8 Mile (2002)
Positive message to America's youth? I don't think so
According to multiple user reviews here, this movie actually delivers a positive message to America's youth, especially to those who dream of being a successful singer.
Hold on there,
Can anyone tell me how on earth could this movie possibly have positive impact on America's youth? "Rap-battle" your butt out and hoping to get signed with a deal like Eminem? Having a mom who fortunately won some money from "bingo" and therefore not having to get evicted? A friendly reminder here, there is by far ONE Eminem but hundreds of thousands of high school dropouts.
What accompanies with this is nearly two hours of foul languages, sex, drugs, and guns, you name it. What we are looking for the current younger generation however, have not been mentioned, not even once in the movie.
I myself am a fan of Eminem, and I sincerely agree that Eminem is indeed an unique signer, he is talented in many aspects, but for one thing that I have to disagree to is the fact that not a single thing in this movie is positive to the youth, regardless of race. To me this is simply a stereotypical "Black" image with Eminem being put into it.

Jing wu feng yun: Chen Zhen (2010)
Huge let down
Where to start
.? Watched it on Netflix, and was really excited for the first 10 minutes because for once in my lifetime I finally came across a MA movie that's not telling me the story about how the Chinese being invaded from whomever for whatever reasons.
I was wrong, miserably wrong.
At one point I was still looking at Donne Yan killing German solider in the Western battlefield, minutes later he became Chen Zhen (played by Bruce Lee in the 1972 blockbuster, "Fist of Fury") in a black suit kicking Japanese's asses. Don't get me wrong, the fight scenes are crystal clear, fast, and furious; but for every 5 minutes fight scene comes a 35 minutes "Chinese trying so hard to be united against the Japanese", I just couldn't help but to skip through the so-called "acting" part. I knew what's coming next, you probably knew too, in fact everyone who have ever watched a MA movie would have known exactly what's going to happen next.
This is not about being incredibly stereotypical, this is not about absolutely zero character development; this is not even about being predictable. This is about the epic failure of the Chinese movie industry, the fact that they DO NOT have the brain power to think of anything new that's suitable in a movie to tie with Martial Art.
To conclude this, history is history, we do not need another and another and yet another movie to emphasis the past. We won't be nemesis trying to revenge the Japanese, this is not "glorious bastard", and we do not want to fall back in the same pattern and same routine, that's why we study history.
And Just a side note, never did a single Chinese troop fought outside of Asia during WW1, try harder next time.
The Proposal (2009)
Not a typical chick-flick
Well, there really isn't much to say or review about this movie, since a "transformation" from a fake marriage to a romantic happy-ever-after relationship is pretty much a guaranteed chick-flick. Nevertheless Sandra Bullock outsmarts everyone with her unique performance. Even though she isn't that of a "twilightish" sexy chick-type actress, she is emotional, sensational and experiential in many different aspects, she did win Oscar for a solid reason.
Overall, the jokes are funny but not dirty, and the story is completely predictable but warm and touchy. If you are looking for something that is not too heavy, somehow funny and romantic, this movie is more than satisfactory.
August Rush (2007)
Unrealistic in the best way you could think of
Indeed, this movie has no characters developments, random people are showing up here and there, and the storyline eventually concluded into a typical happy-fancy ending.
Yet, you didn't question Snow White or Cinderella, did you? We all know stories like these are unrealistic, they are just fairy tails which could only be seen on a storybook.
August Rush is no exception, a 11 years old kid will never be the director of Juilliard. What's happening here is that this story has brought the unrealistic fairy tail to a whole new level, a storybook can no longer handle it.
A Hollywood movie that includes the most important element of artwork- Music, will do.
The story itself is unrealistic, but the meaning and fantasy that comes with it is the best unrealistic thing you could ever think of.
War (2007)
For the sake of RANDOMNESS
Well, it's Jet Li and Jason Statham, seeing their faces on a big film poster entitled "WAR" is basically granting a violent flick. Simply put, you should be expecting some ass-kicking kung-fu scenes, some assassinations and perhaps, a little bit of car chases since this is a 2007 movie.
