Marquis de Sade: Justine (1969)
Very weird film by Jess Franco
This film is strange in many ways, and a lot more storyline then you typically get from most Franco films. A mixture of good acting and some very goofy scenes that actually fit in. Some common Franco traits, such as nudity, smut, perversion etc. The film I watched is far longer than what's listed here, running at very close to 2hrs.
Norm Macdonald: Nothing Special (2022)
Brilliant!
A brilliant send-off to the greatest comedian of all time! Very very funny, yet also very sad. The jokes are top-notch, only wish he could've had his audience. Miss you Norm, RIP.
The Gringo Papi (2022)
As expected... Garbage
The most phony human in all of comedy. "Yeah, 2-star review, but we're going." Is a line from his "Stand-up special". Yet, ironically his special has a 1.1 rating.
El caníbal (1980)
Franco's Zombie Jungle Cannibal Movie
I thought the film was a solid contribution to the cannibal jungle genre. It's not as good as Eaten Alive!, Which was also released the same year (1980). I'm a huge Jess Franco fan, and although this isn't his very best work, it definitely has it's moments and will keep your interest! Like most Eurocine' films, and Franco films for that matter, it's a very low budget. But as usual he makes it work.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Garbage
This is by far the worst TCM- the story line is ridiculous, the actors fail to draw even minimal interest and the kill scenes just didn't do anything for me. I love nearly the entire franchise, I even enjoyed the more recent Leatherface, with TCM 2 being my favorite. This movie sucks very bad. The first what seemed like half hour was littered with social justice messages; long period of time trying to either remove a confederate flag from a building, discussing the removal, school shooter victim, black guy pulled over by cops. You can't make this stuff up, I guess that's why I try to distance myself from modern horror. No cool story line, no jaw-dropping moments, no incredibly hot actresses, or good actors. Junk.
Commando Mengele (1985)
Very low budget, but fun Jess Franco/ Andrea Bianchi madness!
This 1985 film was definitely a rip-off of the very successful Boys From Brazil, but with some brand new ideas, twists and scenery. I think it was a brilliant decision for them to essentially have Mengele running an Army in South America. I also enjoyed the slight glimpses we catch of his creations, although they weren't very long scenes. Overall, no nudity, which is extremely rare for both Bianchi and Franco, especially the latter. Nevertheless, the action starts off immediately, then withers off for around thirty minutes, before kicking back into gear. If they would've added some more action in that dull period, along with plenty more sleaze, then this would have been one Hell of a movie. Instead, we got this extremely low budget film, with very funny fight scenes and one explosion in particular that is priceless. So basically good for some laughs and a few clever ideas with what to do with the fictional version of Josef Mengele. Also a must for.fans of either director.
La tumba de los muertos vivientes (1982)
Better than previous reviews claim
I was originally going to score it 6/10, but changed the rating to an 8 simply because all of the incorrect 1 scores. This film is far from a 1 star, and in all honesty not one of Franco's best in terms of Euro sleaze i.e (nudity, graphic violence, taboo acts) but makes up for that with having Nazi zombies in the desert landscape (for the first time on film). There are a few scenes in this film that are rather original, along with some pretty actresses. Eurocine fans should get a real kick out of this. More back story is also due for this film, because it was produced by the same guy who produced Zombie Lake one year prior, and Franco walked off set as the director, only to return for this film.
Hai sbagliato... dovevi uccidermi subito! (1972)
Giallo/ Spaghetti Western
A very rare mixture of two of the greatest genres. This film uniquely blends elements of the Giallo and Spaghetti Western genres in a seemingly effortless way. Great acting and some well know appearances. Very interesting story, and I believe the only Giallo involving the killer using a snake.
Il tuo vizio è una stanza chiusa e solo io ne ho la chiave (1972)
The best Giallo?
For me this is the very best Giallo film, right up there with Strip Nude for Your Killer, Seven Murders for Scotland Yard, Bloodstained Orchids, The Case of the Bloody Iris, Assault in the Devil's Garden and Torso. That's the collection right there. Edwige Fenech just might be the most beautiful woman ever. Very stylish and colorful film, but also very dark elements.
Lady Frankenstein (1971)
Rosalba Neri, how can you go wrong???
One of the most beautiful Italian actresses to ever grace the screen, Neri is Lady Frankenstein in what is very likely the greatest Frankenstein film in the 100+ film series. Followed by Frankenstein '80 (1972) and Flesh for Frankenstein (1973). These films belong together really. Don't miss out on the movies.
Frankenstein '80 (1972)
One of the best Frankenstein films in the entire series
This film is what Frankenstein should be, cult exploitation trash cinema. A slasher monster movie rolled into one. This film needs to be paired with the 1971 Lady Frankenstein, and the 1973 Flesh for Frankenstein. These three films, two of them Italian, made simultaneously, are hands down the best in the 100+ film series. If you like gore, nudity, Drive-in style fun, then this is it!!! Usually find all free on YouTube because they're public domain films....
Malamore (1982)
Late Italian exploitation trash (the good kind)
A very interesting plot to go along with all the classic trash elements. Plenty of nudity and very disturbing scenes. The story focuses around a wealthy dwarf who is residing in Italy during the height of WW1. One particular scene with a horse is unforgettable and shows a demented side to the German soldiers.
