Disgraced coach, can't do the job he wants, tries to connect with a kid...he might be a son, he might be the lonely, disillusioned son of the girl he wants to bang. Tries to coach at the same level he did before and fails, has an epiphany that it should be "fun". Wins, bonds, has some funny moments and then the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Turns into an asshole and while in the game has an epiphany of, either from himself, or from his assistant/friend coach, or a look to the stands to see the "Bangable Mom" being over the top and THEN..."Wait, did I lose perspective?...this is a game and should be fun". Then clears the bench and lets the chips fall where they may. Then a scene of the coach walking of the fields/ice/court, etc.
Then he goes back to his old gig...a changed man for the better.
OK, #1-Sean Payton should be upset that Happy Madison and Kevin James got involved in this. Plus his cameo was an embarrassment. The characterization that he's mean to his assistant, he's a jerk to parents, he's abandoned his son, etc., is just not right.
#2-Kevin James should STOP giving his brother jobs in his movies. He always plays a bumbling idiot. Coach Bizone in this movie, Eric in Here comes the Boom, as well as cousin Danny Heffernan in King of Queens. He's not funny, can't act and he only has a career from his brother.
#3-Kevin James...What's with the changing accent. First it was New Orleans, then it was North Texas, then it was New York, then it was nothing. However, Sean Payton does not speak like that. He was born in California and spent most of his life in Illinois, living in Naperville, right outside of Chicago.
#4--Do kids in PeeWee leagues in Texas play in full size stadiums? Who's paying for that? Do they not check birth certificates in Texas. What about penalties? No penalties in those leagues...if I know youth sports (which I hope I do), half of those hits would not be legal and that "Coach" that taunts him would be removed from the sidelines. Concussion are real, even in Texas.
I could go on and on, but I don't want to put more effort into this review than the writers, producers and director put into creating this movie. I could spend more time writing than the 90 some minutes that I lost watching it. It has some funny moments, but overall, it just not very good.
