and makes Willard investigate to get rid of them. He buys a mouse trap and he finds that a little white rat is stuck to it, fighting for it's little life. Willard is about to kill it, but he just doesn't have the heart. So he cleans it up and names it Socrates. He puts Socrates back with his family, but he goes back to Willard and they form a friendship that Willard had never had....ever.

Willard then realizes that the rats are pretty intelligent animals and that he can control them. He trains them and they all follow him faithfully, except for Ben, a big rat. He uses them to get revenge on the people who had made his "wasted" life a living Hell.

The ending is interesting and leaves an opening for a sequel, which Crispin Glover said that he'd love to do.....so let's keep hoping!

To Die For (1988)
A Wonderful Vampire movie.
8 July 2002
This is a very underrated vampire movie. I think it was one of the best vampire films ever made. It has a great cast (Brendan Hughes is just so sexy), good acting, a traditional, but different story, it has everything. The only thing I did not like about this movie was that SOME, not all, of the death scenes are cheesy. This movie was very romantic and when you watch it, you feel hypnotized. I strongly recommend this movie to everyone!

One of the best of the Nightmare series!
8 July 2002
I don't understand why some people don't like this movie. It is great. It has interesting characters (Mark is just plain awesome, if only I could find a guy like that!), good acting, great state-of-the-art special effects, and a different twist to the nightmare series. I must have seen this movie hundreds of times, and I just don't tire of it. If you are a true Nightmare fan you will adore this movie!

Great Duran Duran footage!
5 July 2002
When I first saw this "movie", I was expecting something more on the lines of Barbarella with some of my favourite band thrown in. That is not what I got. The whole movie is like a concert music video. It has great live footage in it and Duran Duran look fab! Esp. John Taylor's look when he sees that girl in the hall. But I'm more of an Andy girl.... If you love Duran Duran and you want to see them in concert, buy or rent this movie because it is awesome. Also check out their documentary Sing Blue Silver, it is to die for.

The Exorcist (1973)
A Spectacular "Horror" Film
5 July 2002
People who say this movie isn't scary and laugh at it are ignorant of the truth. What a lot of people do not know, is that this movie is based on a true story. It REALLY happened. Possession is a REAL thing and does happen to people. Real exorcisms are far worse and terrifying than this movie portrayed them. The reason why nobody came out with the truth is because it is said that Mr. Blatty obtained his information in an illegal manner. I know this because I did a project on it. I researched and found all this information on the real case. The real exorcism happened to a boy, not a girl, because he was contacting his "Aunt Tillie" from a Quija board. There were no stairs, and no one was really flung out the window, that was all made up. But the priests involved in the real case were abused terribly. One priest was stabbed very deeply in his arm and knocked around. They said that the possessed boy need ten strong men to hold him down. So, when you watch this movie, approach it seriously. So what if some of the special effects look a tad cheesy, remember, it was revolutionary technology when it first came out.