WAR included them all somewhat, and there's only one comment I want to say after all- EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE. The movie starts with a typical thriller scene, with so many characters speaking in so many languages. (Is that how you define "cultural diversity"?)Then it comes to a couple jump scenes where Jet Li shows up in multiple crime scenes, and Jason Statham decides to get him based on the tragedy happened to his partner. Nothing seems wrong to the plot? Right, but a briefly reminder here, the scenarios above were mostly dialogues, dialogues and more dialogues. That right, we are watching Jet Li and Jason Statham VERBRALLY COMMUNICATING to all kinds of random people for two hours long. If you are the one who enjoys watching Jason Statham yelling at people with his bloody British accent, then you surely will be satisfied. But I am not; either do the most of us who were looking for some actions-based entertainment.
And by saying random, I literally MEAN it. Some examples are the cool-looking agent who claims to be a sniper, the bloody blonde chick who gets nude for no reason, the facial surgeon who seems to know a lot of secrets, and the bad guy's daughter who seems to fight really well. They all act cool enough to have a couple personal lines with the leading characters, and they all seem to be a "big deal"; yet their existences in this movie are totally unnecessary, you can take these characters out of the movie and the story won't change for a single bit. They are so worthless that I couldn't even remember the names of these characters; I actually just found that Devon Aoki was playing as "Kira".
Just when we think this movie cannot have more random stuff pop up, they put NINJAS in the movie. So now we have cops with guns, samurais with katana, and ninjas with Shuriken. What comes with it is a car chase in every 10 minutes, there's even one with motorcycles.
All in all, this movie is trying really hard to be different than a typical brainless action movie. But it is trying too hard and that ruins everything, not even Jet Li or Jason Statham can save this. Imagine seeing POKEMON randomly pops up out of nowhere in the movie SNOW WHITE, that's how bad and random "WAR" is.
Ninja Assassin (2009)
The most stereotypical movie ever made in history
This movie is portraying "ninja" in an extremely visionary and imaginary way. That is to say, a ninja can pop up out of nowhere, break down the lighting within a couple seconds and have your head sliced into pieces...... Additionaly, a ninja can get stabbed for a thousand times, yet remaining his godly I-CAN'T-SEE-SHXT speed to kill people. How?... I don't know, "HE IS A NINJA ASSASSIN" is all I can tell you
and really...I like the following quote. Actress A: I have a gun! Rain: That is useless against ninja.....
Is that what Hollywood is trying to tell the audience? What on earth is this ninja thing? Aliens? What if kids ever happen to watch this movie?
Besides, the story plot is basically a piece of shix. A kid was trained by an organization/clan/whatever you'd like to call it. He was taught with close-combat skills, and he was forced to be absolute apathetic....yet, he has a heart, he doesn't want to kill people without even knowing why should he kill him/her. A moment later, a girl he loved was killed by the clan because she was trying to escape. Henceforth, he betrayed the clan, ended up going against his "mentor"...o well let's say he's the final "boss". Then it goes to a chain: tough final battle >the innocent girl got killed by the boss> the ninja is furious> screaming+yelling> godly mode activated> hypersonic movements > CHOPCHOPCHOP SLASHSLASHSLASH> the boss is dead> the girl was alive because her heart was on the opposite side> happy ending.....
In order to make this movie more "cultural-diversed", they have an African woman playing the leading actress. HOWEVER..can anyone tell me why all these Asian people speak nothing BUT English? ......... ......... Overall, WHY SHOULD I PAY 10BUCKS TO WATCH THIS Extremely STEREOTYPICAL NINJA FANTASY JOKE?
Give yourself a break, save that 10 bucks to something else
Knowing (2009)
It's just a man freaking out, no point at all
First of all, i am really surprised by the average rating of this movie, it actually scores a 7, which way exceeded my expectation.
Please think about the "weird&unknown" stuff.....
The little black stone? what does that have to do with the "Aliens"? Why do the Aliens need to literally pass these stones to the kids if they can sort of make it appears in everywhere? What about the un-circled number series? What are they? What will these numbers do if the world is already ended? Also, why are the kids holding rabbits? and why rabbits? And what about the huge tree at the ending? What the hell is that? Is it referring to the bible? The Genesis? One boy one girl?
See how many questions do i have here? They all end up unexplained, and to be clear we are not watching X-FILE, it's the mightly Nicolas Cage who always experiences some sort of exciting adventures in the Disney channel.
