Kidnapped (2006)
Best television series in a long long time!
This was the best thing I've seen on TV in a long time. The casting, direction, music..... everything was excellent. It was too bad I had to watch the remaining episodes online at NBC.com, but we were all thankful we could at least see them. NBC made a huge mistake in cancelling this show. This was a show that we all looked forward to week after week. It was not just another Law & Order. Even though I love Law & Order, it is just so predictable. That's what made Kidnapped great....all of the twists and turns. We are all hoping it comes out on DVD. I'll buy it even though I've already seen it .... especially if they add back in episodes that were not shown! :)
Mystic River (2003)
What a waste
I don't really think my review will contain a spoiler, but some might take it that way. Anyway, although the acting is great, the story just falls apart midway or even before. It's just a waste. Too bad since it had great potential. I can take movies with tragic endings if they at least make sense. I figured out who killed this girl even before midway through the movie, but thought it still could be worth watching. The ending is just such a let down. It doesn't make sense for a variety of reasons. Who killed her makes sense, but the why is stupid. Then the fact that Jimmy takes matters into his own hands just doesn't make sense since he has two remaining daughters to think about and from his comments in the movie, you'd think he wouldn't want to be separated from them. Sean, I would think is supposed to be a good cop, but he and his partner sure do miss a lot of clues along the way. It's as if the second half of the movie is written for people who have never read or watched a mystery before. For anyone who is a fan of mysteries, this one is just a waste because it can be solved right off the bat.
House of Sand and Fog (2003)
Watch a drama turn to a comedy!
Ben Kingsley does a great job of acting in this film. Everyone else is just average. The writing is pitiful. While the ending is not comical, the writing is so bad that it becomes comical. The premise is just ridiculous, implausible and unbelievable. Throughout the film, you just want to scream to Kathy "Go get a job!" or "Try opening your mail!" The deputy, Lester, that attempts to come to the rescue of Kathy is probably the most unbelievable character. No one would go to the lengths he did and risk prison time for kidnapping, etc. to help out this poor dumb woman no matter how beautiful she is. I think this movie should be an embarrassment for the writers and for anyone who actually thought the story was good. It could have been good, but just wasn't.
Sleepers (1996)
Excellent Movie
This was one of the best movies I had ever seen. It was the first time and probably the last that I had seen Kevin Bacon play a mean character. He did an excellent job, as did the rest of the cast. It is very well written, acted and directed.
