Starry Eyes (2014)
A tale about Hollywood
Honestly a movie I tend to watch because so few horror movies genuinely dive deep into the psyche that is Hollywood. You wanna become an actor? Cool. Here is the genuine horror of what some people habe to go through to get a start in it.
The acting in some parts could be better and it definitely isn't the most thought proving piece with its writing but it does the job needed to make it a fairly good horror film. For sure isn't for everyone and can come off as confusing but is a good cinematic piece if you're willing.
I tend to rewatch it often since it is such a good film to me. If you're a fan of female horror, you can't go wrong giving this a try.
Mean Spirited (2022)
Way better than I imagined
There is clearly alot of social commentary in the plot of this film and it isn't hard to see what they are saying during the middle of the film. Honestly, as a a content creator, I really understood what this movie tried to say. And it definitely hurt because it rings so true.
The horror element wasn't really there. It's definitely more of a comedy with some horror elements thrown in there. Even so, the horror is within the message of the movie.
Acting is great. Cinematography is great. Soundtrack I love. If you are in a mood for movies where the cast and their banter is the biggest form of entertainment whilst cultivating the greater point of the film (with a small hint of horror and a big dose of comedy)
You need to watch this.
American Mary (2012)
Sassy, Suave and Fitting
American Mary is a movie I've rewatched many times and can say like any movie, has its ups and downs. It fits so many interesting points you don't see often as well as so many cliche things you could live without. But most definitely not something labeled in either. The ending could have been way better without a doubt as really, it didn't make much sense but I will take it for the long run the movie handed me.
One of my most favorite rewatchable Femme Fatale movies and if you are in a mood for something of the like, I highly recommend you give it a try as well. Ending aside, it is quite a great movie.
Cerdita (2022)
Wonderful but missing some pieces
I've waited for the release of this film ever since it was known to be a full length film instead of just a short. Personally, i'm a sucker for bullied heroine revenge films and although this did not disappoint, it lacked some crucial things. It would have been nice to know why the serial killer was helping her (although it can be guessed)
What was his backstory? And what of Sara's family after they were attacked? Maybe I watched the video without a deeper more artistic view which would make sense and most likely answer my questions but that just wasn't the vibe I got watching it.
Going in, although this was classified as a 'revenge' film, I would say its more about self acceptance and achieving inner power rather than revenge.
Goedam (2020)
Full creepy stories in a short anthology
Such a brilliantly done anthology. I rematch it constantly because sometimes, you need a quick scary story that does its job well. Writing and acting is brilliant and each story is unique and interesting! The creatures are incredibly creepy and make you feel unsettled.
I pray for a season 2!
House of Gucci (2021)
Long but thoroughly enjoyable
House of Gucci is a nearly 3 hour movie that shows the lives of Patrizia and Muraizio Gucci and the trial and tribulations of being the head of the Gucci brand.
It is definitely a long movie but it is their entire relationship, even to the bitter end. You get the seemingly full story of it all that leaves little questions asked. If a film for me nowadays feels like a full story, well that's just kind of a treat.
Mirai no Mirai (2018)
One of his best
Listen, to me, Hisoda is a genius. But a genius can make a handful of misses. But for me, Mirai was one of his best. It I'd a cliche to say a movie captures 'family' nowadays but to me, that's what Mirai is. A true interpretation of family. It kills me that this is one of his most under performing movies.
I don't know how to put into words the warmth it made me feel. The true feeling of love. The feeling of belonging and feeling complete in your own material biology. I truly love Mirai. I love the complete tin it made me feel. The ugly sobs it made me endure. It was a life in a film. And it was beautiful.
Look Away (2018)
Trashy horror that's amazing to turn off your brain to
Honestly, from the get go you can guess the premise of the movie. Has a revenge, violence, allure
One of my personal favorite types of drama filled horror movies to just sit back, enjoy and not think too deeply about.