One more thing, if the movie is gonna end up having a huge destruction, then what's the point of all that "predictable" accidents? John still didn't and couldn't change anything, it's the Aliens who drive the kids away and John is just freaking out in the whole movie Basically, this means-All he did is pointless, so as the movie
5/10
High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008)
It's time for some disillusion
Getting invited from multiple top universities just because you play basketball well? And however still denied the invitation because you have a girlfriend applying for another university? NONSENSE!
High School is just a place that is stuffed up with immature kids. Proms, parties, striving for freedom and perhaps getting in a relationship? All these "highschool activities" basically remained the same for a hundred years i assumed
People are not feeling tired with these however, they think they should beautify it in an extremely visionary way and encourage kids to make up and dress up, to drive a hundred miles away to pick up a girl just for a dance and to "decide my own will" by knocking off the opportunity to attend a top school, without having any serious conversation with parents just because the parents "trust him"
Are we talking about superman? no, they are just kids.... it's time for some disillusion..
Forget about the plots, it's a musical, we all understand With no acting skills, no special effects, no story line, and scenes rubberbanding everywhere, what else are we expecting for? MUSIC, however, is a disappointment too, all i can heard is commercial, lyrics with the exact same idea with the previous movie, i can't see any difference rather than a couple music notes changed
Really shouldn't have put this on the big screen
Unleashed (2005)
Time for Chinese to blend in to international
I would say Jet Li did an amazing job for not only taking his enemies out, but also the way he express his emotion. Nonetheless, this movie brings a whole new concept and ideas to the Martial Art movies. Prior to this movie, international movies which involved with Chinese characters would only be brainless "endless fighting", and typically end after the Main character defeats the "boss" Obviously language barrier is the problem
"Unleashed", brilliantly overcomes this problem by letting Jet Li act like a "dog", who doesn't bother to speak much Jet Li will just speak out a little bit and do the fighting part to keep everyone awake in the cinema. Morgan Freeman will do the speaking part, telling everybody what is going on and keep the story fluent
How brilliant to have the best actor to do his best part in a movie?
the only part that upset me is the way how Bart speak.... he only speaks like this : how ya doin my budie....... tak em out i can't even understand a word........
9/10
The Dark Knight (2008)
Best movie ever
This film seriously scared the hack out of me. When the Joker first get caught, i feel like this movie is gonna end soon.....but than so many crimes pop up.....the ball to wall part is ........crazy. Everyone is doing their jobs, especially the Joker. He exceeds my expectation, and he truly outsmarted everyone in the theater. I doubt that he sold his soul to the devil in order to act like a wicked evil. Overall, great action senses ,great actors/actress and i don't see a reason why it can't win Oscar
it's not a simple superhero film, it contains a bunch of sarcasm, and it worths time to let people think about it
10/10 for no doubt
btw this movie might not worth a 10/10 for you but still, a 1/10 means u are a PATHETIC hater.......
Chobits (2002)
Do u support them?
As those characters in the series keep mentioning about relationships between computers and humans, i asked myself a couple time - do i support them?
Despite chi's "specialness" and the fact that she is the cutest girl in the world, she is - although i don't want to admit, a computer. There will be no generation afterward, and as Hideki get older, Chi still stays the same, as cute as always..... Is that a good thing? Will the tragedy of Chi's boss happen again? god knows.. The story ended with a good ending, but i feel sad for both of them, maybe i over-thought it too much..
Overall, this anime is the best for no doubt, it definitely deserves a 10
Step Up 2: The Streets (2008)
Where did Nora go?
Actually, the only reason that makes me want to watch this movie is about Tyler and Nora....i want to know what's going on after the happy ending
But then, this Tyler guy pop up in Step up 2 for less than 5 mins, and then left me a message that " Nora went to a tour" when i saw this i was like... ARE U KIDDING ME?
the dances are good, absolutely worth 8 dollars to see a clear vision but like all the dance movie ,there are no "story" at all The two main character both are talented dancers, they for some reason see each other and dance together, typically break up before a big competition, and then at the very last moment they will be together and dance very well.
Isn't it the exact same thing as Step Up? just the characters change?
I highly doubt that the filmmaker will find another two characters and make a Step up 3 easy money huh?
