8 Mile (2002)

Excellent Drama
11 November 2002
I don't care for too many dramas, but "8 mile" was an excellent movie. Eminem was a better actor than I could have dreamed for him to be. He put on a great show, and kept me interested throughout the entire movie. Mekhi Phifer did an excellent job and is definitely a rising star in Hollywood. Brittany Murphy could have done a better job, but I didn't like her character development at all. It seems that she flip flops around so much that in the end you really don't know which side she truly plays. Kim Basinger did a good job. I don't watch too many of her movies. The last movie I saw of hers' was "Bless the Child" and that was a major let down.

As for the plot, don't go into the movie thinking that you're going to see the life of Eminem. This is not about Eminem's life. Eminem said it himself in an interview. Mekhi Phifer even said that he didn't want to do the movie because he thought it was about Eminem's life and that Hollywood was just trying to take advantage of a rising star, but this isn't the case. This is just as any other movie, but this is Eminem's acting debut. Even though there are certain things in the movie that relate to Eminem's life (ex. 8 Mile Road,) this is certainly NOT an autobiography.

If you go into "8 mile" expecting to see an action film with explosions and such then you're in for a let down. "8 Mile" is an amazing story about a white wannabe rapper trying to make it in the underground world of rapping. There isn't much action in this at all because it is a DRAMA, not an action. I hope you go see this movie if your in for a good story with some great characters!

A fun overgrown rodent genre movie!
21 July 2002
If you're going to see this movie, do not take this movie seriously. This movie is just meant to be fun, and that exactly is what it was. It was a fun movie to sit through, with a few thrills, shocks and many laughs. You've even got to laugh at the movie itself by going back into the genres like "Frogs" "Alligator" and many others in the same genre as this one. If you like those, then this is a definite one to see because it goes back to the good old days with overgrown rodents invading a small town. Just don't take the movie seriously, or you definitely won't enjoy it. 7/10

NOT what you'd expect
26 January 2002
When I went into the theater, I expected to sit and watch a movie with an ugly girl with the popular guy that changes her into the prettiest and most popular girl in school. This is not the case for A Walk To Remember. The girl never changes her look, she isn't even ugly to begin with, just wears clothes that doesn't reflect the "popular fashion." The guy doesn't change her, she changes the guy into a better man. I think the acting is great throughout the film. Although I really wish that they could have a singer/actress that doesn't have a singing role. I feel for Mandy Moore because I feel that it does take away from her charactor. But overall, I really did enjoy this film through an through.

Spook Time
26 January 2002
The Mothman Prophecies is a good movie with a lot of spooky parts and you can see about 7 parts when the other people in the theater will jump. I loved the camera angles and especially the spooky music that is played throughout the feature. The acting is fairly good, the best of the feature is what you don't see much, that is of Debra Messing. Will Patton also did a great job. Overall, I think that the movie has a lot of good things going for it, and the fact that it's based on true events can give the audience even more to be scared about.
