Ballet Shoes (2007)
Most definitely something I'd watch again
If I'm honest, I really only wanted to watch Ballet Shoes because Emma Watson was starring in it. However, I soon came to realise that there were many many other reasons to watch it. All performances were outstanding, the three young leads especially. Emma Watson was much more suited to this part than that of Hermione Granger (whom she plays in the Harry Potter films). She showed real emotion and depth as an actress. Yasmine Paige and Lucy Boynton were also wonderful, though I would have liked to have seen more of both. I would definitely recommend this to anybody, and really cannot think of a bad word to say about it. Really spectacular. 9/10
Heroes: Chapter Twenty-Three 'How to Stop an Exploding Man' (2007)
Not Impressed
I live in England, and the last two episodes were shown as a double-bill on BBC2. Having seen all the trailers and having enjoyed the rest of the season immensely, I was anticipating a huge, action-packed finale. Boy, was I ever disappointed! Everyone kept changing their minds (Nathan, HRG to name but a few) and the 'killing' of Sylar was absolutely rubbish! After all that had happened, all Hiro had to do was run at him with a sword! Surely, having met Hiro previously and knowing of his intentions, Sylar would have moved out of the way! He just stood there and was like 'ow'. Pfft. The Nikki/Jessica character, whom I had previously liked, also failed to deliver (Ali Larter was great, her story wasn't) and I could not help but wonder why Nathan needed to fly Peter away - surely the bullet in the back of the head would have done it?! And WHAT was up with their mum? She was creepy, and seems to have some back-story we haven't yet encountered. Also, when Peter met Simone's father and he was banging on about Pete being able to love unconditionally, I was expecting Peter to have to do something. Instead, it was Nathan. Oh, and did anyone else raise their eyebrows when Peter asked Simone's father why he was there (a dream, going back in time etc.) and he answered 'Does it really matter' or something like that - I'm sorry, HOW lame? It's like the writers could not be bothered to think of a good reason for this. And there's a new villain in town? Fine. But kill off the original one first, please! A totally unimpressive ending to what started out as a very very promising series.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
Harry Potter has become a man
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the best Harry Potter movie to date. Its predecessor, Goblet of Fire, was a huge disappointment to me the first time I watched it. The beginning was hurried and confusing and by the time it got to anything good, my first impression seriously hindered my enjoyment of it. Order of the Phoenix, however, was brilliant from the start I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story-line did not deviate, as it has been know to do in the movies, and there were definite hints of what's to come. I was totally impressed by how far Daniel Radcliffe's acting has come on he showed real emotion and depth - he really was Harry Potter. Emma Watson on the other hand what happened? Her performance has slowly been worsening since her excellent performance in the Prisoner of Azkaban. She was too dramatic nearly all of the time, and had a really annoying habit of, when it was her line, taking a deep breath, striking a pose, and speaking r-e-a-l-l-y s-l-o-w-l-y. Rupert Grint's performance was as good as ever and Imelda Staunton was magnificent as Dolores Umbridge, as was Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood. This movie was in no way disappointing and I eagerly await the official DVD release. 8/10
