Worst Zombie Series Ever
13 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
If you want to know how NOT to act in a Zombie Apocalypse, then this is the show for you. Otherwise steer clear of this annoying excuse of a series. At the start we are told that we are about 6 weeks into the "End of the World as we know it" but how these people have survived this long is a mystery. ***SPOILERS*** In a country with more guns than people, no one has a weapon at the start of the series other than the soldiers. NOT EVEN A BASEBALL BAT!!! The people in the series do nothing logically. Lance is probably the most annoying character. How this guy has survived for a month and half is beyond belief. He finds a supermarket that is still fully stocked and rather than barricade himself in and sit it out, he walks around the store putting items into a shopping trolley. He then leaves when a zombie walks in and shortly after stands in the middle of the road shouting. The only character with a gun offers it up to a bunch of kids and then later, when he gets it back, shoots a zombie 18 times (I counted) and still doesn't kill him. In the last episode when the characters managed to acquire some weapons, they get to the stadium where every single person suddenly has automatic rifles or shotguns. One zombie appears in front of about 30 armed people and all of them empty their magazines into him. That's about 900 bullets wasted on one zombie. I could go on but I think you get the picture. Also, the run time for each episode gets shorter and shorter with the final episode lasting less than half an hour!!!! Whoever wrote this missed a great opportunity. I gave this 3 stars only because it has fast zombies. Watch Z-Nation instead, at least there are some likeable characters in that.

Very Very Funny
15 September 2012
I can't believe this show has such a low score.

Bristling with talent such as Mark Addy (Game of Thrones - The Full Monty) and Jane Horrocks (Little Voice - Absolutely Fabulous) and the new addition for series 2 of Stephanie Beacham.

The first series was hilarious with many laugh out loud moments. My favourite was where Leighton was following the repair guy all day which culminated in the toilets. You could actually feel the guys pain in his final comment. I had to rewind it and watch it again I was crying that much with laughter.

Now, in series 2 we have the addition of the beautiful Stephanie Beacham in a role you could never have predicted. If you enjoyed granny's language in the Catherine Tate show you are going to wet yourself at Miss Beacham's character Lorraine. Hats off to her for this role but I bet she has never had so much fun playing a character. Dynasty fans will probably have a coronary when she opens her mouth.

I am not condoning bad language but when it comes from someone you are not expecting it to, it is hilarious.

Add in things like Linda & Colin's unexpected "relationship" and you have an absolute classic. (I used the word relationship in it's loosest term) Give this a couple of episodes so you get to know the characters and you will not be disappointed. Stick through till series 2 and Stephanie Beacham will have you creased up with laughter and "as sharp as a b*****d". 10 out of 10

Ignore the score and Title
21 February 2012
Fist of all, anyone who has given this film a score of one (and some have), obviously have no sense of humour. If they are in the UK then they probably watched the film at a free viewing like I did, as it hasn't been released yet, and they have no right to slag it off seeing at it cost them jack. Once it is released to paying customers, I can assure you that this score will go up considerably.

The title can be a little off putting but anyone who has seen "Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe" will tell you that a daft title is not a precursor to a bad film. Far from it.

I came out of the cinema exhausted. The range of emotions this movie drags out of you, and the speed it does it, is incredible and I have to thank the scriptwriters and director for that. It is a while since I saw a movie that made me laugh out loud so much and so frequently. Dev Patel's character is one of the most likable you will ever come across but then all the characters, bar one, have characteristics that just grow on you.

It's a shame that Ronald Pickup and the beautiful Celia Imrie aren't shown on the poster as they are just as responsible for the enjoyment I got from this film as the other "more famous" members of the cast.

This is a great film that will have you crying and laughing in equal measure but in the end will leave you with that really warm feeling inside that you get when you have just seen a classic.

Do not be put off by the title and ignore the current score this film has until it starts to get up to at least an 8.

The Best TV Show Ever!!!!!!
11 February 2007
I am a fan of such shows as 24, Lost, Prison Break, Hustle, Stargate, Star Trek, Las Vegas, Heroes, C.S.I. etc. so it may seem a bit strange when I say that this is without doubt the best TV show of all time, with Hustle a close second. John Simm is perfect for the role of Sam Tyler but Philip Glenister often steals the show with his one liners and hard hitting style. You might remember Glenister for his role as Oberst Heinrich Baron Von Rheingarten in the superb series Islands at War. Another role which shows off his talent for taking a role and really making something of it. Liz White is also great as WPC Annie Cartwright.

I have a friend who was a police officer in Manchester in the 70's and he swears his old DCI was a mirror image of DCI Gene Hunt.

This is not a comedy series (despite some very funny bits) or a buddy buddy type cop show, it just works on every level. They have done a great job of finding old and run down parts of Manchester to give the show a real 70's feel.

I take my hat off to the writers and look forward to the second series. I just hope it reaches the standard set by the first series. I cannot recommend this show enough. You will not be disappointed. 10 out of 10
