Some people don't get it! You need a sense of humor to enjoy this Z grade film
11 April 2008
Oh the humanity! I cant help but squirm when reading reviews from people that just don't get bad films!! This movie IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD PEOPLE!! It is trash cinema at its finest. To be honest, if you bought or rented this expecting good acting or anything more than z grade acting, you need help! :) The cover art alone sums up this movie. Doing a quick search on Godfrey Ho, the director, you'll realize very quickly he is well known for budget films with no plot.

Those of you that have a sense of humor, and can appreciate bad films, this is the movie for you! Both Catman in Lethal track, and Catman Boxers Blow have no plots, bad acting, the most horrible overdubs, plenty of $2 special effects, which is why these movies are so hilariously good.

This film is highly recommended to badfilm enthusiasts!!

Badfilm enthusiasts will LOVE this film.

This movie simply ROCKS. Its so funny to read reviews from people actually expecting a "good" movie from directors and actors like in this movie. This movie is absolutely TERRIBLE, and that is exactly why it is soooo good! From cheesy 1980s electro music, cheap laser and fire effects, ridiculous plot and costumes, beautiful chick, etc... This movie has it all. Indonesian films are also always about Indonesian folklore, just as this one is. You have to look past the atrocious acting and plot to see it for what it is: Brainless, hilarious fun and an Indonesian history lesson all in one.. Highly recommended to anyone that can appreciate bad cinema..

Definitely worth more than the penny i paid for it.

I'm a huge fan of Godfrey Ho films. I love how he would take older gangster films from the Phillipines, Thailand or Hong Kong, and mix it with his own footage he filmed with British actors playing Americans playing Ninjas. This later film from Godfrey Ho sticks to his style, but is definitely aimed towards a younger crowd. Lets say teenagers, or younger. It says "Thunder Ninja Kids" on the cover, but there are not many kids in this movie. There is 1 kid in the Ninja Kid trio. The humor in this movie is very simple. British style humor like Benny hill. Its cheeky and bad. Its hard to review movies like the ones that Godfrey Ho do, because they don't really have a plot, the acting is terrible, the effects are budget, the overdubs are absolutely bad. But these kind of things are what make Godfrey Ho films so entertaining to watch. You have to have a sense of humor to sit thru films like this. If you like Godfrey Ho films, you will enjoy this film as well.

There are no 'Ninja's" in this movie.
21 July 2007
I'm a collector of Godfrey Ho and Joseph Lai films, and was quite disappointed that this movie was not a typical "cut & paste" movie with caucasian Ninja's in headbands, with bad special effects.

Nope, this is just a kung fu movie about 2 brothers that lose their family and get adopted by a family friend. This man teaches the 2 brothers kung fu, and sends them away from the land, far away to hone their skills. 20 years later the old man that raised them summons them back, to help protect their 'family' from invaders that are taking everyones livelihood.

There is one scene where they fight 'masked' men, which resemble Ninja's, but this movie is clearly BEFORE the Godfrey Ho Joseph Lai ninja craze that hit in the mid 1980's.

This movie is NOT bad. it holds its own, and there are a few scenes with good/cheesy music.

But if you are a collector of "cut & paste" type Ninja movies with Richard Harrison and the likes, this is not one of them.

More unintentional Ninja comedy!
6 July 2007
Well, time to sit thru another Godfrey Ho/Joseph Lai Ninja movie, with a shaved Richard Harrison. You know a picture is going to be good when Richard shaves for it. Expect the Ninja masks to be pulled down to reveal their face in every battle scene :) And once again, we have caucasian Ninja's with commercially made 'Ninja' headbands, swords that are far too flexible, multi color feathered blow guns, and plenty of disappearing to the sound of a laser zap.

Gordon's master gets owned, and the Black Ninja's take away the Sword of Catastrophe. Legend has it you will be the most powerful Ninja if you kill other master Ninja's with it. I have to say, this is one of Ho/Lai's more intelligent plots, and thats saying a lot! But without missing a beat, this movie will still make no sense at the end, and it really doesn't have to :) This movie has more of those parts with a Red Ninja, sparring by himself in the middle of a soccer field, this time attacking the ground with a triple chained staff, when out of nowhere, a Black Ninja with blue sequin chest-plate and arm covers jumps out and challenges him.

The movie they use to cut & splice in the Ninja parts, is some tacky Indonesian/Chinese movie with a disco soundtrack. A guy in between jobs, that ends up hanging out with the wrong people in the Asian underground, and winds up getting Ninjas involved involuntarily. Plenty of British overdubs for all the voices, hilarious.

Basically, if you are aware of the treasure of Godfrey Ho/Joseph Lai productions, you will definitely love this movie as well.

Definitely worth buying :)

People shouldn't be dissing this movie, cause they are missing the point. This movie is not supposed to be a blockbuster. Its clearly a low budget film, and is a great B Movie. Samuel L Jackson is great in this movie, as well as the soundtrack by Curtis Mayfeild. Some cool editing that captures the 80's feel perfectly in 1990, like when people fly thru windows, or short segway scenes, the sound designers put in cool vocal samples or other strange effects. This movie will be greatly enjoyed by people that appreciate bad movies for their comical end result. This is a great late night movie with friends that have a sense of humor :)
