Blurred (2002)
Big Mistake
Ok, lets make a movie. All we have to do is take every cliche regarding Schoolies week on the Gold Coast, write a flimsy and unintelligent script, get some good looking actors and film. Worth seeing for a bit of a laugh at Matthew Newton in drag and 'trying' (yes, he's very trying) to be a sleaze, but other than that, it's worthless. Spend your money on something else. Hire this one from the video store when it comes out. If you're worried that you'll forget about it and not see it when it does finally come out onto video, don't be. It's not really worth all that thought and effort. There's a tiny amount of my life I want back - wonder if I can sue the filmmakers for damages?
Nikki (2000)
What a waste of time...
"Nikki" is the biggest load of rubbish that I have ever seen. The fact that the same channel in Australia that bought this tripe bought the equally as terrible "Girlfriends" says a lot, and none of it's good. I only watched this show once, and that was enough. The only saving grace are the occassional humourous 'I'm a big dumb idiot' comments that we get from Dwight. Nikki Cox doesn't seem to understand the concept of comic timing - and as a result her jokes often fall flat. Where is the director on this set? He/she ought to be shot. As should the writers, producers, actors, and all the people in the WB offices that allowed this 'show' to go to air. Even re-runs of Burgo's Catch Phrase (you Aussies out there know what i'm on about) would be better. Nikki (and her huge breasts in tight tshirts) can go elsewhere, as far as I'm concerned. THIS SHOW BITES!
All Saints (1998)
One of the best offerings on Australian TV...
All Saints is the best. That was decided by the Logie (Australian TV award) that it won for Best Drama, over constant favorite Blue Heelers. The combination of solid characters, good writing, moving performances and fantastic actors who all work well together makes this show the delight that it is. It's also not troubled by dealing with the tough issues, as was shown by earlier episodes where they dealt with male rape and de-tox trials. Filmed in Sydney, this show may occassionally slip into the unrealistic (as do all shows on TV) but other than that, it's fantastic.
