The Next Thing You Eat (2021)
In your face profanity
I agree with the other review about his language. This does seem like an interesting topic but I couldn't get past the opening credits with all the swear words. Certainly not a family friendly show. Really? A food show that's TV-MA?
Aladdin (2019)
Very good and enjoyable
First off, Will Smith is Not Robin Williams! He did very well not to try to be be. If you watch this movie without trying to compare it to the animated classic, you will enjoy it. Some of the songs are the same and well done, many scenes are the same as well. There is enough original material to catch the audience by surprise as well.
Unlike the Lion King, this was a good live action recreation of the animated movie. It does, however, fall short of being a new "classic".
Bailout: The Age of Greed (2013)
Not just another action flick
From a character in Legends of Tomorrow to a serious dramatic actor! This didn't have a typical short brief background story like most movies of this type, we get to watch him slowly fall into desperation. This is a seriously good movie.
Moms' Night Out (2014)
Good Family Movie
Positive values and wholesome family movie that is actually funny. This was a good movie to watch with the entire family and no one goes away embarrassed that they saw this with their mother or Grandmother!
SPOILER - The only downside is that the mother does not seem to have any control or discipline over her children. I think this movie would have worked just as well with an over worked Mom with well-behaved children. They did not have to be out of control for the movie to work.
Trace Adkins was a gem in this movie and the father, played by Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) plays his role so very well. There is not a hint of scandal or inappropriate behavior in this film and it is still very funny.
Star Trek (2009)
Fresh Start, True to the Past with a Chance for New Stories
As a Long Time Trekker (Trekkie) since the 60's and original, I wondered if this could be done without Shatner, Nimoy, and Kelley. Well, it can and it was! This Trek is true to the cannon and still fresh. In the words of Scotty: "I like this ship, it's exciting!"
The only hangup I had was the Engine room just didn't look right. I think they could have, and should have, kept the previous incarnation standard Warp Core. But, in the scheme of things, this is so minor that it really is unimportant. The special effects were incredible, big ships in a dogfight were exciting to watch, not lumbering and slow as in previous Science Fiction shows, including Star Trek and Star Wars.
I am on my way to see it for the third time!
