Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Gokû · ikari no furu pawâ!! (1988)
A good start.
Visuals: 8 - There is a lot of action this episode and as a fan of action I like this a lot. Goku also does a lot of cool poses that make him look really heroic which is not the first time its done but there's just something different about it this time.
Audio: 6 - Sound effects are great and the music fits well. Even the narrator gets in on some of the action.
Plot: 6 - Not too much going on, mostly just a fight. Piccolo's actions make sense and its good to see him squirm a bit.
It's finally here, the confrontation. To be honest its a little disappointing but I'm sure this is just the beginning.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Kimaru ka!? Densetsu no Mafûba (1988)
It begins
Visuals: 6 - The action this episode has some bad but overall is pretty good.
Audio: 6 - Voice acting is pretty good this episode and the music fits every scene very well.
Plot: 7 - Tien gets his chance to shine and really it just shows how strong Piccolo is. Seemingly a few days ago Tien was the strongest guy there is and now he is nothing, that makes Piccolo all the scarier. We also see some characters we haven't seen in a long while which is cool.
All the pieces are together its finally time for the grand finale. This episode is pretty good, the animation at parts could have been better but all in all this episode does it's job to hype the next one.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Tenshinhan no ketsui!! (1988)
Some good stuff.
Visuals: 6 - Animation is alright this time around and a city in panic is done well too.
Audio: 6 - voice acing is good especially from Bulma and the music does its job of making a situation feel hopeless very well.
Plot: 7 - Piccolo somehow always outdoes himself in how evil he can be and its great because you can actually believe he can accomplish anything.
The build up to Goku's eventual fight with Piccolo is incredible. I'm sure we will get more build up after this episode, but it's episodes like this that make the wait itself entertaining.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Thaw (2022)
What I've been waiting for the whole series
Visuals: 8 - This episode has some of the best action yet! The animation is great and so is the choreography. The facial expressions are on point as always and the designs of the titans are as unsettling as always too.
Audio: 7 - The music is amazing and fits well into scenes of battle and tragedy. The voice actors do a good job as always. A point of contention could be the music that plays during a certain scene as it could be seen as not vey Attack on Titan-ish. I can definitely see that but for me the awesomeness of the whole thing makes up for it.
Plot: 7 - The stuff that happens this episode is what I have been waiting for the whole time. Incredible feats are done by the main characters and it really shows how they have grown. The cliff hanger at the end is great too.
This episode is a rodeo I don't ever want to stop. Despite being this late into the anime and so many things being revealed, there are still some questions unanswered. The answer to these questions could change the whole series for me.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations: Dasshutsu (2022)
On of the most OK episodes out there.
Visuals: 5 - Pretty much what you come to expect from a Boruto episode. There's a little bit of cool, a little bit of lame and in between is just OK stuff you'll forget right after the episode ends.
Audio: 5 - Average, nothing to talk about here.
Plot: 5 - There's some questionable actions here and there but ultimate the episode is just ok. There are a few comedic and like one cool moment, so it wasn't all bad.
This episode I couldn't help but think of other things while watching it. There wasn't enough excitement, character or anything visually interesting to keep my attention. Hopefully next episode is better.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Son Gokû tsui ni hasshin!! (1988)
Not much happens but still intense.
Visuals: 6 - Goku in this episode somehow looks slightly different from the other episodes. His stance and facial expressions are a bit different too. Seeing all the carnage and destruction Piccolo causes is also pretty cool too.
Audio: 6 - Voice acting this time around isn't anything too special but the music is great and is timed very well in this episode.
Plot: 6 - There are a lot of view points we see from this episode. Everyone has their own reaction and plan to what's going on which is cool.
The anticipation is killing me. There is nothing I want more than to see Goku Beat the crap out of Piccolo. This arc has done a fantastic job of making Piccolo a strong villain and making me really want to see him go down.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Ikiteita Kame-sen'nin!? (1988)
Better than I expected
Visuals: 7 - The action is animated very well and the injuries Goku receives are pretty detailed.
Audio: 6 - Voice acting this episode is done pretty well especially the voice of the darkness...thingy.
Plot: 7 - Much better than I expected it to be. Goku continues to prove how good of a person and how determined he can be in ways that keep me interested.
This is a really good episode. Things are about to get heated I can just tell and I really can't wait.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Te ni irero! Nazo no Chôshinsui (1988)
Pretty alright
Visuals: 6 - There's some cool new locations and enemies but other than that nothing special.
Audio: 5 - Nothing to really talk about really.
Plot: 5 - Not gonna lie, while there's nothing wrong with the way to get super sacred water I thought it be more interesting than this. Hopefully it will get more interesting.
This episode is alright. Nothing major happens but there are some scenes that will make you tense up, especially when it involves Piccolo.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Gokû no negai!! Karin-sama mo nayamu (1988)
Some emotional stuff.
Visuals: 6 - The flash back sequences will bring a tear to your eye. Some of the techniques seen here are pretty cool too.
