The BBC Television Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet (1978)
Shakespeare Should be Rolling in his Grave
For my first taste of Shakespeare on stage, I cannot believe what these people did to a perfectly good play.
-Let's start off with the good bit, shall we?-
Alan Rickman is alright, although some of his dialog could have been delivered with more feeling. The rest of the actors needed to pull it together.
Romeo, Romeo, whyfore art thou not dead yet, Romeo? The actor, while not only completely wooden and deadpan, could not read his lines with any gusto at all. He was completely out of focus, had difficulty even looking Juliet in the face, and absolutely NO grace with the lines that he was given. Whoever cast him deserves to be punished. Juliet is almost passable, but she gives no depth to her character, and seems to be completely out of touch with the play. Mercutio was incredibly creepy and completely out of character for the entirety of his dialog. Benvolio was unfeeling and mercilessly choppy with his lines.
I was forced to endure this half-baked production of Romeo and Juliet. The acting was stilted and the costumes were nothing short of distracting. I have seen kindergarten puppet shows with more effort put into them. I only wish that i could give this movie a rating of zero.
Supernatural: Tall Tales (2007)
Too Funny for words
I think I broke something laughing. Dean was, well, Dean with the Purple Nurples and his website choice was what got me started. Then the two different stories in the college bar kept me euphoric. His grief over the Matalicar's plight was real, and his anger with Sam is clear. Sam had quite a few noticeable acts as well, ranging from Dean's account of the roommate's lack of feeling to his laptop(His one true love). But Bobby took the cake. His annoyance and with the boys snapped everything into focus pretty fast, whether or not it helped in the end is up in the air. He kept it real when the Alien abducted the college Frat boy and the alligator snapped up the science person. It left me mumbling all night, and I hope that those who missed have a connection with a dvr person or something of the like, because this episode was (in my mind) probably the funniest in all of both seasons.
Supernatural: Born Under a Bad Sign (2007)
Not the best
I was slightly disappointed at the tameness of this particular episode. It was still a brilliant Winchester take, but it lacked the Winchester touch. There are one of these in every season of just about any show you watch, so i am relieved that we got that over and done with. This episode did have its perks, though. When Sam realized that he checked in as Richard Sambora, just about everyone smiled. Dean was on Justin Timberlake this time, and yes, that IS a long way to go for a Jusin concert. I must say, the plot-work was pretty darn good, and while this episode was not quite my taste, is still brought back Jo, one of everyone's favorite (Epecially Mine!)characters. Whatever happens, guys, Im rooting for you! (Did anyone else see the teaser at the end? Tall Tales looks Promising)
Supernatural: Playthings (2007)
Very Funny Episode
I feel that Jared and Jenson really shine as a team in this episode. Dean is happy to annoy the bejeezers out of poor Sam, while Sam is just torn about his abilities. From the creeps of the doll house to the side-splitting laughter of Dean's antics with Grandma Rose kept us glued in our seats all hour. The highlights of this episode were probably the funniest from the entire season. Drunken Sam was hilarious, and Dean's methods for sneaking into places make us wonder what sort of hell he puts Sam through every day. If I were Sam, I would have chosen then to cash in on that free punch from Bloodlust. The end left Sam with one more contemplation, Dean with one more responsibility, and one last laugh over the single mother who owned the hotel. The girls were together again, and all was well(?) Nobody deserved this more than our Winchester boys.
Supernatural: Houses of the Holy (2007)
This episode was purely excellent! Sam was astonishing in his show of faith and Dean was Hilarioos in his lack of it.
This episode was purely excellent! Sam was astonishing in his show of faith and Dean was Hilarious in his lack of it. Everyone laughed as Dean complained of his being trapped inside and his complete disdain of those who hold faith in the highest regard. Sam was truly surprising when he told Dean that he prayed every day, and Dean's reaction was just a interesting as Dean is himself. I pitied Sam in the end, his wish for a greater power to exist was left in the dust, and his want for something better truly shone through the actor. Dean was ready to question faith of any kind until the very end, when he saw "gods will" (i use the "air quotes" because we do not necessarily know that it was really gods will of a freak accident) and Told Sam of it. We guffawed and cried along with the boys every step of the way on this episode, and I am happy to call myself Supernaturally Obsessed.
