A remake with Ozores and Navarro

this movie is really a remake of "Expertos en pinchazos" an Argentinian comedy made in the seventies and starred by Alberto Olmedo and Jorge Porcel, who were two very popular Argentinian comedians. The plot is exactly the same but apart from me, I am afraid very few people know about the original here in Spain so for fans of the funny duet Antonio Ozores and Juanito Navarro this is a nice comedy as the original was. Ozores plays the same role that Jorge Porcel and Navarro plays the same role that Alberto Olmedo, only that they are a bit older than the Argentinian actors. I think this movie was released straight on video, if it had been made a few years earlier and starred by Pajares and Esteso it could have been a big hit as the original movie was in its country. A curiosity and a must for fans of this "typical Spanish" movies.

At last I found this...horrible comedy

This was a really difficult to find until Manga Films decided to edit it in DVD and in fact the quality of the vision is very good but now I know why this movie was so hidden, (I think even in TV it has been never programmed), it is because it is so horrible. It is just a gross, very unfunny comedy to take advantage of the success of Hurtado Sisters, three comedian sisters which become very popular in the TV show "Un, dos, tres"(One, two, three), what a good show it was and the Hurtado played "Las tacañonas" there, which were three very avare sisters which never wanted the participants to take any money, they could have made in fact a movie about those characters in the show instead having made this atrocity, the cast is good, very good comedian actors and actresses of that age such as Florinda Chico, Rafaela Aparicio, Raul Sender or Manuel Gomez Bur, and even the very ugly and so many times present in the casts José Lifante, but they cannot do anything to improve the idiotic plot, written by the way by the director and three guys more, just to write such a thing like that, completely untalented, a pity, Manga Films should not have recovered it, what a waste.

Well, i was for a long time looking for this movie, and i can tell you it was not worthy, quite bad acting and very bad plot. I was this was on the line of very famous Italian movies such as "Ator, the invincible" or "The savage spade of Krotar" but it was not like that, it is worse. Director Joaquín Gómez Sáinz tries to rip-off Conan, and he is at the same time the main character showing he has no charisma anyway. The worst thing about the movie is that it tries to be serious, with very pretentious dialogue, better you should make something funnier, all in all, very difficult to find but not worthy unless you are a completist or a fanatic of sword and sorcery.

OK that was another of those comedies of that period called "Destape" with everybody naked and very gross humor, but as such, it was quite funny and actress Adriana Vega was really nice to look at, apart from that, you can see here very good comedians of the age as Juanito Navarro or Quique Camoiras,and the screenplay was written by Juna José Alonso Millán who was an expert at this material being the author of the plot of the highly successful Cristobal Colón parody starred by Andrés Pajares. So do not expect high comedy but if you were a fan of such a stuff or even the gigolo movies starred by Rob Schneider, which could be similar, prepare for a good laugh.

I cannot believe I am commenting on this one, i saw it quite a long time ago and I don't think I can find it now. As far as I recall it was a pitiful parody of stallone movie, but sometimes i miss this turkeys. The same actor made other movie "Rocky Tango 4", I never saw it but sure it was even worse. To sum up, this was incredibly cheesy, jokes was just unbereable including a reference to the delightful song:"We are the world" but despite everything I do not know why Spanish freaks don't recover this, for the freaky fans, this is a must. And oh!, i was about forgetting about it but the acting is the most atrocious I have ever seen, specially the Gay character.

I agree with those reviews I have read here, and I have no words to define such a turkey like this, but despite everything, I still can find a reason for movies like this to exist. Do you remenber those happy days in which video was a prosperous business, and a lot of movies were made with the only reason of filling the shelves of the video stores? this movie comes from that period and I can imagine that was the only reason for which it was produced and the same happened with many, many, many other stinkers. Do you remember "Rambo" imitations? and so many slashers of Z grade?, I still feel nostalgia for that period.About this movie I can say I didn´t waste my time watching it because I pressed the fast forward button after the first fifteen minutes, just to find a very funny scene in which a guy was pushing an axe against heads which exploded because, as you perfectly notice, they were made of plastic. And about the end, well, it was so badly filmed I could not understand what happened. That´s the same, I had not followed the non-existing plot at all. But boy, Video-age was a great age despite movies like this.

