Severance (2022)
Good show that requires patience
Make no mistake that if you enjoy shows that have a new concept, intricate stories, and unforeseen reveals then this show is for you. However, and I can't stress this enough, this show's pacing makes you earn everything there is to enjoy. There's a lot of silent staring, long hallway shots, and meandering actors. If they rectify this in season 2 it would be a solid 9/10.
From (2022)
3 episodes in it is a good show with plenty of potential
I started watching strictly because of Harold Perrineau was cast and he again did not disappoint. I like the directing style and acting has been good and the show has potential to expand on the depth of the story. I hope this show doesn't decline into jump scares and twists rather than good writing (ahem, Walking Dead). I haven't found any characters I love, but, there have been a couple that made me upset so the show is connecting and I look forward to new episodes.
Peacemaker (2022)
Fantastic show, exactly what the DC universe should be doing
This is exactly what the DC universe should be about. The show is intentionally gimmicky because it's based on a comic book, but, the extreme violence and serious undertones and commentary make it a very well-rounded show. DC overall has taken itself too seriously to their own detriment and Peacemaker has given some hope that they'll get their act right. In summary: if you like Deadpool but wanted some commentary on social issues and mental health then this is perfect for you.
That's My Jam (2021)
Good potential but a lot of time wasted
The games from this show are all things we've seen and enjoyed before. This problem is that there is sooooo much filler in the show. There's easily 20 minutes that I skipped through because it was unnecessary. If you're watching because you like the celebrities then maybe you'll enjoy but I'd rather watch them doing the actual games instead of the constant banter and replays and Jimmy giggling for half the show.
Bel-Air (2022)
Once you adjust your expectations it is actually good
I was disappointed initially when I saw the first episode and I was ready to roast this show. Then it sat with me for a few days and I had a realization: this isn't a re-run of the original show and it is unfair to have that expectation. This show took the individual characters and matched them to a modern version and that's where things make more sense. Current dangers in Philly, check. Kid flees bad neighborhood, still can't quite escape himself. Entitled rich kid attitude, check. Superficial young woman facing the world, check. Black judge/DA trying to balance law and meet expectations from all different directions, check. The acting is good and it's worth a watch to judge for yourself.
