The Karate Kid (2010)
very good remake
The remake was a pleanst surprise for one the acting was very good. the movie had an unhurried pace the scenery was absoulutley breathtaking and made me want to someday visit China China seems like. now to the movie itself first off jaden smith is hands down a great actor and the supporting cast of characters contribute greatly to the film as well. the actress playing the mom is a hoot Jackie Chan displaying an acting ability I never even knew he had is fantastic and the love interest violin playing girl is great as well the fighting climax is excitinbg as well. Bottom line you should see this film and relive a classic remade it is definitely worth it.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
The last 20 minutes are a masterpiece
Daniel Radcliffe made a huge leap forward in his acting for this film and also the pace the cinematography was fantasitc and the music for the film especially accompanying the order's flight to the order is simply breathtaking in nature. The best scene in the whole series for my opinion it was all there. The story I know everyone knows by now. Of course there are detractors who feel the film was streamlined and marginalized in order to make the pace better I feel this is true and I could not agree more with the decision you can make a film shorter that is usual and still make it feel epic and grand in spite of that very fact.
Hounddog (2007)
Dakota excellent again!
I saw the premiere back in 07 in Sundance yes some people booed and some walked out. Some people will fault the obvious metaphors but Dakota deserves a 10 for her performance like Morgan Freeman she can save movies and she does here. The 'controversy' was not founded in the least. I also believe it to be her best performance since man on fire I will of course not give a thing away about the film or what happens suffice it to say her character is someone you want to see win even with her flaws. One scene dares you to see her in a bad way but it never seemed to happen for me. The movie is set deep in the swamps of the south. The first scene in which Dakota's character propositions her friend was a shock for me to I wasn't all the way prepared for her slightly adult turn yet I realized that she was making a turn or step forward in her career.