Pieces (1982)

A nice, Sadistic slasher from the early eighties

After directing some cheesy adventure movies based in Julius Verne novels director J. Piquer Simón was called to make this Slasher about which I have read by one reviewer here it seems like an old giallo. I don´t think so."Pieces" has more the style of "Halloween" or "Friday, the thirteenth" movies, only that perhaps it is a bit more gory but situations are similar although with the element of investigation by the police and one young student from the university in which the murders are happening. There are some stupid moments, including the ending but the film doesn´t cheat you. I think it is probably the most entertaining movie directed by Piquer together with "Slugs" and if you like Slasher genre(with more gore as usual, that´s true)give this one a chance.

I like Italian movies from the early eighties as I have said in other of my reviews and I have given a good opinion of such movies as "La notti dil terrore" but this was a negative surprise. First of all they were not clear(Until the end Part) about what they wanted to do. What can we do? A cannibal movie? A zombie movie? Or both? At the end it has more of a typical zombie flick but very badly done. The scenes taken from the national geographic documentaries are inserted in such a way you notice perfectly they are not integrated with the movie. The actors look sometimes at one side and another looking at images from nature but you know that they are not there.Apart from that dialogues are also marvelous. For instance, a guy sees a group of zombies approaching and he says his girl:"Look, perhaps they are ill, or they are drunk" Drunk??? What a stupidity!, well, it is not worth to comment more about this, just one advice: Stay away from Bruno Mattei, he is the same inept that directed "Zombie 3", another pitiful movie which was so bad(if not more)than this.

Manhattan Baby (1982)

boring as hell

That was a complete mess, it had any sense and any pace. I bought it together with "The Beyond" because I wanted to remember it, but I prefer the second one, although it was not very good, either. "Manhattan baby" could have been more interesting if it had shown us more about those supernatural travels that the kids do sometimes but I suppose the budget was too low for that, apart from that, the movie tries to be scary and it never gets it. The only good thing about this is the soundtrack, and the worse, apart from the plot is the role played by the actor Carlo De Mejo, just unbereable.

good beginning, but the rest...

This had a very promising and shocking starting but for the rest, apart from some gory scenes this was the typical cheap and tired B-movie with an enchanted house. It was a very cultivated genre at that age(not now) and perhaps at that time it was acceptable, but not for today´s standards. I don´t agree it is better than "Amityville horror", in fact I prefer that movie by far, this was precisely a follower of "Amityville" and "Poltergeist", there were a lot of them. I give this a 4 out of ten.

I have seen here some bad reviews about this, but I think this was quite funny and some special effects are quite effective. Some people prefer the first movies made by Fulci such as "House by the cemetery" but instead I like more some of the last such as this or "Aenigma" which was also quite interesting, so if you are a fan of B horror movies, take a look at this, it is at least funny.

Ghost Ship (2002)

Effective horror thriller

A well done horror movie produced by Dark-castle entertainment, and a bit better than "House on haunted hill" although it is a bit typical as it happens with some of those movies today. Some scares are effective and special effects are quite good, of course. But I almost prefer the ancient "Death ship" from which I got a copy, only that in a very bad condition. Go to watch this if you are a fan of horror genre although it is not wonderful, really.

Campfire Tales (1991)

Very cheap, but entertaining

When I watched this movie three years ago at TV I thought it was going to be a turkey. that´s was perhaps the reason why I enjoyed it. This extremely cheap but effective movie is divided in several stories and I can remark specially two of them: "Satan Claus" a terrific Christmas story and one chapter in which a guy arrives to an island searching for a treasure and becomes the victim of a group of pirate zombies, but the other two stories are also funny and you can watch some gore here(not very much), so, what more can you expect? If you are a fan, rent it and you will have a lot of fun.

Boring encounters

Humm, an Italian movie starred by David hasselhoff and Linda Blair, I wasn´t expecting very much, to be honest and in fact, I took even less than I was expecting. It doesn´t mean this movie is the worst I have seen because I have watched worse things than this but the plot was most of the times confusing and uninteresting and some good gore scenes are the only thing saving this. Apart from that you are going to love some special effects, they are really cheesy and bad. Now I only want to watch "Troll 3" by this same director, sure it is not going to be worse than that.