Audio: 7 - This is a very emotional episode and so the voice actors do a really good job this time around, especially Goku.
Plot: 6 - This is more of an extension of last episode. King Piccolo continues to prove how much more powerful he is than we think and it gets more terrifying every time.
This is a good episode and it really reminds of how much everything has changed in just a few short episodes. There are a few twists that still keep things interesting and I'm still guessing on what's gonna happen.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Kingu Kyassuru no kôbô!! (1988)
LORE?!
Visuals: 6 -Everything looks good this episode and it's always fun to see old character's again.
Audio: 5 - Aside from some nice music there's nothing too special here.
Plot: 8 - This is really feeling like the culmination from all of Dragon Ball into a big arc. Characters and places we haven't seen in a while appear again this episode really rewarding those who have watched from the beginning. There is also some long overdue lore for government for those that care.
This episode by itself isn't too special but with all the relevant knowledge it becomes something great and really unexpected. I cannot wait to see more.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Wakagaeru ka!? Pikkoro Daimaô (1988)
More build up
Visuals: 7 - This episode looks pretty good and seeing Shenron is always a treat.
Audio: 6 - Voice actors do a pretty good job this episode.
Plot: 6 - Besides some tragedy, not too much happens this episode. Both Piccolo's and Goku's plans are kind of going at the same pace so that's pretty cool.
Piccolo is racking up kills and with each everything seems just a little bit more hopeless. I really don't know how Goku can compete let alone win, so I am very interested how it will happen.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Kame sen'nin no saigo no Mafûba!! (1988)
Very intense.
Visuals: 9 - Everything in this episode looks great. The Almost all the animation looks great. The action is very well done and the character's facial expressions are perfect! There's a lot to see that isn't just told to you in this episode.
Audio: 7 - The Master Roshi's voice act does a superb job in this episode and the music does it's job very well too.
Plot: 8 - This episode does a great job invoking a very tense atmosphere the whole way through. The relationship between Master Roshi and King Piccolo is apparent on their faces and the way they act to each other nearly runs the gambit of emotions.
This is definitely a must watch episode. Master Roshi may well be the best and deepest character in Dragon Ball. King Piccolo continues to be a terrifying villain especially after he beat Goku in the previous episode. I cannot wait to see what's next.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Ganbare! Son Gokû!! (1988)
A tense episode.
Visuals: 6 - The action is good and there are certain parts that are oddly well animated.
Audio: 5 - Nothing too special this episode.
Plot: 7 - Things go from bad to worse this time around. Piccolo continues to prove to be not only a strong villain but a smart one too. Master Roshi also has a chance to shine with some awesome moments too.
This is a very good episode. This whole arc is good to be honest. It takes the mostly fun spirited quest to get the Dragon Balls into a life or death situation with little to no hope of winning. I get more and more excited to watch each episode.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Son Gokû tai Pikkoro Daimaô (1988)
A real first in Dragon Ball
Visuals: 7 - The action this episode is really good with some pretty nice animations. The facial expressions, especially when characters get hit, are on point.
Audio: 6 - Goku's voice actor does a great job this episode and the music and lack there of sometimes fits very well.
Plot: 7 - Most of this episode is action and not the kind you're used to. This episode is more brutal than most and will really leave you surprised about how Piccolo is so strong.
This is a great episode, it delivers a few funny moments and then brings everything down with Piccolo's monstrous strength. This episode has a first for Goku and takes what Dragon Ball uses as a way to subvert expectation and turns it around.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Pikkoro Daimaô oritatsu!! (1988)
pretty cool and satisfying episode
Visuals: 6 - There are some cool visuals here and a fast pace fight scene that's satisfying to watch.
Audio: 6 - The music during the fight really gets you amp but besides that everything else is normal.
Plot: 6 - Half of substance and seemingly half of filler. What's here is cool and good and the rest is just some silly filler that you'll forget in an hour.
This episode is pretty good. Piccolo is a kind of villain we haven't seen in Dragon Ball yet. Despite not doing anything directly yet and being old, you can tell he is going to be a real tough character to fight. Still excited to see the next episode.
Shingeki no Kyojin: From You, 2000 Years Ago (2022)
What people have been waiting for.
Visuals: 8 - There is so much show don't tell in this episode it is insane. The designs are amazing the animation is pretty good and the facial expressions are on point as always.
Audio: 9 - The voice acting is awesome and the music does an incredible job the entire episode.
Plot: 9 - Revelation after revelation is here. There's tragedy, horror, sadness and conviction all rolled into one. Unlike before though nearly everything makes sense and all the information you got from all the other episodes comes into play here.
This episode is absolutely fantastic in almost everyway. People have wanted to know the information in this episode for years and it was well worth the wait. I simply cannot wait for the next episode.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations: Sennyû, Dotôjima (2022)
better than last episode
Visuals: 5 - Aside from a tiny bit of really good animation everything else is nothing special.
Audio: 5 - there's some stand out lines in this episode but not enough for a higher score.
