Nocebo (2022)
No Cebu?
The film started great and made me proud being a Cebuano at first ,but when I realized the weak plot after the first 20 minutes (which is obvious revenge) and also realized the movie was a slander to Cebu, I unappreciated the movie especially with its weak scares and sometimes even cringey scenes. I also disliked the inappropriate use of our cultural religious icon. Santo Nino is a sacred cultural heritage not just to Filipinos but especially to Cebuanos. So for it to be used in a vodoo altar is inappropriate. As the movie line says, "Gaba." Basin gabaan intawn mo. But overall my family enjoyed the film so hence the five stars.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Sinister 5?
First, I hated the story. Spider-Man/Tom Holland is the villain in this movie. He created the chaos. Also, imagine the chaos in the alternate universes when they returned by changing the fate of the villains.
Second, since it's Sinister 6, I was expecting Venom to appear as the sixth villain since it was hinted in the Venom 2 post-credit scene. No Venom. What a disappointment.
Third, as same as the previous Spiderman, where's the police? Lot of law enforcement at the start but none on Liberty Island.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Count Olaf is in the Matrix
I loved The Matrix Trilogy. I kept watching it so many times, but this time, I was somewhat disappointed. The story was okay, but I hated the fight sequence. It was not as epic as the trilogy for me. Also, the swarm part was like a zombie movie, but with a hero who had powers .
Also, Neil Patrick Harris ruined this one for me. I like NPH, on TV but being the Analyst didn't suit him. It was like I was watching Count Olaf being in The Matrix.
The Witcher (2019)
Season 1 was great, but season 2 was awful
I love Henry Cavill as Geralt. Seeing the interview when he said he played the game to play the character better made me excited about the series. I haven't read the book but I played the game. Season 1 was great for me. I enjoyed Geralt taking monster contracts just like in the game. There was some humor. I was even excited seeing the trailer of season 2. In the season 2 trailer Kaer Morhen was like in the game with Ciri training. But when I started watching season 2, it was so disappointing. Ciri wasn't able to finish her training and Eskel died? Lambert and Vesemir so lame? Priestess Nenneke cursing? Plus most of the humor gone?
Also, I can't feel the connection between Geralt and Ciri. I was expecting a story between them similar to a Joel and Ellie kind of relationship, if you know what I mean.
One Day at a Time (2017)
I Wish There Were More...
A sitcom on a high level. When I saw this, I loved it. It taught me a lot of things, valuable things I can share with my family. I would watch episode every morning because every time I watched it, it not only made me laugh early in the morning, I felt like it made me a better person. Too bad it got canceled. I wish there were more.
