That song
22 November 2019
Yes, it is 'Sing, Sing, Sing'.

It was a signature tune for Benny Goodman, eighty years ago, during the 1940's.

I think it had Gene Krupka on drums.

There is a better description on Wikipedia.I

Why no first names? Who pays the bills?
4 April 2007
As much as I like this show, there are two things about it that have always mystified me. I'd be happy if someone else can explain them.

1) Why does everybody call each other by their last name? House's first name is 'Gregory', Cuddy's is 'Lisa', Wilson's is 'James', Chase's is 'Robert', Foreman's is 'Eric', and Cameron's is 'Allison'. Why doesn't anyone use them? If it were the Supreme Court or the US Senate, I could maybe understand it, but this doesn't make any sense. Do you call your co-workers by their last names?

2) Who pays for all the medical procedures? I had some blood work done on my cat last month, and the bill came to $150. I can't imagine what a week 's worth of care in this hospital, with four full-time doctors, every diagnostic test known to mankind, and most of the operations as well, must end up costing. Does the hospital do it for free? Does the patient's HMO cover it? (I'm only being slightly facetious here). Does it come out of the taxpayer's pocket? Just once I'd like to see a medical show where they tell the patient "Well, we can do this and that to cure you, but it's going to cost $100,000", and the patient decides he or she can't afford it.

Terrific writing!
16 March 2007
I just wanted to give you an example of how terrific the writing was for this show. (This may not be an exact quote, but it's close enough for you to get the idea).

Frasier and Ray are chasing the bad guy through the streets of Chicago, and the bad guy gets away in a car.

Frasier and Ray, being on foot, decide to hail a cab and pursue him.

They pull the cab over, get in, and Frasier says to the cab driver (wait for it): "Follow that car".

The cab driver takes one look at them and says "Do you have any money?"

Frasier pulls out a $20 bill and hands it to the cab driver, who looks at it and says "I can't take this. It's Canadian!"

Ray says to the cab driver: "So, drive 20% slower".