Black Demons (1991)

This was one of those typical Italian zombie flicks and I saw it at TV with the title of "Black Demons" not "Demons 3" a movie which(unfortunately) doesn´t exist. As far as I remember about this movie directed by Umberto Lenzi, it was gory, although not so much as my favorite "Nights of terror" and it was quite entertaining, watch it if you are a zombie fan, my only question is Why don´t Italian movie makers recover this zombie genre? They are just doing nothing now,and it is a pity, really, because they were great at horror genre.

Demons 2 (1986)

Ok, but not so good as the first

This fast sequel to the great success of Demons is also right, but it repeats the same formula only that changing the cinema for a modern intelligent building.that´s almost the only difference and some special effects are worse than in the first movie, I refer to that demon which emerges from the back of the boy and which seems like a puppet from "Sesame street", but gore scenes are ok although there are much less here and there is one curious aspect: Some actors from the first part appear now again only that taking different roles. I like the Italian subtitle "Il incubo ritorna" and this sequel must be less successful than the original because there was never a third part although this title appear as given here in Imdb for several movies with no relation at all.

Dolls (1986)

A very nice B horror movie

This is one of the best pictures made by his director, letting apart the excellent"Reanimator", it has a creepy atmosphere and it seemed to me much more entertaining that those movies from "Puppet master" series. Of course, we find the typical plot with a group of people enclosed in a house and being killed one by one,but by evil dolls and not by the usual slasher killer. It is not so scary as "Diabolic triangle of Bermuda"(one of my favorites) but it is more scary than "Child´s play" and its sequels. So, if you are a fan, give this a chance, very entertaining, really.

Eyes Behind the Stars (1978)

A Spanish-Italian ET rip-off

Well, I watched this movie at a friend´s home some time ago, we began to laugh almost from the beginning and we didn´t finish until the end. This is the best unintentional comedy I have seen in all my life, special effects are terrible and the filmmaking is still worse( in one scene we are in the afternoon but when the spacecraft changes to the following landscape then we are suddenly at night, and in other scene when the spacecraft stops over the sea we noticed that the waves in water had also stopped their movement, that was marvelous)and there are other many memorable moments here. Apart from that, music is just unbearable and the plot is a shameless ET rip-off only that with religious elements, which was a bit non-sensical because they are pretending that the extraterrestrial knows who Jesus is(quite difficult, I think). To sum up, Ed Wood would be happy to watch this and with this movie José Frade produced his second ridiculous fantastic movie after "Sea Serpent" which was also very worthy as a comedy but believe me, not so much as this. Rating: 2 out of ten, and just because I laughed as never before watching a movie.

Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)

One of my favorites

Right, the original movie directed by Clive Barker was great but this sequel is for me one of the best second parts in horror cinema. The atmosphere of a nightmare is greatly created and the story is not so good as in the first movie but nevertheless it is never boring. As a gore-fest it is superb, special effects are very well made, characters are engaging, so...What more can you demand? I have seen this movie six or seven times and I still have it recorded in an video tape because I like to watch it again from time to time, the plot is not complicated at all but the reasons for watching it are the gore, special effects and its scary scenes, chiefly. Recommended for all fans of the genre.

Signs (2002)

A different and interesting Alien Movie

M. night Shyamalan movies are always different, very different from one another and different from those made by other directors. That´s why some people admire their movies while others hate them, but it is the same with all "different" filmmakers: David Lynch, Tim Burton, Cronenberg and David Fincher(I think about his "Fight Club" which was wonderful but still some people didn´t understand it). About "Signs" don´t expect to watch a typical Alien thriller or a great Scarefest because there are some good scares, specially one related to a birthday party which almost made me jump but that´s not the point of the movie and for those who think that the plot is disappointing I must say that it always kept me interested , so if you like different and clever fantastic movies not based just on special effects, try this and you won´t be disappointed. On the contrary, if you only like typical Sci-fi movies, forget about it.

Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror (1981)

As a zombie movie, it functions

I saw this film a long time ago at video and as it is impossible to find in a video store now and they have never shown it at TV, I decided to buy a copy of the movie in English and I have to say it is excellent as a zombie movie, it is much more entertaining than Lucio Fulci´s Zombie which I also bought and unlike in that movie zombies appear here just from the beginning killing a guy and when the curious family comes into the house they are almost immediately attacked. The version that I bought is uncut and some of the scenes are a bit disgusting but aren´t you demanding that from a zombie flick? Apart from that director Andrea Bianchi knows how to create a fast pace and an atmosphere of nightmare.There is also a kind of homage to those movies about the templar knights which, to be honest, I didn´t remember at all and even one scene which recalls me of the mentioned "Zombie". So, if you like zombie movies apart from blood, guts and all those gory elements that they use to offer, don´t doubt, this is your movie. I know the plot is stupid sometimes and that some actors are terrible(specially the freaky kid) but again, it is something that happens in this kind of movie.7/10.

Gunan, King of the Barbarians (1982)

Really, this was extremely bad

If you have watched such a movie as "Ator, the invincible" directed by Joe Damato and you think that was bad(and it was)just wait to watch this. I can assure you that this was twice worse than that. The pace of the movie is always slow as a turtle and the battles are all filmed using slow camera, even when the guy is running sometimes they use the same slow camera, What´s the reason for that? Apart from this, special effects are very cheap and the funniest thing about this disaster is that the plot tries to show Gunan as a kind of Christ antecedent and they even say that his word was later used by a very brave king in Camelot(King Arthur, as you can suppose) so Excalibur was a long time ago the sword of a guy called Gunan, what an interesting revelation... But I prefer not to comment anything more about this turkey, in Spain i think it is impossible to find and if you live in other place and you see it at the video store, just avoid it. I give it a 1, and because I laughed sometimes.

Resident Evil (2002)

a disappointment for me

Ok, this movie is well done and some people appreciate it quite a lot but I felt it just as a disappointment. Milla Jovovich is gorgeous and the zombies look good but the scenes involving them are not gory at all.I think Paul Anderson did a good job in "Event Horizon" and even in "Soldier" which was better than expected but here he uses a too much video-clip style and the movie was quite uninteresting. And there is another thing I cannot understand, if this movie was so little successful in the USA, why are thinking about making a sequel?At least I hope it is like the Video game, that is,a zombie flick more than this is: A mixed of a lot of things all together.

Zombie (1979)

Not bad for a zombie movie

I have never been a great fan of Lucio Fulci movies but I felt curious for this movie and how it wasn´t showed by any channel here(even by the satellite ones)I decided to buy it.This is basically the typical zombie movie but at least I found it much more entertaining than other movies I have seen directed by Fulci such as "House by the cemetery","Fear at the city orf the zombies" or the absolutely dreadful"Zombie 3", although perhaps "The beyond" was a bit better.In the case of this movie the plot is at least a bit more coherent and you can find something seeming a plot and I don´t find the pace is so slow as other people say here.I have also read a review telling that it was so strange that once was a market for this.Do you think really so? I think it wouldn´t be so crazy to try to make a zombie movie like this nowadays,obviously with changes because the female characters would be much more intelligent now.I find specially absurd one scene in which a woman gets paralyzed watching how a zombie emerges from the floor and let him kill her without moving a finger. But despite such things like that the movie functions better than expected and in fact, this movie is at my opinion the best of Fulci´s first period in gore genre, take a look at this and some of his latest works such as "Aenigma" or"The ghosts of Sodoma".I know that his fans prefer "House by the cemetery", but for me it was a turkey.

Is this a joke?

Watching tv late at night at a friend´s we found this thing on a channel via satellite and from the very beginning we were astonished.How is it possible to make something so horrid?we are quite tolerant and we have seen many bad movies but after twenty minutes we abandoned this, I have no words, acting was horrible, Special effects(above all, the monster in the bath)were laughable, dialogues were still more laughable and the plot didn´t exist. It is a pure Z movie, something like a Troma Film, only that it isn´t funny at all, if someone gets to stand it until the end, he/she is a real hero but i´m afraid for his/her mental health.
