Don't even bother watching it...
10 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
... especially for new Bradley Cooper fans reviewing his career... This movie is just awful. I think it's supposed to be artsy and intelligent, but all we're left of is some sort of good quality porn (without most of the key-elements of the genre)filled with randomly thrown in SAT words... I don't recommend it to anyone, especially if you're expecting a nice romantic movie. It's easy... More than easy ... Cheap! So.. the whole thing - as I understood it for as much as I could bring myself to watch without punching myself in the face - is the story of a girl who's been around jerks her whole life. From her father, an absent mother who suddenly appears (soaps, anyone?) and now she is apparently famous in her circles for having two boyfriends - and as far as I understood they knew about each other ... and somehow accepted it. For the lady is so bland and acts so badly that any man would want her ... apparently. We are also being "treated" with flashbacks of her childhood - the child acts even worse and at a certain moment there is a scene with a boy on some shores when they have such a believable conversation ... while smoking, of course. The same lines could be thrown by the plummer of the fire fighter visiting the lady's house... For God's sake, this movie is an abomination!!! The one star is for Bradley Cooper only... the rest ... should be silence!

The kind of thing everyone should watch to understand parenthood...
6 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Well, even though it is like the normal dorama, with the same type of soundtrack and episode layouts (and sets), this is one of the stories that made me re-think myself as a person, in the sense of a future parent. It really explores the adult-parents-children different types of relationships and the girl is sooo cute. :-D Anyway, I've noticed that Moco has the habit to run around in every show, that's funny, but somehow each running is different and it fits the story. He's a really great actor and I do hope to see him in more internationally credited movies/shows. Who knows what the future will bring, right? So, what I mean is that the story about an irresponsible mother who lives her daughter in the care of her step-brother who hates her for letting him down at their parents' funeral (to which she didn't show up although she promised), the manager with a warm heart and unable to lie, the fluffy dog (pfff, not my type of dog, but cute nevertheless), the guardian who becomes responsible and learns how to be a parent (and maybe he'll get the girl, huh?), his coworkers who support him or not, the nosy neighbours, the apparently absent father, all revolve around this spoiled but cheeky little girl called Sakurai Ann. It's a really nice show and I recommend it to anyone!!

Finally a movie to bright up my days :-D

Warning: Spoilers
I've been waiting for this kind of story for a while now. It's not often when you find a movie that can leave you with a smile on your face when the credits come. I mean, yes, there is drama, there is tragedy even (in the end, when Larita tells John that he doesn't know what love is, and he's never loved someone as to inject poison to ease his pain - this is going to stick with me for a while now, and then, of course with the final blow Venus comes crashing down...). I can't say I have a preference for a character or another, but I do feel sad for the Whittaker women (actually, as Larita puts it beautifully, the daughters should run away). I haven't read the play, but I do feel the need to in order to comment on the actual text, which I will do in a later time (if I don't forget, that is). All in all, a beautiful movie, it managed to send away the clouds around my head, and yes, if you fall down with your face in the mud, there is only one way to go from there, and that is UP. A 10/10 from me. :-D

Barry Lyndon
19 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I must say, I've expected more from this movie. Yes, I've read all the reviews and the connection with Diana & all, but still, I expected something to shine. It did, but it could have been seen from farther, if you know what I mean. Talking about the technical aspects, I couldn't but connect it to Barry Lyndon, though with more action and less playing time, of course. The pictorial scenes, the contrasts and the use of lights truly reminds me of Kubrick's picture. Especially in the couch scene near the end of the movie, where the duchess is seated on the left side of the long couch and lights coming from the window, it is kind of a rip-off from the similar scene where Barry Lyndon is seated in quite a similar manned reading to his son. Except this, I would recommend it, it's a good movie, though with some flaws. 8/10 from me.

Sheer Hun Attack
28 August 2008
Well, it seems like there is a new new breed of Huns that threaten to conquer the West, the Scottish Huns, lead by the cruel king Angus McHun. They're even worse than the Mongol Huns. They've given up the kilt tho... Seriously now, it's a bit weird how part of the cast was chosen. I don't have anything against Gerard Butler, he's intelligent (though he did make poor decision, namely this movie and Timeline was that called?) and incredibly handsome, but I'm sad to say there is no Mongol blood whatsoever in him... The rest was acceptable, not very original (I get the feeling this is one of those Braveheart wannabes...), but OK until a certain point... The costumes were very nice and the landscapes are beautiful. And again Gerard Butler... The rest? The rest should be forgotten history, I'm afraid. A two from me. One for Gerard Butler, the other for the costumes.

damn....
17 March 2008
and besides that... I have to insist on the bad acting, bad script, etc... Though there were some jokes I find funny, like the Vlad Tepes one... Anyway, I stayed till the end just because of the cute guy, I know, I know, but that was kinda the only thing that would make (girls) people watch the movie. The sex scenes I think were something like: let's have more people come to the movie, we gotta show skin, legs and more kinda stuff. The rest was boring, very boring. And there were some stuff that came just out of the blew, like they had to fit in there but not introduced properly.

hugs,

Sonia