Plot: 6 - the conflict between the prisoners and Boruto's team is done pretty well in this episode and, if you squint your eyes, you can understand a little bit why Kagura wanted the prisoners to come.
This episode is a bit of a pick me up from the last. The action, despite the reason why it started, is alright and there's a few surprises too. You may even get a laugh or two as well.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Son Gokû ikari bakuhatsu!! (1988)
A nice episode.
Visuals 6 - There's some cool designs in this episode and some in the scenes with Tien look really tense.
Audio: 6 - With all the emotions in the episode the voice actors have a lot to work with and do a good job too.
Plot: In Goku's plot you can have a break from the doom and gloom and in Tien's you can see the results of the life he lived.
This episode is kind of a rollercoaster. There's some enjoyable scenes with Goku and then some serious with Tien. Somehow though everything was put together pretty well. The next episode is gonna be killer though.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Majû · Tanbarin ga yattekuru!! (1988)
it's alright
Visuals: 5 - There is some action but very brief. Everything else is pretty standard.
Audio: 5 - I take back what I said in the last episode. Yajirobe's voice sounding exactly like Krillin is a plot point and so was done on purpose. Besides all that nothing special.
Plot: 6 - For the most part nothing special except for some intense life or death scenes.
This is definitely a new kind of Drgaon Ball, but in more ways than one. This pace is way slower than normal and the overall tone much more serious. I like it, but it takes some getting used to for how slow the pace can be.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Kaidanji · Yajirobê tôjô!! (1988)
Slow going
Visuals: 6 - Goku's fight with Yajirobe is pretty cool.
Audio: 4 - This is completely my opinion but I am not a fan of Yajirobe's voice in Japanese. He has the same voice as Krillin, who is dead in the story right now so its very off putting to hear his voice so much in a new character.
Plot: 5 - everything is moving very slowly right, setting up the pieces.
This episode is good though it kind of feels like it was being padded out a little bit. I am excited to see what Yajirobe does in the future though.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Yomigaere Son Gokû!! (1988)
A new kind of Dragon Ball
Visuals: 6 - There's some interesting designs for some animals and the new character that arrives. The animation for this episode is better than your average too.
Audio: 5 - Nothing special to note here.
Plot: 7 - It's cool to see all the heroes talk to one another and plan for the future. Tambourine is not necessarily a complex or interesting villain but he is brutal.
This is a new kind of Dragon Ball. The kind where the whole world is at stake and not just because a shorty wants to wish for world domination. The tension is really high and the death count is rising. I think we're getting a taste of how Z will be.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Pikkoro Daimaô no kyôfu (1988)
A good show of force
Visuals: 6 - There's a lot of action but I can't help but feel that the animation this episode is a little phoned in.
Audio: 6 - The voice actors this episode do a good job again especially Goku.
Plot: 7 - King Piccolo is a pretty clever guy and has a decent. You don't really see villains learn from their mistakes often so this is refreshing.
This is a pretty cool episode. Watching Goku do everything he can to beat Tambourine for revenge is great drama. This episode promises that this next arc is gonna be great and that the stakes have never been higher.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Kuririn no shi osoroshiki inbô!! (1988)
Some great lore.
Visuals: 8 - The atmosphere is very different from other episodes and it looks fantastic. I also like the designs of the new villains and monsters.
Audio: 8 - The voice actors do a really good job this episode, ESPECIALLY with Goku. The music is great this episode too.
Plot: 7 - Most of the episode is explanations but done in an entertaining way. The fact that Pilaf is relevant again is pretty funny and is done in a believable way.
This episode could send chills down your spine. The way Master Roshi explains who King Piccolo was is done really well. Dragon Ball went down a sudden dark turn and I'm loving it.
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Budôkai shûryô! Soshite...!! (1988)
The kind of stuff that makes you grab your seat.
Visuals: 7 - The action was done very well and even after the fact everything looks great.
Audio: 7 - A range of emotions are in this episode and the voice actors do a great job at conveying them. The music does its job exceedingly well too.
Plot: 10 - This episode has you guessing at every step. Will Goku win or why is Goku acting like this will plague your mind until the answer is revealed and your heart will stop. Extremely good stuuf here.
This episode has so much good will in it it could drive you to tears! Tien's growth and his relationship with Goku is very satisfying to watch. The twists and turns this episode has makes it one of the greatest out there including the very big twist at the end. This episode is a must watch which makes the next episode a must watch too!
Dragon Ball: Doragon bôru: Sei ka shi ka!? Saigo no shudan (1988)
An explosive 100th episode
Visuals: 8 - The action this episode is great adn the techniques used look amazing and imense.
Audio: 6 - You can really feel the emotion coming from the characters during intense moments.
Plot: 7 - Finally the no holds barred battle begins and is very intense. The never before seen techniques are used in unique and interesting ways and Tien keeps proving how much he has grown recently.
This episode is great. It has suspense, action and some character. This is a unique episode among Dragon Ball and a must see.
